Aston Villa v Everton

Our form continues but this time we were much more defensively sound at the back with our first clean sheet in 5 games.

FA Cup 5th Round
Man City v Everton

Sadly we were teased here with taking the lead before City put us in our place once again.

Leeds v Everton

We bounce straight back though with a very hard fought win over Leeds and Karabec gets a very rare appearance down the right wing and scores a cracker to get the 3 points.

Everton v Chelsea

What a win here over Chelsea as Ferguson got us off to a flyer with a goal straight from the kick off before McNeil put us in control 8 minutes later. Chelsea then peppered our goal with shots but Ramsdale did brilliantly to keep them out before Ferguson got his second with a lovely chipped finish.

Tottenham v Everton

We got really lucky here as Spurs had two goals chopped off for offside as we really didn't deserve a point here.

League

We move up another spot here and now have a 12 point gap over 7th with 6 games to play as we'll be happy with any sort of European football next season.

Youth Intake

On paper it looks like an ok youth intake but when taking a closer look at the players they are pretty poor and I'd be surprised if they get anywhere near the first team.

Well just the 3 games this month and we should be able to pick up points at home hopefully but Newcastle will be tough.​

Everton v Brentford

Ramsdale has been huge for us since he joined as he keeps another clean sheet here as we leave it very late before getting a couple of goals to win the game.

Newcastle v Everton

Well what a first half as it looked like Newcastle were going to have their way with us as we were really poor everywhere on the park. Some choice words and a couple of subs at half time and it makes a world of difference as we rattle in a couple of quick goals to get a point. Bardghji is on a fine run of form just now as we could struggle to hold onto him come the summer.

Bournemouth v Everton

Back to a nice easy win as we rotate the squad a bit here as players are starting to be given a chance to increase their value for the summer and McNeil does a brilliant job at it as well.

League

3rd sport with 3 games to go and guaranteed a top 6 finish in the league already means we can continue to have some fun in the final games.

Wolves v Everton

A really disappointing match here as we really struggled to keep up with Wolves here and it cost us.

Everton v Fulham

At least we get a big win here in our final game at Goodison park to bring down the curtain in a memorable fashion for our fans as Bardghji gets another couple of goals.

Arsenal v Everton

It was never going to happen here as Arsenal needed to win to make sure they won the league and sadly we were powerless to stop them but at least it meant it wasn't Liverpool that won it.

League

Well we ended up finishing in 5th spot and grab a Champions League spot with it as well so the money from that will be a welcome boost but I feel we would of had a better chance at winning in the Europa League.

Budgets

Pretty standard budgets in for us this season. I would of preferred a bigger wage budget but still happy as it means we're going to limit what we can do in the market to make sure we don't bring the club into more debt.​

Season 3

Transfers Out

We've done our best here to bring in as much money as possible and we've done well with the outgoings of Barreiro and Nubel going to Al-Ittihad for a combined £74m. Adding to that the money for McNeil and Mykolenko then it gives us a huge war chest to bring new players in the squad for next season.

Transfers In

James McAtee

Looking to freshen up the midfield a bit and swap to an AMC rather than a DM so McAtee is a great addition for only £25.5million from Man City.

Radu Dragusin

With Tarkowski leaving we needed a new right footed CB and even though he's only 23 he does have a big future ahead of him as he joins from Tottenham for £22.5 million

Elliot Anderson

Now I feel I have always done well with transfers but I'm hoping this isn't a mistake as I try and keep a good core of British players as we sign the versatile Anderson from Newcastle for £35 million

Aaron Hickey

A very big outgoing here at £71 million from Brentford but Hickey is a big player for us and the fact he can cover both full back positions is a huge asset to any team.

Albert Guðmundsson

We actually tried to sign Guðmundsson in January but lost out to Spurs but it did give him a taste of English football before coming to us as he joins on loan but will move permantly at the end of the season for £5.75 million

Andre

I wanted another midfielder in to complete us and we have gone for the Brazilian international from Fluminense who only costs us £14 million.

Squad

We don't have the biggest of squads as we will have to rotate where we can to cope with European football this season. We are also very light in the striker department as well with Ferguson the only natural striker.

Friendlies

A very good preseason as we go undefeated here against some very big teams which gives us a huge confidence boost going into the season

Expectations

Well with the players we've brought in the board still don't expect us to be causing many problems for the big teams in the league which suits us as we just need a top half finish this season along with being competitive in the cups. We still have a bit of cash to spend as well if we can find another couple of players, especially a striker to be backup to Ferguson.

