To Glory...And beyond!
Author's note: I have been inspired by Mike's great story. This is based on my Crystal Palace save, which I have already made a story on but replaced that one for this one. Click here for that story.

I was, as usual, on my old and battered PS2 and playing Fifa 09. An old, second hand PS2 was all that I could afford, with a night-time shift at Asda and a day time (part time too) job at MacDonald's. I earned about £200 a week and I was sick and tired of it. I wanted a proper job, a full-time and quite highly paid job. I couldn't think of what I could do, I mean I was good at science at school but it won't be good enough for me to get a job to do with Science. There was only one thing I was good at which I loved, too. Football. I played Sunday League every Sunday for the best team in the league and I was top scorer but that was seriously not enough football for me. I wasn't too old to become a player, at the age of 30, but I doubt anyone would want me. I would have to consider coaching or management. I had played on a few manager games, like Championship Manager 2004 and Football Manager 2008 and I also liked to go on Manager Mode on Fifa so I don't think I would fail that much. Anyway, it would help to get some real experience. However, the chances of becoming even a Sunday League manager were quite small and it was near impossible to become a Premier League manager. Firstly, to become a manager you need coaching badges, don't you? At 7:00pm on the 12th of April 2009, I applied for a Fifa Coaching Course (FCC) in Lyon, France. I went to bed that night safe in the knowledge that soon I would become an official and licensed coach.

Nothing's really happened in these three days apart from the fact I have just heard from Fifa that the course starts on the 30th April and I need to meet at the Le France hotel at 3:00pm. I have all the details of my flight to Lyon and the other small details, such as what to wear, what to bring, etc. I've played on the PS2 most of the time, although I have had a small kickabout with my mates in the park. I am thinking about the FCC every second, every minute, every hour; I am just so excited.

I have just received a phone call from Sepp Blatter himself thanking me for joining the course and wishing me luck in 'my future career'. He also told me that after the visit to Lyon, he will be assigning us as assistant managers to some small clubs for a week to give us some 'experience'. After that week, we will manage some 'trial teams' for a matches against other trial teams. He also promised he would recommend us to chairmen as potential managers and managers as potential assistants. I can't wait: only 3 days left!
