Red Dragons install club hero to help fire them back into the football league ...

Wrexham Football Club have today announced the arrival of inexperienced manager James Sadler on a 2-year deal. The position had been left vacant for a number of months now after the departure of Dean Saunders to Championship club Doncaster Rovers. This is Sadler's first venture into management prior to retiring from professional football at the age of 35 in the summer.

His playing record boasts of more than 400 appearances, starting as a young apprentice at local side Heswall. He soon made a name for himself as at the young age of 16, he was transferred to rivals Chester City. He enjoyed four glorious years at the Deva Stadium before signing a pre-contract with welsh side Wrexham, where he went on to captain the side to two promotions at the age of just 20. He spent 6 years at the Racecourse appearing in just under 300 games. Unfortunately for Wrexham, financial problems saw Sadler transfer to Preston North End for a reported fee of £100,000. He spent four solid years in the white of Preston, closely missing out on promotion to the top flight on a couple of occasions. As the years went on he fell down the pecking order and at the age of 30 he spent an unsettling year down south with Watford before heading back up north, to end a fantastic career, with his boyhood club Wrexham. Another four years passed with the red dragons, which totalled his time there to 10 years. A great servant to the club, which was duly appreciated with a well-supported testimonial in the summer.

Now a few months on the Wrexham legend has come back to the Racecourse Ground to fill the vacant managerial role. In his press-conference, a short time ago, he stated his love and passion for the club, and also his future ambitions; 'this is a club with huge ambitions, great facilities and steeped in memorable history...' He went on to say; 'this club deserves to be in the football league, it needs to be in the football league and that's where I intend to get them by the end of my two year deal.'
