Must have happened a couple of times 2000-2004 but I don't know, lost interest in F1 around then courtesy of it being very very dull

yep its Herman.. don't forget De Cesaris in the wreckless stakes

a lot can be said for seat belts saving lives but there is no doubt that if Herman was wearing a belt during this crash he would have died

Well yeah but he got lucky, seems as if he fell out before the car started rolling and didn't get dragged along with it or anything, it's at AVUS as well so he must have been going pretty ruddy fast!

Do post if you know of any video footage.

De Crasharis had a habit of getting himself in sticky situations as well
