Juventus F.C

Founded in 1897 Juventus are one of Italy's leading football clubs. They have played in the Serie A, the top division of Italian football every single season of their history apart from the 2006/2007 season. Juve as they are often nicknamed are Italy's most succesful club and they've won Italy's top division 27 times! Other honours include 2 Champions League titles, 9 Coppa Italia's and 3 UEFA Cups.

Juventus are not currently at their best, they lost a lot of their top players after being relegated to Serie B due to a match fixing scandal which shocked Italian football. They still have a great squad at the moment though and are expected to be in Italy's top 4 for the 2009/2010 season.

Berivoj Stolar?!

After a major turn of events, Berivoj Stolar was the man names as Juve's new man in charge. Andrea Agnelli, the clubs chairman apparently had a major bust up with Ciro Ferrara and relieved him of his duties the next day, not publicly however. On 1st July 2009 Andrea Agnelli arranged a press conference at Stadio Olimpico. He told the Italian press what had happened and that he had sacked Ferrara. Later on however he announced he would name his new manager there and then. Many people had ideas of who would take over, managers such as Marcello Lippi, Guus Hiddink, Claudio Ranieri and Fabio Capello were all mentioned.

''The new man, that I have chosen to appoint to lead Juventus F.C is Berivoj Stolar!''

Berivoj Stolar is pictured on the right here at Stadio Olimpico as he is presented at the stadium by the club chairman!

Berivoj Stolar explained who he was and why he is at Juventus. He's Croatian and he is 33 years of age. Juventus is only his second managerial role. His first role was at NK Istra from Croatia where he never did anything remarkable. He did, however, improve the team slightly and in his 4 years at the club he improved their financial situation admirably.

He told the press that he has followed F.C Barcelona most of his life but Slaven Belupo was his Croatian club and he always admired Juventus. He told the journalists that when he was 9 he saved all of his money to but a Juventus search with his favourite player name on the back, Michel Platini.

His plans for Juventus were simple. He wanted to make them the best in Italy, his main aim to be better than and to win more than Inter within 2 seasons. He then wanted to make the team the best in Europe and, the world. He said he wanted to clear the clubs debt as soon as possible as he did at NK Istra in his first job. He seemed very capable when it came to finances and Berivoj Stolar seemed very serious about the job giving us all sorts of facts, expectations, aspirations and essentially telling us what he wants out of the team and what he aims to do himself.

Many fans, and journalists alike are attacking Agnelli. Many stating that he has only appointed Stolar because his wages are cheap and that he won't feel the need to argue if Agnelli himself decides to intervene in club matters. However we will have to wait and see...

Good start, nice detail and layout.
Ill follow.

What happened to the Blackpool one, I was looking forward to you updating that :(

Oh well, I'll follow this one anyway :)

Aaah sorry Sam, a few people started making Blackpool stories and I don't really like managing in England so I decided to close it.

Nice. I did a save with Juventus and after a few years I pretty much won everything and dominated the game. Good luck.

Yeah, when that happens, I plan to move on ;)

Tactic

4-4-2/Narrow diamond

I created the tactic essentially to keep possesion. Upon losing possesion the players would do their upmost to win it back, with a lot of closing down. It is quite close to the sort of game Chelsea play under Ancellotti and that is what I called it. Ancellotti. Lets hope it works :)

Pre-season

Main thing is to get the players fit during this period, I do not regard the results as important and like to tweak tactics according to what happens during pre-season matches.

Home
Juventus 4-2 Juventus res

Home
Juventus 6-0 Cesi

Away
Standard 1-3 Juventus

Away
A.C Milan 3-0 Juventus

Away
Pescara 0-1 Juventus

Nearly all players seemed happy after pre-season, most players gaining full match fitness.

Staff

I always like to have a strong backroom team. I didn't want to have a big clear out however. After discovering the club had far too many youth coaches I decided to let Mario Rotondale go and I also promoted a few of the youth coaches to general coaches.

I brought in mainly scouts and coaches which we had a bit of a shortage of. I also terminated Maddaloni's contract who was my assistant manager. I asked Massimo Neri if he wanted to become my new assistant, he delightfully accepted. I'm happy, I feel my new backroom team is very good and I only spent 325K, all on Christian Henna.

Transfers

I made a few transfers. The main aim was a creative centre mid and a striker to replace Trezeguet who I cashed in on because of his age. I had a lot of failed bids on players, Neymar, Joao Moutinho, Hulk and Paloschi to name a few.

