Glad to see you pick up a point in the CL groups mate. Sure your reputation will be increased! Any links with "bigger" clubs?

Cheers given how we performed in some of the games we definitely should have had a bit more. I have my eye on a sleeping giant over in England!

Shamrock Rovers Season 3

What a season for the club. The Quintuple completed for 2018 along with a run to the Champions League group stage. A season in truth that my never be topped at the club. We have also managed to upgrade both the training and youth facilities this year as well as some major upgrades in the staff.

We have also been given a ridiculous budget for a team in the Irish League next season. Will we be around to spend it I don't know, but if we are it could be a fun transfer window.

Shamrock Rovers Season 4

Ok we have had an interview...with English side Leeds Utd we are currently favourites for the job and are waiting to here back on a response. They have fallen to League 1 and are a few points outside of the play-offs and it would be a great opportunity to continue this journey.

In the mean time we have had to continue with preparations for the new season with Shamrock Rovers. We have again had a very busy off season as we have struggled to hold onto our top stars after and influx of bids for English sides.

Transfers Out:
View attachment 100543

The big news is the big money moves of Browne and McCullough to Blackburn and Palace. We did try our best to hold on to these pair but as the bids increased and the pressure from the two players to move to a better division we had to accept the bids. We did get great deals for the pair in the end with numerous clauses inserted that should see the club profit long term should these youngsters reach their full potential. Plus we also have got McCullough back on loan for the year. Quite a few youngsters also departed the club on loans to gain much needed first team experience. The other big out was the return of Cole back to England. He was meant to come in and be a star player for us but in truth it just didn't happen for him and we where just happy to get his massive wages of the wage budget. He are also doing our best to hold on to Alan Nolan who we are receiving bids on daily basis.

Transfers In:
View attachment 100542

With the money from last years CL run and the players we had already sold we where able to speculate during this transfer window. We managed to get Holgate to come across from Everton which is a massive coup for the club and again shows us the progress we are making. A number of promising youngsters where also signed, two of which will go straight into the starting 11. Aydin and Bergstrom will likely only be here for a short period before moving on again to a bigger club but we are delighted to have brought them to the club at this stage of their careers.

Aydin:

Bergstrom:

It remains to be seen if we will still be at Shamrock Rovers for the incoming season or not but if we do say goodbye we have certainly left them with a serious squad and one we feel is an upgrade on last years squad.

Shamrock Rovers Season 4

REJECTED by Leeds. Alan Pardew is the man they want to take them forward.

View attachment 100533

I have also applied for some Championship jobs and been rejected from all of them. It appears winning a bucket load of stuff in Ireland doesn't help that much when trying to get a job in England. So for the mean time we remain with Shamrock Rovers.

View attachment 100532

We fired through a good lot of fixtures in the hope of picking up another job but again nothing of interest has appeared. But my word what a start 12 wins from 12 in all competitions. We have opened up a 6 point gap from the team that should have won the league last year Cork City

View attachment 100531

A special mention must go to Tom Lawrence who has been on fire so far. We said he was too good for this league when we signed him towards the end of last season and that has proven to be the case. 12 goals and 7 assists in 8 league games is fairy tale stuff.

View attachment 100530

Shamrock Rovers Season 4

Yeah we are still here. But we are favorite in the media for the Notts Forest job who are in League 1. But while we wait we still have a job to do.

View attachment 100478

Still in great form and yet to loose a game. With the only dropped points coming in a 1-1 draw with Dundlak. We have managed to open up a 14 point gap now to Cork City and even this early on the title looks to be firmly in our hands. We are also through to another Leinster Cup final as well as a League Cup Semi final as its full steam ahead in a bid to retain our titles.

View attachment 100475

Again this is near a carbon copy of the last update as Tom Lawrence is still stealing the show. With the kind of form I have never seen in any FM save before. With 21 goals and 8 assists in the 16 league games is it any wonder he is a wanted man and with a release clause of 800k (that he wouldn't sign without) in his contract we are dreading the transfer market opening in the summer. A number of the other key men are coming under increasing interest from quite a few Premier League sides.

