'Les Parry steps down as Tranmere Rover's Caretaker Manager for local lad Phil Dean'
Les Parry was announced as John Barnes' temporary replacement after a short spell from Barnes and McAteer, but now new manager Phil Dean has taken the reigns at Tranmere Rovers. However, Dean promises to keep Les Parry at the club and has returned him to his natural Physio role. With Rovers finishing 7th the previous season, suffering a heart-breaking last minute goal from Scunthorpe to crush their dreams of reaching the playoffs, Dean faces a difficult task with such high expectations but the financial issues Tranmere have seen recently forcing them to sell star players such as Danny Coyne, Steve Jennings, Ben Chorley and captain Anthony Kay suggests the task will prove difficult for the young manager.

Do you think growing up and watching Tranmere Rovers games as a kid will have a specific impact on how you coach this club?
I think it has a factor, yes. I understand the situation the club is currently in as well as being able to relate to the fans. The players understand what is expected of them and with me in charge I believe the passion for the football club from both fans and players will remain intact, with the belief that we can reach promotion.
Under the financial crisis the club is going through, do you really believe that its possible to reach promotion? You have lost star players and been given little budget, surely you should just focus on staying up?
The finance is an issue - not a crisis. If the fans believe and I believe and escpecially the players believe we can have a chance of reaching the top 6, then of course it is possible.
With the current state of the club will bringing in new players be possible?
Of course it will, I will look for possible coups, free transfers and loanee's to help the club in the early parts of the season.
Ian-Thomas Moore is a fan favourite, would you agree?
Ian is a great player, and he will captain the club whist i'm in charge.
How do you think current captain Ian Goodison will react to this change?
I have spoken to him previously and he is determined to do whats best for the club.
That is all for today - thank you.
