Sir Alex Ferguson Leaves Man Utd
Fergie Health Scare Ends 25 year United Reign

Manchester United have today announced that longstanding manager Sir Alex Ferguson has stepped down due to health concerns. Whispers had been starting to circulate around in the papers suggesting that the wiley Scot was having minor heart problems. Those whispers couldn't have been too far from the truth as the club have now announced his departure and admitted that Sir Alex did indeed have some minor issues concerning his heart and that his pacemaker has been checked.

With things seemingly affecting Ferguson both he and the club muturally ended the 25 year journey both have enjoyed together. It seems that these days you can't mention Sir Alex without Man Utd being mentioned and vice versa. With the club obviously devastated about losing such a talismanic manager they have announced that with a heavy heart they wave goodbye to such an important part of Manchester United but cannot let Ferguson put his health at risk by carrying on as manager.

As the news became widespread and common knowledge Man Utd fans started to gather outside of Old Trafford to salute Ferguson, many sang songs about him, some left replica shirts and pictures of United's success. As the gathering grew in size it showed just how loved the former United manager was and just how highly the fans thought of him.

Chief Executive David Gill announced that the club's owners the Glazier family, himself and Sir Alex Ferguson had all made the mutural decision and that the only unhappy moment for him was when the realisation that Manchester United will be without their illustrious manager sank in. Gill went on to say that Sir Alex even gave the Glazier's suggestions on who would be the perfect replacement to take over from him, but wouldn't speculate on who Fergie suggested.

Sir Alex Takes Time Out To Advise The Glazier Family On Who Should Replace Him

Who Will Replace Sir Alex Ferguson
Man Utd Face Un-enviable Task Of Replacing Icon

Now it's up to Chief Executive David Gill and the Glazier family to find Ferguson's successor which will not be and enviable job. They need to ensure that the next manager has the CV to match up to the job, the steel to take control of the players and the charm to remain in good relations with the fans and the media. The Red Devil fans will be relishing the prospect of big names such as Jose Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti and Pep Guardiola taking the reigns.

Other murmers in the media have seen David Moyes name mentioned along with current assistant manager Mike Phelan and former club legend Eric Cantona. At the moment it is anyone's guess and with the media going into a speculation frenzy it really could be anyone.

Sir Alex Ferguson may have an input on whoever the successful candidate is as he has advised the Glazier family on who a suitable replacement would be.

With Jose Mourinho the clear favourite by most Bookmakers it remains to be seen who the Man Utd hierarchy will choose to take the club foward and continue Manchester United's great tradition which is to win titles.

Manchester United Unveil New Manager
Familiar Face Takes Charge Of Red Devils

The Manchester United hierarchy have today announced that Mike Phelan will take over from Sir Alex Ferguson. The appointment may be disappointing to the fans who will have expected a bigger name to be in Phelan's position but although the big name presence is absent it is the most logical choice as Phelan has been at United as the assistant to Sir Alex so he already has a rapport with the fans, the media and the staff, he will also know the club, it's philosophy and it's expectations to a tee.

With Phelan taking over as Man Utd manager it leaves the Manchester United Assistant Manager's role empty. The new Man Utd boss will wan't to fill it quickly and then start preparing his team for Pre-Season. Phelan who has permission to spend arount £50million this transfer window has stated that he will carry on Ferguson's philosophy of buying young and trying to build a squad. He has admitted that his team needs a central midfielder, a winger and a striker.

Massimo Neri
Italian Joins As United's Assistant

Mike Phelan has pulled off an astonishing coup as the club have snapped up Italian schemer Massimo Neri as there new assistant manager. Neri who has had previous spells at Juventus and Real Madrid will bring a wealth of experience with him. No other members of staff have left and no one else is due to join.