Shamrock Rovers Season 4

Well the inevitable has happened Tom Lawrence has had his release clause met by Aston Villa. What a player and it was a privilege to have had him at this club. We have already dipped into the free agent market to find his replacement and although not as good as Tom currently we believe the former Arsenal youngster Kelechi Nwakali at just 21 has the potential to become just as an important player for this club.

The club and the league have also moved up in the recently announced rankings after what was a memorable year just past.

View attachment 100406

View attachment 100405

The Champions League 2nd Qualifying round has also taken place and seen us pitted against Latvian Champions FC Spartakas Jurmala.

View attachment 100404

In a fitting tribute Tom Lawrence also signed of with a brace for the club and surely there is an argument that he must go down as the most gifted player in the clubs history after a a return of 25 goals and 13 assits in 23 games this season. We will miss him.

View attachment 100403

However it was business as usual without Tom as we added another Leinster Cup to the trophy cabinet for the 3rd year in a row. With new signing Nawaki getting a debut goal.

I offering him a new deal after every game but he wouldn't accept anything that didn't have the release clause unfortunately

Ok so we where back in Champions League Qualifying action against Spartaks.

2nd Leg
View attachment 100379

So comfortably through as the Latvian champions are brushed aside with ease 10-1 on aggregate in front of a bumper 209 fans haha. No real discussion needed here but the draw for the next qualifying round has thrown up a massive tie.

View attachment 100377

Yeah Glasgow Celtic. The battle of the hoops. For some reason I am confident we can progress from this tie although we are considered massive underdogs in the media. It is a glamour tie for both teams and should prove to be a great contest.

View attachment 100375

Results wise it has been more of the same as we steamroll past most sides in the division. Although he did suffer our first defeat of the season with an all reserve side going down to Bray Wanders. In the league we are 11 points clear with a game in hand as we look good to retain our league title.

View attachment 100373

The transfer window in Ireland has closed and some new faces have arrived at the club but the English window is still open and with a number of possible departures on the cards I will cover the transfer business in the next update.

Shamrock Rovers Season 4

So here we are in one of the biggest games ever for the club. Champions League Qualifying against Scottish giants Celtic. We are big underdogs but come here in confidence that we can take a result home to the 2nd leg.

View attachment 99773

Well that didn't go to plan. Out of the tie after an embarrassing display at Park Head. In fairness stat wise we where pretty even the difference was the quality of their finishing and the how poor we where at the back.

View attachment 99772

A bit of pride restored after a good 2-2 draw at home but this leg was a dead rubber after the first leg. Moving on we now go into the Europa League playoff draw where we have been drawn against French club Lille.

View attachment 99769

We are also through to another League cup final after beating our big rivals Bohemians in the Semi Final with a relatively 2nd string side as it was sandwiched between the Celtic games. We will play the 2nd best side in Ireland in the final Cork City.

View attachment 99771

And some big big transfer news coming in the next update....

Shamrock Rovers Season 4

View attachment 1109651

Alan Nolan has left Shamrock Rovers to join West Ham after club have received a club record transfer fee for the young Irish defender.

View attachment 99753

With the transfer potentially reaching 4.9 Million as well as percentage sell on clauses it was an offer the club couldn't refuse. We will be sad to see our top defender leave the club but the deal was right for both parties. With the progress he has made in his short career so far I don't doubt for one second that we will prove a major success in England and will represent Ireland and senior level very soon.

Just to recap on some of the other transfers deals this window.

Ins:
View attachment 99751

We have already seen Kelechi who was bought in to replace the incredible Tom Lawrence and the other big transfer was to bring in the highly talented 17yo Irish striker Anthony O'Donovan from Cork City. It is a lot of money for a young unproven striker but I feel it will prove to be money well spent in a few seasons time.

O'Donovan

Outs:
View attachment 99749

Other than Lawrence and Nolan who we have already discussed the majority of players leaving this window was on loan to gain valuable first team experience elsewhere. One to note is Agyiri who we signed up on big wages and had very high hopes for is sent to Millwall mainly because they will pay all of his wages and we wasn't able to break into our first team. A few players where also given free transfers as they wanted to leave but where not attracting any offers. One of these players included Mikey drennan who we let go with against your wishes. He proved to be a very effective striker for me in my first few years with Shamrock Rovers with a return of 37 goals in 54 games during my tenure he will always be remembers fondly around these parts.