Well we get to christen our new stadium in a game against Liverpool to star the season, I would of preferred a much easier start but we're raring to get the season underway.​

Everton v Liverpool

What a start to our tenure at Bramley-Moore Dock as we record our first win over Liverpool in 6 games and new signing Albert Guðmundsson made an instant impact with slotting home from the penalty spot before then swinging in a corner for Harwood-Bellis to head home.

Tottenham v Everton

A very good match against Spurs who finished 3rd last season but we still haven't managed to beat them in the league yet since we took over.

Everton v Brighton

What a game after falling behind early as it just made us angry and we punished Brighton for it in the first half before Ferguson rounded it all off with a great solo goal.

League

Its only 3 games so we won't read into it too much.

Champions League

FFS I don't think we could of asked for a worse draw if we had tried but we'll do our best not to embarrass ourselves

Transfers In

Karim Adeyemi

Our only transfer of the month as we bring in Adeyemi on loan for the season and he will get plenty of game time over the season. We do have the option to sign him on a permanent deal at any point for £60 million

Wages

We are still massively under spending on wages when you look at the rest of the league and where we finished last season as we continue to spend well. It also helps though with the players we've been offloading have been on overinflated wages from past management of the club.

Sheffield United v Everton

Wht a start as we are given a free kick just outside the box and Harwood-Bellis heads home to set us on our way which we never look back and get an easy 3 points.

What a game as Harwood-Bellis is becoming a king in the air for us this season but we did throw a spanner in the works with Patterson being sent off and its let Spurs take the lead as they made use of the extra man but with some fresh legs coming off the bench and a change in tactical directions we got back into the game thanks to Guðmundsson scoring against his club from last season before Harwood-Bellis struck again to set us up with our first 3 points of the Champions League.

Everton v Wolves

A European hangover has struck with our first foray into European football as Wolves were just too good for us here.

Guðmundsson strikes again as we really struggle against West Brom here but at least we move into the next round.

Norwich v Everton

Adeyemi finally gets kicks off his tally with two great goals after coming off the bench at half time after struggling in front of goal for the last 10 hours.

Real Madrid v Everton

It all looked like it was written in the stars that we were going to win the game but a slip up in defence let Madrid through where Tchouameni was able to slot hit home to salvage them a point.

We've dropped down the table a bit but we're still only 3 points off top spot but there is still another 32 games to be played.

Newcastle have been struggling in the opening months and it shows with our rb making a solo run before slotting home for the opening goal.

Chelsea v Everton

Confidence breads confidence as we manage to get our first away win against Chelsea as Ferguson opens the scoring before a well worked set piece gets us the second with our defence being brilliant at keeping them at bay.

Bayer Leverkusen v Everton

What a performance in Europe as our players really stepped up here with Iling getting a rare start and showing what he can do for us. It was the 2nd half things really got going though as we secure a huge 3 points.

Everton v Brentford

A hard fought victory here as we rotate players after the mid week game as its first team regular Gray who scores a screamer for the only goal of the game.

Wolves v Everton

A great start for Ferguson with a brace as he is now racking up the goals this season so far and long ma it continue. The Wolves goal gave us a fright though and it kicked us on to secure the win.

A point off top but we look like to be making a name so far for the top 4 spots as we have a 7 point lead over 7th spot at the moment as we're a quarter of the way through the season.

Some tough games this month especially with Man City coming after the Feyenoord game and PSG will be horrible as well.​

A really disappointing game for us as we missed chance after chance here and it cost us in the end.

One of the games from the draw I was hopeful of getting a result in and Guðmundsson turned in a fine performance with a brace and Ferguson kept his run going as well with another goal.

Everton v Manchester City

It was horrible to have this game straight after the Champions League game but City are still just far too strong for us.

Crystal Palace v Everton

We bounce straight back thanks to Lewis Cook getting the ball on the outside of the box from a corner and hitting it well into the back of the goal.

Well this went as well as it could as the gulf in class was just too big as expected.

Everton v Aston Villa

Guðmundsson and Ferguson at it again as they are formidable at the moment with Guðmundsson sitting behind Ferguson and feeding him the ball.

A great month in the league for us see's us go top of the table by 2 points so lets see how long we can stay there.

Its going to be a **** of a busy month and rotations is going to be key to get us through it. We also have our best chance in 3 seasons of getting past the Carabao Cup quarter final as well with the draw against Brentford. Arsenal are the only top 6 team left in the competition at this stage as well so they are the team to beat.​

Bournemouth v Everton

It was just one of those games where Bournemouth were the better team and deserved the 3 points.

