Toshack to leave Wales

Robbie Savage:

Savage, an old adversary of the Wales boss, told BBC Radio Five Live: "It is time John Toshack left Wales.
"I think we need a fresh start, fresh impetus. We need to get the crowds back and I think Toshack has to go.

"He has made enough excuses, he has been in the job six years. Judge him on his qualifying campaigns - they haven't qualified yet and they have got off to a terrible start again."
 
Toshack is a good manager, but look where Wales are now, and where they were when he took the helm. They haven't progressed, haven't reached a tournament. There are some cracking Welsh players out there, yet the national side is average at best. (no offence to the Welsh)

He is one of the best managers out of a job and so could easily get a better job than this one....

ah i see, apologies for me being slow. its a decent job for him though surely, the chance with a fairly competative side to reach a major tournament
 
I have a feeling it will be either Dave Jones or Chris Coleman. Cannot see martin O'Niell joining, he will be waiting for a biggish club to come along.
 
Shame, but he's trying to make bricks with straw with Wales. Until Welsh players start playing for Wales (/me waves to Owen) then every Welsh manager is going to have a small pool of players grow increasingly smaller. Only way round that is to introduce a massive scheme to help fund Welsh youth development - slight problem is that the big Welsh clubs are all in the English league, so you'd be looking at semi-pro teams which is nowhere near good enough for international football.

Welsh football is borked from grass roots up as a result of decisions taken decades ago.

Could've sworn Owen was born in Chester or somewhere?
 
Problem with Wales is they're squad isn't really that bad, they've got a few good young players including Collison, Bale, Church, Ramsey etc.. and some good experienced players like Bellamy, so the potential is there but I think they just need maybe 1 or 2 good Welsh players to come through at club level and a good manager to go with it and they might actually qualify from the group stages.. Toshack is a good manager though, shame he's leaving.
 
Toshak has ruined the Welsh national side, he spouts on about youth and revamping the team but he has achieved nothing but total failure.

When Hughes was boss, they challenged Italy for top spot in the Euro’ I think it was? Getting 70k + crowds and now look at them.

They have a great group of players, that have been together a while now, they should be performing better.

About time is all I have to say on the subject.
 
Ian rush we need someone with respect Toshack has been the worst manager 4 wales in years the only thing he done good 4 us was quitting.
 
proberly about time, he has had 6years and Wales have gone backwards.
 
Done alright with wales, like ****!, His tactics are like a dinosaur, he's got to realise the game has changed! Flynn for Manager!
 
They've got a good squad, good keepers in Myhill/Hennessey, and Owain Fon Williams ;)
Good defence in Ashley Williams (Who County made good) ;) and other good defenders like James Collins, got one of the best players in the premierleague in Bale, a quality player in Bale, good young players like Collison, Ramsey and Brian Stock, Toshack is a **** manager imho, and will be lucky if he gets a club job.
 
Toshack took us backwards......we got so close to qualifying under Mark Hughes where we lost in the euro 2004 play-offs against russia. And then tosh came in and had rows with players (Savage, Koumas) which meant they retired. I feel this is the best decision and hopefully someone could build for the future because we wont qualify for a number of years but Toshack has had 6 years to build and hes taken us backwards
