That HAS to be Utd's stance no matter how much he wants out. NO exceptions!

It would be complete suicide to let Utd's only serious goal threat leave. ten Hag's presently working with one hand tied behind his back as it is with the complete lack of depth in midfield and upfront. If they allowed, de Gea excepted, their best player from last year to leave on top of that with no chance of replacing anything like his quality and output at this late stage in the window, would be beyond stupid.

Even for Utd who specialise in stupid through windows.

Utterly baffling how Utd aren't all over things like this for the money. Even with Ronaldo staying, forwards are sorely needed. To just leave that for a few months after failing to get Nunez is P poor on ten Hag. Unless he's driving that which would be more bizarre than anything.

For wanting out after the club continues to show little ambition as they, to date, completely F up another transfer window? All after he held up his end of the bargain last season.

Harsh that mate.

At 37, it's totally understandable why he'd want to go somewhere with ambition where he has a chance to win. Just Utd can't realistically allow that to happen or they'll be in an even deeper hole than they currently are.