Everton v Nottingham Forest

No worries though as we bounce straight back though with a commanding win over Forest to get us back on track with our title challenge

Really happy with this result as Ferguson got us off to the best possible start but sadly we couldn't build on it as Napoli got back into the game as we get a big point.

Leicester v Everton

We had to rotate the squad here as we throw away a 2 goal lead to end up with just a point as our energy levels just dropped in the 2nd half.

Everton v Sheffield United

A much better game here as both our LB and AML get on the score sheet within 3 minutes of each other.

Everton v Manchester United

What a win for us here but we didn't really get going until the 2nd half but its great to see Anderson and Gray getting on the scoresheet to show the faith we have in developing younger players and giving them their chances in big games.

Everton v Brentford

It was a hard fought game but Bardghji gets the only goal of the game for us to progress past the Quarter Finals at the 3rd time of asking.

West Ham v Everton

We rotated the squad where we could after the cup game but two quick goals from West Ham before half time were enough to dent our confidence as we couldn't get back into the game

Arsenal v Everton

Iling was phenomenal in this game down the left with two brilliant team goals but Arsenal were just too strong for us here as we still have to close that wee gap on these teams.

League

We've lost top spot and Man City are starting to run away with the league now but we'll be happy to finish in any of the European Spots again

Its finally happened at the 6th attempt, we've finally beaten Spurs in the league.

We are able to rotate the squad here and it paid off as we ran riot against Blackpool to see us into the next round.

Everton v Aston Villa

Everybody comes back into the starting XI here and Villa didn't stand a chance against us as we really stepped it up in the 2nd half as we have one foot in the final now.

Liverpool v Everton



We've done the double over Liverpool now this season as Guðmundsson gets the opening goal before getting an assist with the 2nd.

Brighton v Everton

Even Ferguson loves scoring against his former club as for a 2nd time this season he gets a brace against them.

What an end to the game as it looked like it was blown before a darting run straight from the kick off saw us grabbing a point.

Birmingham v Everton

Again we rotated where possible and it nearly backfired as Birmingham took an early lead but we used our experience to get back into the game and move into the 5th round.

Another point in the Champions League on the road as we have to fight right to the end to get it as well.

We've closed the gap again at the top and even have a game in hand as well.

We did ourselves proud here with 3 wins and 4 draws and just a single loss to ensure that we get through to the knockout phases.

Transfers Out

We have to sell players to make sure we don't get the club into anymore debt and also allow us to bring more players in to strengthen the first team as well. With 3 players leaving the club permanently we brought in over a staggering £110 million.

Transfers In

Josh Doig

I've decided that I want to try and bring in more British and Irish players for the squad so we bring in Doig from Sassuolo for £8.5million and he will replace Cardona.

Max Johnston

A player we nearly signed when Araujo joined the club and it just happens he's now his replacement as he joins from
SK Strum Graz for £14.25million

Anxo Silva

We sign our first regen from Rayo Vallecano £7.5million and he looks like he can be a great player with the right development. We start that with a loan out to Hull for first team football.

Gonçalo Ramos

Adeyemi hasn't lived up to expectations since he joined so we won't be taking his option up at the end of the season just now so when we saw Ramos listed by PSG for £36.5 million it was daft not to take them up on the offer but he is now our highest paid player.

Reiss Nelson

I wanted a new RW and Nelson was transfer listed by Arsenal so we took him on loan for the rest of the season and we have an option to sign him for £39 million as well

The cup games and European football are taking their toll on us as its another 5 cup games this month as we have the joy of facing Arsenal in the Champions League now as well

We made sure we did it the difficult way as we expected the worse when going down to 10 men but we managed to make the most of a set piece to get the 3 points.

Everton v Norwich

A much stronger performance here as Ramos scores on his debut for the club to show Ferguson there will be a challenge for the starting striker spot.

A very relaxed game from us since we had a 4-1 lead from the first leg so we rotated the squad and we did get a fright with them pulling 2 goals back in the opening 23 minutes but Iling belting it into the back of the net right on the refs whistle for the end of the first half boosted our confidence and we make it to our first final.

Newcastle v Everton

Guðmundsson is at it again with another goal as he shows how vital he has been to us since joining on loan and justifying him joining permanently at the end of the season

Arsenal v Everton

What a game away from home as we manage to come back from 3-1 down to get a very impressive draw to give us a huge boost going into the 2nd leg

Well that was some end to the first half with Patterson opening the scoring with tapping in at the back post before Ramos scored a strikers goal with chipping Pickford before Arsenal pulled one back straight away but we held our nerve to lift our first trophy.

