Hello. With this story I'm going to attempt to revive the mighty Werder Bremen, who were a force in german football back in early 2000s. They also were 4 times winner of the german Bundesliga, Europa League runner up, 6 times DFB Pokal winners and have an European Super cup win back in 1992.

Finances looking good despite the £66m bank loan. Maybe that's why I only have 900k to spend and 21k wages left.

So there are the friendlies, I took over the same day as the Toluca game, so that kinda explains the result. As the players started to blend with the tactic the results got gradually better. Beating Twente 3-0 was a great result, but the 1-0 loss to turkish premier league side Istanbul BBSK annoyed me a bit, probably due to complacency or just the high amount of friendly matches.

As you can see, we got rid of a lot of deadwood. However the highlight of the "outs" is the £7m deal involving Elia to french moneybags Monaco, as he wouldn't play in my current formation (I don't use any wingers haha).

Wiese is a quality keeper from this level and since Wolf was our best keeper then, it was a no brainer to bring him in!

Former Arsenal midfielder Coquelin joins in to be a rotation midfielder, got him cheap and has bags of potential to fulfill. Also, he played last season on loan at Freiburg which means he has had some experience at the Bundesliga.

Samuel is a great center half with bags of experience and was available on a free, so he helps improve our defense.

Fernandez's transfer listing at Napoli helped us to get him at a cut price for a good player for this level with good potential ahead of him.

We were lucky to draw Magdeburg as it wasn't much of a task. However we left it extremely late to win it after we missed 2 good chances and 2 sitters.

Thanks a lot mate

The youth squad is not that bad, with us having a couple of leading prospects. But there is one standout player, and it is midfielder Ole Käuper, 16 yo and star Bundesliga potential. He doesn't look the best atm, but with some right development and tutoring, he can become a very good player for us.

We start off our Bundesliga campaign with a respectable 0-0 draw with Champions League team Schalke 04. We had a couple of good chances but we could put away.

Wolfsburg 1 - Werder Bremen 2 (Bundesliga)

Our first league win comes from a good performance against european favorites Wolfsburg. Striker Niclas Fullkrug and midfielder Mehmet Ekici with the goals.

We continue our good run of form with a good win at home against a lackluster HSV.

Hannover 96 1 - Werder Bremen 0 (Bundesliga)

The magical run comes to an end after a poor performance from the lads and a goal from Schlaudrauff gives the opposition the win.

We conquer a hard fought win against newly promoted SC Padeborn. Niels Petersen had a great game bagging a brace.

Borussia Monchengladbach 0 - Werder Bremen 4 (Bundesliga)

An unbeliveable result! Gladbach were 1st at that time and despite not having available 3 of our main CBs and having to play Kroos at center half, we get possibly one of the wins of the season!

We get knocked out of the cup after a horrid 30 minutes of extra time.

After an awful performance we go down to a resilient Freiburg.

A shocking result. The team had a terrible game and gave newly promoted Köln their first win of the season.

We were simply outclassed by title favorites Dortmund, however I feel we shouldn't lost by that margin!

Our last match of the month saw a good performance from the boys, especially Petersen with his 2 goals against a mediocre Berlin.

Bayer Leverkusen 1 - Werder Bremen 2 (Bundesliga)

We played top class football for about 70 minutes, quality performance from Di Santo. After we conceded Leverkusen went all out and almost snatched a draw. Despite that, we still should've scored at least 4.

JANUARY


In Germany, from the third week of December to the third week of January there's a break from football, so in January we had 3 friendlies as shown below.

The highlight of those friendlies was the 3-0 win against Brasileirão winners Internacional, where Petersen bagged two goals.
