Leeds United appoint new manager

Leeds United have today filled their managerial vacancy after lengthy discussions with several applicants including Alan Curbishley, Paulo Di Canio & Dean Ashton being among the few names considered for the role.

Leeds fans have been left questioning whether the correct decision was made as Dean Ashton was officially unveiled at Elland Road, The injury plagued striker formerly of Crewe, Norwich & West Ham was forced to retire early from the game and has been reportedly working non-stop to become a manager in the game and has now been given the chance after Warnock left the job following a rift with the board.

Ashton was capped once by England making his Debut and only appearance against Trinidad & Tobago 2 years after being called onto the injury scene yet missing out through injury which ultimately ended his career, Ashton scored 93 goals in 249 professional appearances between the year 2000-2009.

Ashton has admitted he is relishing the chance to get back into football again and is hoping the players will ignore his age and play for the jersey and help the club get back to the top level of the game and give the fans something to cheer about.

Leeds chairman Ken Bates has admitted it is a risk hiring a rookie manager however believes a fresh face could be whats needed and is willing to back his employee with the funds to bring in whats needed, It could either be another long season for Leeds or things could go to plan and Ashton could peform wonders and give the fans something to smile about as they once did in the Don Revie Era.

Ken Bates today unveiled that there was a number of players on the new managers radar and is going through some intense procedures to ensure the players selected are right for the job, Bates also warned that although there was a large number of staff members replaced that the manager still wasn't finished in looking to improve the backroom and everyone has to prove their worth to the team ensuring the best working relationship possible.

Bates had reportedley given the new man a 4 Million pound transfer budget and so far the manager has currently spent a small amount on paying for new staff members.

Dean Ashton was today dealt with his first blows as a manager when Samuel Armenteros & Carlton Cole both turned down the chance to join him at Leeds when both clubs accepted loan deals however the players refused to move to the championship side, Good news did follow though as Ashton raided Scotland for Celtic winger Paddy Mccourt and also signed Scottish striker Kris Boyd on a free.

Both players met up with the club for training as Ashton welcomed them into the squad for the first time, A press officer from the club released a statement from the manager saying he was delighted with his new players and he is still looking at more options but in the mean time he is working hard to have the team ready for the new season.
