van der Vaart needs to be played as Advanced Playmaker-Attack to get the best out of him. If you want to play both vdV and Modric, try setting vdV as Advanced Playmaker Attack and Modric as deep lying playmaker.

Would it work to have 2 guys trying to dictate the tempo of the team? And wouldn't it leave me too exposed to have 2 playmakers on the team?

gonna try it out though! thx for the advice!

So far in the season i lost some games to arsenal and west ham, but had a 2-1 win over R.Madrid for the champions league groupstage!

Also, for Pienaar, what do you guys suggest? I'm currently playing him as a attacking midfielder - attack and he sometimes perfoms well and sometimes doesn't show up the whole match :(

I have him deputising under Lennon as a Winger - Attack and he does decently. Also performs well covering for Jenas as a BtB mid.

For some quality signing i recommend.

- Pato ( Young and Good, good signing, Would be a perfect striker with Jermaine defoe as i have tested this myself did 28 goals in spurs)
- Arshavin (may be old, but still good though did around 45 goals for his 34 apperances in barcelona)
- Reina ( Great Keeper, avg rate. 7.0-8.0 Goalkeeper of year :D )
- Cesc Fabregas ( Great Playmaker, probaly the next xavi but even better and growing had a avg rate. of 8.0-8.5 Midfielder of year :) )

Just started my Spurs save, brought in Benzema on loan with an option to buy for 7.5m

Playing a 4-2-4 formation in pre season (VDV AMR as inside forward) working well atm

Gonna look to bring in Phil Jones at some point between now & end of season tho, just don't have the funds atm :(

I'm managing spurs. I never have the first window turned on so no signings till January.

anyway, i play 4-4-1-1. VdV as an inside forward/attack/no pressing/full creative freedom/moves into channels/long shots yes. He scores alot this way.

Gareth Bale AML/Inside forward/moves into channels/cross sometimes/long shots sometimes. Goals and assists, much more than conventional winger.

This is how i played on the last patch anyway. I don't make many signings. Dawson/Gallas formed a solid 3 year partnership, Kaboul RB/Bassong LB. Modric and Sissoko in the middle. As for a striker, i got Suarez but with new patch it's impossible.

Striker is not strictly necessary, because Defoe will score bucketloads on poacher/run on to ball.

If you play the two, you pretty much have to play with only one striker since you will want to have a defensive minded player too and Spurs being Spurs, you can't play without wingers. I use Sandro as Anchor Man and he's brilliant.

I have set vdV as the main playmaker, works like a charm.

VDV - Advanced Playmaker (Support)
Modric - Advanced Playmaker (Attack)
Bale - Defensive Winger (Support)

These are there best roles for 11.3 :)
