Zidane Takes Over at Stade Rennais

image001.jpg

Stade Rennais' chairman Frederic de Saint-Sernin has today announced that Zinedine Zidane will be taking over the helm of the club. Previous manager Frederic Antonetti was sacked by the club after an awful start to the season, leaving them in 19th in Ligue 1, with just 5 points. Zidane will have his work cut out to save the club from relegation. Frederic de Saint-Sernin will surely be hoping his amazing playing skills will be transferred into his management skills. Stade Rennais will have their chance to get their first win of the season in Zidane's debut game against fellow struggles Nancy Lorraine, who are sitting in 18th place.

They then recorded their second win with a 2-0 scoreline over Evian TG. In their final game of the month, they struggled against ESTAC Troyes, and lost 3-1.

Solid Month Hauls Stade Rennais Out of Relegation Zone

match-slide-10.jpg

An unbeaten month for Stade Rennais has seen them climb out of the relegation zone and into 17th place. Zidane has already got his team playing very nice pass and move football, and the results are now starting to show. They got the month going with a 3-0 win over Stade Brestois, then added to it with a 2-1 win against OGC Nice. They were then unlucky in two draws against Valenciennes and AC Ajaccio, as they were by far and away the better side in both game. The month will have encouraged the fans, and they will be hoping the team can push on from here.

With the transfer window also open this month, they will be looking forward to seeing if Zidane will add any players to the team. It is thought that players will need to leave before Zidane can bring any in though due to tight finances.

Stade Rennais 3 - 0Stade Brestois
Pajot (30), Montano (85,90)

OGC Nice 1 - 2 Stade Rennais
Pejcinovic (61)
Theophile-Cathrine (58), Feret (90)

Stade Rennais 1 - 1
Valenciennes
Makoun (23)
Pojul (73)

AC Ajaccio
0 - 0Stade Rennais

Stade Rennais Still Hovering Just Above Relegation Zone

hadji-rennes-udinese.jpg

Its been another mixed month for Stade Rennais, with 3 wins and 2 losses. The fans will be encouraged with two good wins in the French cup, with a 2-1 victory over OM in the 9th round and a 2-1 win over Lille in the 10th round. They had no luck in the league though, and lost 2-0 against Bordeaux, and 2-1 to OM. The losses leave them just above the relegation zone, 2 points clear.

There was also some transfer movement in and out of the club, with Victor Montano moving to Panathinaikos for £2 million. On deadline day, Zidane brought in Lucas from Real Madrid "C" and Brazil legend Rivaldo. Zidane is said to be very happy with his new signings and looks forward to seeing them play.

Zidane Sacked Despite Saving Rennais!

zidane_portraet_en,property=original.jpg

Zidane has today been sacked by Stade Rennais despite steering them away from relegation, and finishing in 16th position. Zidane is thought to be very disappointed with the decision, as he felt there was good things to come next season. The fans were also shocked with the decision, as they felt Zidane had started to implement a really good style of play within the team, and were excited next season.

Interest in Zidane is thought to be high, with Inter, Southampton and Everton just some clubs looking for a new manager. It is already thought that Southampton have offered the ex-France international a contract, but it has you to be confirmed.

Which club will Zidane join next? Will he end up in England, Italy or perhaps Spain?

I have also decided to change the layout of the story from the next post

Zidane Takes Over at Everton

hero2.jpg

Everton have today announced they have appointed Zinedine Zidane as their new manager. Zidane had only been out of work for a few days after being sacked by Stade Rennais. Previous Everton manager David Moyes was sacked after a poor season, with the club finishing in 15th position. Zidane will be hoping he can make his time at Everton much more successful that at Stade Rennais.

Everton fans are also excited about having Zidane as their manager. Having show that he can get his team playing some good football in France, they are hoping he can again replicate it in England.

Next update: Team Report

Everton will be a challenge, has Fellaini been sold?