O'Donovan looks like he could be a player! Looking forward to see how he progresses

Shamrock Roves Season 4

Europa League Playoff time against french side Lille with the winner entering the draw for the EL group stage. I have just noticed from the scout reports they have an inform Fernando Torres up front!!

Leg 1:
View attachment 99743

We came so close to getting a draw in France but conceded a very poor goal with 5 minutes to go. Never the less we have got the away goal and can be reasonably confident of making a real good go off it in front of our home fans in the 2nd leg.

Leg 2:
View attachment 99744

Incredible. What a performance and probably the best performance I have seen from my Shamrock Rovers side since I have been here. We blow away the favorites as we qualify for the Europa League group stage. Again just incredible stuff. We have also been awarded 2.2 Million. Bring on the draw.

View attachment 99742
Back on the domestic scene where we have manged to maintain our good form despite the European games we have been playing. It is so important that we get as many points on the league table now as we can before the big fixture congestion we will suffer as a result of the Europa League games. Last year our European adventure nearly cost us the league as our players ran out of steam. So hopefully we will have a big enough gap than we can rest players for the European games without worrying about league form.

Europa League Group stage draw is here

View attachment 99737

Whatever the draw was we coming from the 4th pot we where always going to be underdogs, but we are rather pleased with this group. Bilbao will be the big favorites to top the group but if our previous European from is anything to go by we may just have an outside chance of getting out of this group.

I also noticed some other interesting teams in the draw with both Brighton and Inverness CT where in the hat.

Shamrock Rovers Season 4

So our first EL group game is here and we are at home to FC Midtjylland. The game will be played in the RDS stadium which had sold out its 12,000 seats.

View attachment 99498

Smashing performance from the lads in what was a great 2nd half performance. We are really beginning to shine on these big European nights. We also where award 300,000 for the group stage win.

Next up was a chance to collect another piece of silverware in the form of the the league cup. Again it was Cork City who where the opposition.

View attachment 99496

Another big game and another big performance. We lift the league cup in style as we see off Cork City in a great game where actually the final score line flatters us. But its another trophy and we are delighted. We have now had to play Thursday/Sunday and have a league game on Tuesday as the squads fitness and depth is being tested to the maximum.

View attachment 99494

We have had the title in our hands for some time now and after another impressive run of form in the league we now one more win away from retaining our title and making it 3 league titles on the bounce. It will be great to get this title wrapped up early as we can then throw everything behind our European run, unlike last year when we had to steal the title on the last day.

View attachment 99493

Fingers crossed but you're looking good for an early title party!

Shamrock Rovers Season 4

The task is simple. Win and the title is ours.

View attachment 99484

Champions of Ireland for the 3rd year running. In recent weeks it was more when than if we would be crowned league champions. A polished performance and in truth the celebrations where well underway after 27mins. A great achievement for the club and the first time 3 in a row has been done since 1987.

View attachment 99483

With the league in the bag our attentions turn to our European adventure as well as the the Irish cup as we go in search of another quintuple. We also have a number of league records in our sight with number of wins, goals and most importantly record league points which is currently held by bitter rivals Bohemians with 85 points.

Shamrock Rovers Season 4

Back in EL action as we travel to Spain to take on Altetico Bilbao.

View attachment 99468

We tried hard but Bilbao's class told in the end. We can have no complaints here and it is the games against Midtjylland and Dnipro that will determine if we qualify from this group.

View attachment 99465

We still sit in 2nd place in the group with back to back games against Dnipro coming up.

View attachment 99464

With the league wrapped up we have been blooding a number of youngsters into the side throughout these games. They have performed well for the most and this experience will be invaluable to their development as we look for the next crop of young Irish stars.

View attachment 99462

With one game to go in the league we are 1 point away from setting the record number of points tally in the Irish League. Which is currently 85 points which was set by Bohemians.

We are also through to another Irish Cup Final where we will play none other than Cork City in the Final where the club will be aiming to complete another quintuple and keep its strangle hold on the Irish domestic scene.

Congrats on another title, now for the Europa League. Knock out stages here you come!

Do you have a league team and a European/Big game team yet?
