Background:

The Metropolitan Police Football Club is the official football club of the Metropolitan Police Service.

The club was formed in 1919 and played friendlies until they joined the Spartan League in 1928, a league where they were to play until 1960. In 1960 the club switched to the Metropolitan League and joined the Southern League in 1971. They joined the Isthmian League's newly formed Division Two in 1977 and were promoted at the first attempt. In 1982 they came close to promotion, missing out by just two points, but in 1985 were relegated back to Division Two. In 1988 they were promoted once again but 1991 saw them drop to Division Two once more, where they remained until league reorganisation in 2002 saw them placed in Division One South. In 2004 the league was reorganised again and the Met played in Division One for two years, but in 2006 the regionalised divisions returned.
In 2010, the Metropolitan Police won their first senior trophy, beating AFC Wimledon 5–3 on penalties after a 4–4 draw in the final of the London Senior Cup. They finished the 2010-2011 season as champions of the Isthmian League Division One South, winning the league by one goal difference over Bognor Regis Town.

Whilst the club began it's life as being the pinnacle of footballing achievement for employees of the Metropolitan Police Service, there has been a relaxation of the rules in recent years meaning that players of the club do not necessarily have to be employed by the Metropolitan Police Service.

With their recent success and promotion to the Isthmian Premier League, the board have decided to try and focus the club's finances and attention on securing further promotion and trying to ensure a rapid rise to success, hopefully culminating in the club being able to turn professional. With success on their mind's the board have decided to take on serving MPS Police Constable ZamboUK and hope that with him at the helm, the club will continue it's astronomical rise up the football league!

And in other news,

Newly Promoted Isthmian Premier League team, Met Police FC have been busy outlining their plans for the immediate future, working to appoint a serving MPS Police Constable, ZamboUK as their new manager.
Club Chairman Desmond Flanders said: "We're happy to welcome ZamboUK to the club and look forward to the exciting prospect of seeing the club rise up the football leagues to Professional status!"

Fans of the club are understandably un-nerved at the prospect of a manager with no previous experience taking charge of the club at a time when they find themselves in the best position they have ever been in competitively. ZamboUK issued the following statement: "I am glad to be able to take on a new challenge as the Manager of the Met Police Football Club. For a while now, the club has been growing as an organisation in it's own right and I hope to be able to lead the club on to achieving Professional status and lots of success along the way. The club needs reshaping to be able to meet the challenges of the Isthmian Premier League and beyond, but the players and staff are all very capable and I hope to be able to add to the fantastic pool of talent that I have available to me."

A fan spokesperson was quoted as saying: "At a time when we should be excited at the prospect of playing in the higest level of competition we have ever achieved, the fans are now worried about how a rookie manager can lead us with literally, no previous experience of football management. Playing Football Manager 13 in your bedroom doesn't count in the real world. ZamboUK should look to leave the club in the hands of a real manager before he causes some serious damage!"

My dad played for the Met Police way back when. Gonna have to follow this haha! Good luck

Pre-Season Update

ZamboUK began his pre-season campaign by outlining his vision of reshaping the club from top to bottom. The manager was quoted several times as saying that he had a good idea of who would fit in to his plans and who would be surplus to requirements, but that there would be opportunities for some players to change his mind.

ZamboUK stated to the media that he intended to focus his attentions on shoring up his leaky defence in an attempt to secure his teams position in the Isthmian Premier League and meet his season's object's of a Mid Table finish.
With no transfer budget and a pitiful wage budget, ZamboUK will have his hands full in securing contracts for the key players already on the Met Police FC books, let alone branching out to bring in new talent to bulk up the squad.

Transfer Centre

With a non-existent transfer budget and a wage budget that could be bettered by your local McDonalds, there were never going to be any big-name marquee signings or shocking inbound transfers to Met Police FC. Instead, most of the rumours were about whether or not the new boss could tie down some of the key players in the squad and get them to lower their astronomical demands.

Andre Scarlett [Met Police FC] - Contract Extension accepted until July 2014
Staforde Palmer [Met Police FC] - Contract Extension rejected, will be able to leave on a free in mid 2013.
Sam Hurrell [Met Police FC] - Contract Extension rejected, will be able to leave on a free in mid 2013.

Aynsley McDonald [Free Agent] ---> [Met Police FC] - Signed on a free transfer after a good performance at the England U21 trial days.

ZamboUK won't be too unhappy with his team's pre-season results. A new, unfamiliar 4-3-3 formation and short passing approach has found the players in somewhat unfamiliar territory, but by and large the results of this new tactical approach have been positive at this early stage.

Die hard critics of the rookie will still be pointing out that the team could have done better and point out that these early losses are indications of what's to come in the rest of the season.

Fans have stated that they are concerned at this early inconsistency amongst the players, but they were encouraged by the high amount of goals scored by the team and the attractive brand of attacking play.

Loss: Aylesbury 2 - 0 Met Police FC
Win: Barton Rovers 1 - 2 Met Police FC
Win: Aveley 1 - 3 Met Police FC
Win: Met Police FC 3 - 2 Uxbridge FC
Loss: Binfield FC 1 - 0 Met Police FC
