'Les Parry steps down as Tranmere Rover's Caretaker Manager for local lad Phil Dean'

Tranmere_Rovers_FC.png

Les Parry was announced as John Barnes' temporary replacement after a short spell from Barnes and McAteer, but now new manager Phil Dean has taken the reigns at Tranmere Rovers. However, Dean promises to keep Les Parry at the club and has returned him to his natural Physio role. With Rovers finishing 7th the previous season, suffering a heart-breaking last minute goal from Scunthorpe to crush their dreams of reaching the playoffs, Dean faces a difficult task with such high expectations but the financial issues Tranmere have seen recently forcing them to sell star players such as Danny Coyne, Steve Jennings, Ben Chorley and captain Anthony Kay suggests the task will prove difficult for the young manager.

First Press Conference

Do you think growing up and watching Tranmere Rovers games as a kid will have a specific impact on how you coach this club?

I think it has a factor, yes. I understand the situation the club is currently in as well as being able to relate to the fans. The players understand what is expected of them and with me in charge I believe the passion for the football club from both fans and players will remain intact, with the belief that we can reach promotion.

Under the financial crisis the club is going through, do you really believe that its possible to reach promotion? You have lost star players and been given little budget, surely you should just focus on staying up?

The finance is an issue - not a crisis. If the fans believe and I believe and escpecially the players believe we can have a chance of reaching the top 6, then of course it is possible.

With the current state of the club will bringing in new players be possible?

Of course it will, I will look for possible coups, free transfers and loanee's to help the club in the early parts of the season.

Ian-Thomas Moore is a fan favourite, would you agree?

Ian is a great player, and he will captain the club whist i'm in charge.

How do you think current captain Ian Goodison will react to this change?

I have spoken to him previously and he is determined to do whats best for the club.

That is all for today - thank you.

Reports are that new Tranmere Rovers boss Phil Dean was given a budget of £10k, with a wage budget of £26.5k per week.

Transfers In:

Ritchie De Laet - Manchester United - Loan

De Laet is a top player with a promising future, he can play either CB or RB which will give some depth to the club.

Nacer Barazite - Arsenal - Loan

'Excellent player, suberb capture for the club on a season long loan. The 19 year old attacking midfielder will be a definite starter in my XI.'

Nicolae Mitea - Free

'Brilliant left winger, just what the club needed. The 24 year old Romanian has blistering pace to attack the opposition down the flank, i'm really looking forward to seeing this guy in action.'

Kevin Bobson - Free

'Another left winger, as we were lacking on that side of the field. I plan to alternate between him and my recent signing Mitea. The dutch 28 year old has decent stats for a league one club.'

Abderrahman Kabous - Free

'Adbdera...Abdreh...er, Kabous looks to be a perfect player for the club, at the age of 26 I believe he can be the vocal point of the team, he's a strong central midfielder with alot of passion for the game.'

Dejan Stefanovic - Free

'Veteran defender, 34 year old Serbian will control the defending line with his experience'

In a local newspaper, Dean said:

'I am delighted with the signings, personally I believe the players brought in have the talent and the attitude to take the club to the next level.
'

Transfers Out

Gareth Edds - 50k

Chris Shuker - 50k

Didn't really want to let these players go, but we needed the money. Chris Shuker has had a great four seasons at the club as well as Edds spending two years in our team. Its sad to see them go, but thats football.

A decent start, a win would have been nice, we battled hard and I feel we deserved three points.

Pre-Match Conference

Leeds are seen as favourites to win the league this season, do you feel your side has the quality to cause an upset at Elland Road today?

Leeds are a strong side, yes. However, regardless of their stature its about how the game plays out on the day. I feel we have quality players to cause an upset as well as it being a real test of character for us.

You understand the importance of this fixture, are you starting to feel the nerves at all?

Being nervous suggests fear which is passed on to the players - I dont ever feel nervous.

ROVERS CAUSE UPSET!

Leeds 1 - 3 Tranmere
(Ian-Thomas Moore, Barazite, Stefanovic - Beckford)

Brilliant performance from the lads, we were expected to loose heavily but we shown we are certainly no pushovers. This win will do wonders for our confidence.
