One of my defenders Federico Oteiza shows as HG at club (no complaints about that whatsoever, I'm over the moon :D). But his birthday is on the 25th of Dec, so he clearly didn't join me on his 18th birthday. i thought HG at club was supposed to be only if the player is at your club physically from his 18th birthday to his 21st. So can someone explain this phenomenon to me, I've never really understood it.

EDIT: It says 15th to 21st birthday on the screenshot..even more puzzling. Explanation required ASAP. Seems like I've understood this all wrong.

Could possibly be taken from when signed the contract with you instead of when he actually arrived at the club? Just a guess, thats a puzzling one! p.s hes unreal, great signing ;)

I did consider that..and I'll be delighted if that's the case, because then a couple others will also be home grown at club :D Yeah, I got him from Lanus for a meagre £1.1M
 
This beast will join me in January as a replacement for Marco Verratti. Future captain I think.

I think the homegrown rule is they have to be at your club for 36 months between the ages of 15 to 21, if you loan them out i dont think that period of time away counts towards being at your club

exactly, but Oteiza joined me after his 18th birthday, even though it was only a week after. Yet, he doesn't complete 3 years between the ages of 15 to 21. And he's HG at club. But I'm delighted anyway.

Update: he's worth it. And then some.

Just turned in the single best individual performance I've seen in FM. I won 4-0 at Tottenham and he had all four goals. One was a chip from the edge of the box, another he ran from in his own half with two defenders clinging to him and then blasted it in.

Followed that up with 3 goals and an assist against Everton.
 
wonder kid

A wonder kid that i built from a kid to now hes an absolute monster in midfield gets so many through ball assists its crazy hes now the club captain and all ways first choice in my team as AP hes just so **** good, heres a before and after from a 19 year old reserve to club captain at age 23 ^^)
 
Malhar I would assume it's because he was at your club for 36 different months, not 36 full months.
 
I think that it's also to do with when they're 21 it still counts as being 15-21, so if you sign a South American or African regen then they should become home grown unless you loan them out.