Our third game in a row against Arsenal and it didn't look good as Branthwaite hit a terrible back pass which Ramsdale missed to gift Arsenal the lead but Ferguson gets us back into the game before sub Adeyemi gets us into the next round thanks to a lovely tap in in extra time.

Brentford v Everton

The last 3 games have really taken it out of us and it showed here with a poor challenge giving Brentford the penalty but they fully deserved the win here.

League

To think 2 months ago we were sitting at the tip of the table but now find ourselves in 4th but at least no matter what happens we are guaranteed European football at the end of the season

Thankfully a much quieter month again now but we do have two very tough games against Napoli who we have already drawn with this season in the Champions League​

Everton v Napoli

What a start as Ramos opens the scoring in the opening minute with a lovely finish before Napoli pull it back on the stroke of half an hour. Ferguson came on to add fresh legs with half an hour to go and he had to show what he could do as well with getting on the score sheet to give us a narrow lead for the 2nd leg.

Everton v Leeds

It was our defenders here who stood out with a great defensive performance but 2 goals from set pieces let Branthwaite show he is up there with the best of them

Napoli v Everton

It was too much for us going to Italy as we crash out but again we did ourselves proud to get this far.

Manchester City v Everton

One of these days we're finally going to beat them and when that day comes it will be amazing.

Crystal Palace v Everton

We get lucky again here in the FA Cup as Ramos has taken to getting us important goals in the cups since he joined as we move into the Quarter final.

It was a much more comfortable game than the score line suggests as they were lucky with their goal right at the end but we move into another semi final this season

Everton v Chelsea

It looked like neither team were going to take their chance here but right at the end Ramos jumps up and heads home to get us the 3 points.

League

We're back in the title fight with 8 games to go as we're only 3 points off top spot now so lets get this season finished.

Youth Intake

A really poor youth intake here as I will be looking to secure a new head of youth recruitment after a couple of poor intakes.

A really good set of fixtures for us to stay in the title challenge but it looks like we're going to be going out of the FA Cup with the draw against Man City​

Well this certainly didn't go to play after Ramos gave us an early lead as we took our eye off the ball and it cost us.

We bounce straight back though and this time its Anderson who gives us an early lead but I thought it was going to repeat itself when they got the equaliser but we left it late before finishing the gam e off and getting the 3 points.

With one eye on the next game we rotated the squad where we could and it cost us as Villa were just too strong for us.

Well at least the 2nd half was exciting as we get two quick goals to make sure we get the 3 points and put the FA Cup disappointment behind us.

Thanks to results around us we're still just 3 points off top spot even though we lost 2 league games this month.

Andre has been a bit hit and miss since he joined last summer but he produced a bit of Brazilian magic here to score the opening goal.

Manchester United v Everton

Of course we slip up here against Man Utd after hammering them earlier on in the season but I guess we still got a point

Everton v West Ham

For the 2nd game in a row we rely on Ferguson from the penalty spot but a win is a win even if it was undeserved.

Everton v Arsenal

Arsenal still had it all to play for here that if Man City lost the league would be theirs in the won and they were able to do their part here.

League

A very successful season here with us finishing 3rd and only 6 points off top spot so we're getting closer and hopefully with the right players coming in we can take that extra step next year.

Budgets

Our best set of budgets yet and we can hopefully do some great deals with this over the window but we do already have Guðmundsson and Nelson joining permanently for next season as well​

Season 4

Transfers Out

Again we've done ok in the transfer market with selling players with Andre being the biggest outgoing at £40million which is great considering we only paid £14million for him last season but he was hot and cold so it made sense to let him go. Cook also leaves for the same price that we paid for him 2 seasons ago but he wasn't happy with his game time and he simply isn't good enough to warrant being a regular. Gomez and Esteve simply haven't developed as well as I hoped and we cash in on them before their contracts expire at the end of the season.

Transfers In

Merih Demiral

Demiral is a decent defender and will provide cover for us as he joins on a free transfer and we should make a good profit from him in January or next summer

Levi Colwill

Its always hard to find a left footed defender and even harder to find a British one so we snap up Colwill from Chelsea for £50million

Sandro Tonali

With Newcastle being relegated it made sense to see who we could raid from them and Tonali was the only one we went for at the moment as he will complete the midfield alongside Archie Gray but he does cost us £65million

Lazar Samardžić

Looking for a bit more cover in the CM/AMC role and Samardžić was transfer listed by AC Milan for only £7.25million and he is a great player and can hopefully provide a boost to us going forward.

