Tottenham managing discussion, patch 11.3

Hi there!


I've been following these forums since I started playing FM (somewhere around early january this year), but this is the very first post I am writting.

I have always been a huge fan of football, especially because my father works with it (you can even trace him in FM haha, he coaches a Serie B brazilian team, and yes, I am from Brasil :)) and because my brother played the CM series, but I never really played any management game instead of FM11.

So done with the introduction, let's get to the topic reason!


Looking at the 11.3 tranfers updates, tottenham seemed to me like a very fun team to play, and I decided to drop my old liverpool save to start the updated tottenham save.


Looking at the team, i've noticed that they have a LOT of very good midfielders and AMC's! It's so many good players that I got confused on who to use and how to use!


I've been thinking more of using a 4-3-2-1 xmas tree formation, with 2 wide midfielders (to use the potential of gareth bale and aaron lennon).


I Like playing offensive football, and that is why I got attracted to tottenham, cuz they have a very offensive team overall.


So, what do you guys think? what would be your's first eleven and their roles? Who would you buy/sell? What do you think of going for a offensive 4-3-2-1 formation with that team?

I just started one with tottenham on the new patch, I play 4 - 4 - 2 though smy players may be different too you becuase of the formation.
 
im playing 4-2-3-1 with wingers, no signings as of yet , no sales ... but i need a striker for about 9million
 
looking for a lad who can come in and score loads straight away tbh , and i have a smallish databse
 
so far in the pre-season i've been doing fine!

bought neymar for around 30million and he scored 2 in his first game, and on the next game scored 4!

I just don't seem to be getting the better of van der vaart, but on the other hand, bale and lennon are being great, both with 7.20 ~ 7.30 avg rate.


I'm bringing in Vrsaljko (right full back prospect, really cheap also, but you gotta go for him at the beginning, cuz benfica is always bidding around) and Elia just arrived!


I'm selling palacios and Jenas, they are very good but don't fit on my tactic, so i may be bringing some more lads =)

The only thing that's bugging me is that it looks like i'm not using van der vaart, modric and pienaar properly, cuz most of the time they are getting the lower ratings on the team (most around 6.9 ~ 7,4)
 
van der Vaart needs to be played as Advanced Playmaker-Attack to get the best out of him. If you want to play both vdV and Modric, try setting vdV as Advanced Playmaker Attack and Modric as deep lying playmaker.

As for the right back position, I personally wouldn't have bothered getting a prospect. You already have Walker and Naughton.

Palacios can be a good backup if used properly (he is awesome in my game) and is very effective when you need to grind out results (set him as ball-winning midfielder with defensive role). It'd be a good idea to hang on to him.

started 1st season, sold Jenas and Assou , brought in Vagner Love and got the board to sign Leighton Baines for me :) looking at this line up atm

I play a 4411 formation heres my line up:

Dawson
Baines

Lenon
Bale
VDV
Llorente

I play VDV as a inside foward and hes scored 5 in 6 games so far in the leauge im doing well currently 2nd everyones performing well espically Dawson and VDV.
 
I've been managing Spurs for the last 4 season and finally won the league in the last one. I bought in some players in that time, but I tend to play with almost the same players I started off with. Keane and Pav did well for me at first but soon became disappointing so I bought in Balotelli, Steven Fletcher and Necid. Necid started off well but his form dropped, so I am getting rid of him after only one season, and I have now got Tevez. Modric didn't perform well last season and I have plenty of attakcing midfielders to choose from so I sold him for £15m. I then bought Douglas Costa as Lennon under-performed last season. I could probably do with buying a world class centre back, but Dawson and Bassong did very well for most of last season. Just about to start my 5th season and hope to retain the Premier League crown and think I have a good chance. I've also been given the England job!
 
What formations do u guys play? Im stuck between 4231 with 2 DM's or a 4-4-1-1

For Cavani, it says joining napoli 1.7.2011 so I can't make offers, even though he is already at napoli (start of the game)

He is currently on loan at Napoli but they have agreed a price which will make the move permanent on that date so you will not be able to sign him untill then.
