Funny idea is this. Hopefully he will be awesome at the end of his career
Thanks! Yeah I'm hoping he will improve soon...or do something interesting atleast! he is approaching 60 soon, so might not get to the highs we had hoped

The FM Alex Ferguson isn't doing too well is he? Haha :O
No not really! Maybe his fortunes will change soon!

This is literally one story I won't lose interest in. Good job, naterr!
Thanks, glad to hear it! I should get through a few more seasons today!

Fergie needed a new job, he had been without one for a 9 months and that is a long time out of football. Most teams had managers in place by now so he went a different route.

Greece's manager has just retired after 12 years in the job. He was pretty average really, the team were 38th in the world and Sir Alex decided this is where his next job!

Let the international management games begin!

Fergie takes over the Greek side in the middle of the World Cup qualifiers (why the last manager decided to retire now is a bit strange) They had been doing well but needed more points to get a chance at qualifying.

4 games to go in the group - 3 wins and 1 loss is enough to do it for Fergie.

2nd place in the qualifying group after some key wins, and they manage to sneak in with a best placed runner up.

With the team now safely into the World Cup hat - how far can Sir Alex take them?

The World Cup - 2038 - Mexico

The world cup has arrived - host nation Mexcio are in good spirits with a sense of optimism around them as they enter the tournament as 49th in the world - but on home soil should do well for them.

Greece are 36th in the world and two key players they will be relying on are:

Greece have been drawn with:

England - Ranked 1st
Ecuador - Ranked 40th
Guatemala - Ranked 72nd

This is a group that should be simple enough for Greece if they get the win over Ecuador.

They do better than the 2nd place finish they had hoped for! A smash and grab win against England in their first match was a real high point. They did not deserve anything from that game but didn't give up. Undefeated in the group - they march on.

The fairy-tale had to end here...

They drew Mexico in the second round - a boring game with few chances but Mexico get the 1-0 win.

World Cup Final

Germany 3 - 1 Italy

Usual suspects in the final.

So, will Alex build a great team, or move on to better things? Time will tell!!

The Euros 2040 - England

Fergie stayed in charge of Greece for the next 2 years taking him into the Euros - they qualified easily out of ther group by finishing second in a group containing Italy and Belgium.

At the Euros they were in a group with:

Croatia: Ranked 8th
France: Ranked 1st
Romania: Ranked 57th
Greece were 14th at the time.

Tough group! but luckily they have a pretty awesome manager to work his magic!

Greece won all of their games at the group stage to easily make it through.

Greece demolish the Czech Republic in the next round before narrowly losing to the Swiss in the Quarters.

Final:

Holland 1 -3 France

Surely as Greece topped the group containing France that means they are better right?? RIGHT?????

World Cup 2042 - Germany

International football seems to be where Fergie is going to spend a considerable amount of time! 6 years at Greece now has led him to the world cup! This one looks like it is going to be very interesting.

View attachment 125215
Turkey were meant to cause them the most problems in this group but it didn't happen - with only one loss they qualify in high spirits for this one.

At the tournament they end up with this group.

His home nation of Scotland is a team he has to overcome if he wants Greece to get through the group stages, they should easily qualify from this group, but nothing is simple in football.

The World Cup 2042 Continued

The groups have been draw, tactics sorted and teams ready and raring to go.....

View attachment 125203

Well that was unexpected! Greece lose to Saudi Arabia in the first match, instantly putting pressure on themselves in the next games. The last game was against Scotland and Fergie just couldn't beat them. Maybe he had too much loyalty for Scotland, but whatever it was they are out at an early stage.

Final
Portugal 0 - 3 France

And.....Fergie gets the sack once more!

His reputation and attributes have risen while he has been Greece's manager but this is a big blow for him.

New Beginnings...

After a very disapointing World Cup with Greece Alex Ferguson V2.0 was sacked, and no one was shocked as Greece were expected to easily qualify from the group but couldn't

Luckily for us he wasn't out of a job soon, a small team in Italy had taken note of him, maybe you have heard of them....

Inter Milan

OK so not really a small club, but the team have not been as good as they once were, they have failed to qualify for the champions league since 2019! 25 years ago!

They have been a solid top half team and before their manager was pinched they had finished in 5th place in the previous season.

Up steps Fergie, he had a point to prove, to prove he is an awesome manager.

42/43

The 42/43 season started off well for Fergie, with the club seemingly becoming a money making machine he was given a mighty war chest. £90m was spent in his first season bringing players - £50m of that was made from selling players!

And the money spent...paid off!

Champions!!!

His first season in Serie A and it couldn't have gone any sweeter! They were knocked out of the Europa League early but that must have been a blessing in disguise as they dominated the league from start to finish.

In the Italian cup they made it to the Semi Final before losing 3-2 on aggregate to a powerful Juventus side.

Things were going smoothly for him...but, what goes up, must come down....

Fergie was in dreamland after winning his first major trophy, they are playing well together and after a strong preseason and a couple decent signings they were optimistic for the season ahead.

They made a brilliant start to the season, their first loss in any competition came in December where they were narrowly defeated by their main rivals AC Milan.

Through the whole season they only had 4 losses in the league, they made it very hard for teams to beat them, but the problem was that they were not winning all their matches, 13 draws was too many for them to retain the title...

View attachment 125091
League winners Napoli were only 6 points ahead of them, so if they had changed a few draws to win they could have got it back.

Their Champions league campaign didn't last very long as they were knocked out just after the group stage by Chelsea!

With the second season not being as impressive as the first his job doesn't look stable. out of the all the teams he is 3rd most likely to lose their job....

He has survived the end of season sackings but the beginning of the season could be where he gets the chop (if he does)

Yesss! He joined one of my favourite clubs. Sad to see that Inter hadn't amounted to much before he came

Alex Ferguson is walking on eggshells at Inter currently, they have made it very clear that he needs to improve and he needs a good start or he will be in trouble.

Luckily the first few matches went well, 5 wins out of 5 was enough to get the directors off his back so he could get down to business.

Through the whole season it was between Inter and Juventus until February where Juventus decided to throw it away and hand Alex his second title. From that point They didn't drop many points and Juventus could not catch them.

View attachment 124953
Juventus won the last 8 league games trying to get the title off them but luckily for Alex it wasn't enough.

As you can see Juventus didn't qualify for champions league....must have been financial reasons.

2 league titles for Fergie so far, it's taken him a while but he is finally doing something! I really want to get this finished before everyone gets bored of fm16 stories (and seeing as there are 17 stories already this might be quick).

Inter's board have been a little stricter with their money this year, for the last few years he has had a good budget but they have stopped in this year and he has to survive with what he has (or sell to make some money)

He has a great team so I'm sure he will do well again!

Not quite the championship this year but a good show none the less. 3rd place finish is a good result after having no money to spend while other teams strengthened their squads.

In the champions league they got to the first knockout round before being knocked out easily by PSG.

they also reached the final of the Italian cup before being beaten by Napoli (who also got the league title)