Squad

We've certainly improved on the squad from last season with the new additions coming in but I'm not sure if its enough to close the gap over Man City but we'll give it a good try and we just need to make sure we can keep Ferguson at the club.

Friendlies

A mixed bag in the friendlies but we did play bigger teams this year around to try and get us a bit more use to playing against the quality.

Expectations

Well our budgets are done unless we sell sell sell!!! The board still don't expect much from us which is good for us I guess as the pressure is off for us in the league in my eyes but I will be expecting top 4 as a minimum with a title challenge again. In the cups there is a bit more faith with them wanting us to reach the latter stages after a couple of good results and us winning the Carabao Cup last season.

A tough game against Manchester United to start us off but at least after it we have 2 games which we should pick up wins in.​

What a start to the league as we see our new players come into the line up. We did get a fright though when United took the lead but we kept our calm and Samarszic scores on his debut to get us back into the game and it all went from there in the 2nd half.

Wolves v Everton

Well its looking like scoring goals isn't going to be a problem this season going by the last two games we hammer wolves here as they just didn't cope with our front 4 players.

Everton v Brentford

Nelson and Ferguson have ran riot over the last couple of games and they do it again there with a brace a piece.

League

A great start to the season, we just need to keep it up for another 35 games.

Champions League

Well a bit easier than last season and a few wins should be in the bag against Slavia Prague, Sassuolo and Dinamo Zagreb.

Transfers Out

Lewis Dobbin leaves the club but he was never going to get any game time so we cash in. Man Utd also poach one of our youngsters.

Wages

Our wage bill has crept up a fair bit this season with the new signings over the last couple of windows.

Back to the league and our free scoring is back as everybody chips in with a goal where they can as its great to see us not relying on a single person

Well this was a lot more difficult that I thought it would be as we fell behind early but rallied right before half time with a confidence boosting couple of goals. It looked like it would end up a draw though which was probably a fair result before Josh Doig the unlikely hero popped up outside the box and scored possibly the best goal he'll ever score to get us off to a winning start in the Champions League

Burnley v Everton

Rotation was key here to try and rest some players but it was sub McAtee who came on and made the difference with half an hour to go and he scored a cracker before getting the assist. He's really upped his game this season.

We knew this was going to be our toughest game and there is still a fair gap with Europe elite.

Evan Ferguson came to the rescue to get us back to winning ways as he scores a great hat-trick to show why he's our main striker.

A perfect start to the month here as we keep our 3rd clean sheet in a row in the league.

West Ham v Everton

We need to stop relying on Ferguson saving us in games where we under perform but a point is a point as we come from behind.

We played Leverkusen here last season as well and it was a much tougher game this time as we have to rely on our subs to come on and turn the game around for us.

Rotation after Europe has been key for us so far this season and Samardzic and Ramos have stepped up here to keep our run of form going.

Its only taken 9 games but we've finally beaten them and I don't even care if its the cup as its finally a win as we progress to the enxt round.

A really poor performance here but we were tired after the cup game but its not an excuse as we should really have been up for this game.

Well we've dropped back to 3rd spot but only 2 points off top spot so we're still right in it.

We are holding our own in Europe just now as we leave it to the last 20 minutes for us to take it up a gear and make sure we get the 3 points.

Everton v Aston Villa

Well we have certainly made sure there are no European hangovers this season as we take the lead for a 2nd time right on the strike of half time after they equalised which bruised their confidence and it took us a while but we managed to put the game to bed in the final 10 minutes.

Nottingham Forest v Everton

The season is going well and we are managing to grind out results which is important for our title challenge as its a sign of champions.

AC Milan v Everton

Well we rotated the squad for this game as players were tired and somehow we managed to pull off an unthinkable win thanks to Anderson scoring a tap in right at the end. It does help Milan are on a really poor run of form at the moment though.

Everton v Brighton

A really disappointing draw here in my eyes and that's where I'm going to leave it/

Its mad that we're in November and only 13 games have been played but we're sitting top of the table thanks to our goal difference.

Its the same as last season as the league games start to come thick and fast here with 7 games before adding in the 2 cup games so rotation is going to be key for us​

Its always the teams in the relegation fights that beat you and do it comfortably as well.

This game could of gone either way after going out the cup but its always good when a player scores against their former club to get you a point.

Its business as normal here as we are now expecting to win these games more and more often.

It just never goes our way against Man City in the league as we have only managed the one win against them and that was in the cup this season.

A really poor game here as we never got going as we had very tired players and it cost us.