Lots of Movement Around Goodison Park

2012_11_13_1_1.jpg

There has been quite a lot of activity around Goodison Park involving transfers over the summer, with several players coming in, and a few going out. Most notably was the transfer of Kevin Mirallas to Newcastle for £15 Million. This transfer gave Zidane some money to play with, and brought in English wonderkid Wilfried Zaha, set piece specialist Joe Mckee, Exciting young left back Enric Saborit, experienced Greek centre back Sotiris Kyrigakos and Israeli winger Yossi Benayoun.

Good Pre-season for Everton

everton_1395012c.jpg

It has been a good pre-season for Everton, winning all of their 3 games. They were expected to win all 3, due to facing lower opposition, but it was a good chance for the new signings to gel into the team, and a chance to raise morale within the squad. The star performer over the 3 games was Vellios, who got himself 5 goals. The fact they also went without conceding a goal will bring encouragement to the fans. The only concern for the management will be the injury to Vellios, who came off against Racing with fractured ribs. It is thought he will be out for around 7 weeks.

Everton 2 - 0 Formby

Apostolos Vellios (24, 26)------------------------

Everton 3 - 0 AFC Liverpool

Joe Mckee (23)------------------
Milan Baros (26,40)

Everton 4 - 0 Racing

Apostolos Vellios (21,50, pen 54)------------------------------
Magaye Gueye (69)

Everton have a good start to the season, with games against newly promoted Blackburn and Reading. They then have a tougher game against Arsenal. Zidane will be hoping to hit the ground running with wins in their first two games, and put them in good steps for the coming season.

Can Everton continue their good pre-season form? Will Zidane have a more successful stay at the club?

Solid Start For Everton

Everton+v+Liverpool+-+Premier+League

Everton may not have been at their best this month, but they still had a good start. They started off well with an opening day win over Blackburn. They then were unfortunate not to win away at Reading, and ended up drawing 1-1. They drew Northampton in the 2nd round of the Capital One Cup, and they managed to scrape a 1-0 win. The final game of the month saw them narrowly loose out to Arsenal, and may well feel sorry not to get a draw. The fans are hoping this will be a sign to come, as the team are currently sitting in 9th place.

Everton 2 - 0 Blackburn

Leon Osman (7)----------------------------
Steven Pienaar (57)

Reading 1 - 1 Everton

Noel Hunt (68) ----Anderson (45+1)

Unbeaten Month For Everton

article-2241394-164CED90000005DC-957_634x456.jpg

An excellent month for Everton has moved them up into 6th position. Perhaps the most notable game of the month was the 3-1 victory in the 3rd round of the Capital One Cup, in which new signing Wilfried Zaha got himself a hattrick. They also earned a very creditable draw against last years champions Manchester City. Things seem to be going much better for Zidane now, and has shown he has a real eye for signings. The only concern this month was the serious injury to Enric Saborit, who will be out for around 4 months with a torn calf muscle.

Everton 3 - 1 Fulham

Nikica Jelavic (35,55)=Mladen Petric (62)
Anderson (67)

Manchester City 1 - 1 Everton

Sergio Aguero (70)--Magaye Gueye (59)

Evertons Unbeaten Run Comes to an End

everton-fc-image-1-824048207.jpg

It was a much more frustrating month for Everton, as they were unable to keep their unbeaten run going. They started the month with an away trip to Swansea, but were unable to get on the score sheet and lost 2-0. They then made amends with, and all be it scrappy, win over West Ham, before suffering a heavy 3-0 loss to Stoke. They finished the month on a high though, by booking their place in the next round of the Capital One Cup with a 2-1 win over Cardiff. Everton now have a tough few months coming up, with consecutive games against Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester United and Newcastle. The fans will he hoping they can at least pick up a few points in these hard games to come.

Swansea 2 - 0 Everton

Danny Graham (86,88)-----------------------------------

Everton 2 - 1 West Ham

Steven Naismith (64)Ricardo Vaz Te (27)
Nikica Jelavic (68)

Stoke 3 - 0 Everton

Jay Bothroyd (18)-------------------------------------
Johnathan Walters (45)
Peter Crouch (72)

Cardiff 1 - 2 Everton

Joe Mason (66)-----------Wilfried Zaha (26)
Steven Naismith (42)