So there they are. Near enough broke even which I was quite happy with. Salihovic adds some creativity and Soldado is not massively different from David Trezeguet, he is a bit quicker and the front line has not got too much pace so he will really add something to the team. He is also quite young at 24. After rejecting a bid from Man United for Paolo De Ceglie he became unhappy so I decided to let him go, he moved to Arsenal for 7.5 Million. That left me needing a left back. I signed Peter Masilela for just 1 Million making a 6.5 Million profit and to be honest Masilela is as good as De Ceglie! Brice Ntambwe is a young Belgian player, and if I train him right he could become a brilliant deep-lying playmaker. Hasan Salihamadzic was surplus to requirements and is getting on a bit so I decided to sell him.

Two games two wins

As we enter September we look over Berivoj Stolar's first two games at Juventus, and many are thinking, actually he might be alright.

His first game was a big challenge, playing against Fiorentina. As the game approached the 35th minute Felipe Melo struck one sweetly, low and hard into Sebastien Frey's net. After the break Juventus came out and looked even better than they did in the first, dominating Fiorentina quite comfortably. As Claudio Marchisio readied himself to come on Amauri slotted one home after a great ball from Alessandro Del Piero, making the game 2-0. It was pretty comfortable for Juve from here on in and Stolar gave Salihovic 15 minutes playing time, he also brought Soldado on late on. First game couldn't of went any better for Stolar

Juventus 2-0 Fiorentina

Other game this month:
Juventus 1-0 Atalanta

Player of the month:
Alessandro Del Piero - A goal and two assists from the Italian legend

August

Disaster?

Buffon picked up an injury before the game against Bari, it would rule him out for 2 weeks.

After a couple of great games in August, Juventus approached September expecting more of the same with a trip to Bari next up. But, it wouldn't prove to be that easy. Bari started comfortably, creating chances and Barreto looked dangerous. The Juventus defense were struggling, Bari were outplaying Juve. 28th minute, 1-0. It was all too easy for Barreto and he finished off a chance he made all by himself. Approaching half time, Juve were battling back into it, making a few chances but not threatening Bari. On the 43rd minute, however, Mauro Camoranesi seemed frustrated. There was no excuse for the behavior that followed though. Camoranesi elbowed a Bari midfielder needlessly and as a result was sent off, leaving his side with 10 men. Going into the 2nd half would prove difficult for Stolar. He decided to keep it generally the same, leaving 3 in midfield. The 2nd half would prove disastrous. Between the 50th and 60th minutes Barreto destroyed Juventus making it 3-0 scoring 2 brilliant goals and ripping Juventus' defense apart. In the 65th minute Diego gave Juventus a glimmer of hope, curling one into the top corner but Juventus couldn't convert any more chances. The game finished 3-1 to Bari, Buffon still out and Camoranesi picked himself a suspension up.

Bari 3-1 Juventus

Other games this month:
Juventus 1-0 Bordeaux - Champs League, Group C
Catania 0-0 Juventus
Juventus 1-0 Sampdoria
Rubin 1-3 Juventus - Champs League, Group C

Player of the month: Diego - He, and Del Piero, the only players who performed to a high standard this month

Great stuff Ben keep it up :) Unlucky with Buffon getting injured and the bad discipline from Camorensi. I'd say you would have trashed Bari only for that!

Yeah, along with Barreto being absolutely exceptional :(

Ups and downs

Juventus entered October looking ready and willing. Injuries were healed and suspensions were also finished.

The main game of the month for Juventus was against Palermo. After inconsistent results over October, Juventus had to beat Palermo to get themselves going again into November. It was a late kick-off at Renzo Barbera in Palermo 8.45 PM. The players walked out onto the field, and the Juventus team looked especially determined. What had Stolar done to the team? The Palermo game came on the back of an embaressing 1-0 defeat to Cagliari. Juventus were 2-0 up within 20 minutes. The players were first to everything and Palermo, a very decent side were being torn apart, easily. Juve had 5 corners in the first half an hour before slowing down a bit until half-time. Juventus looked quality in the first 30 minutes though, some of the quick passing and one-two's, especially were mouth-watering. Diego was dictating play, the ball was often quickly played to him although he would take no more than 3 touches before playing it on. He combined with Alessandro Del Piero to devastating effect. Juventus never looked as good in the 2nd half, it seemed Stolar had told them to slow it down a little and whilst looking comfortable they never looked anywhere near as good as in the first half an hour. In the 72nd minute Chiellini won the ball back from Javier Pastore and started what would be a 3rd for Juventus. The move contained 19 passes and was finished by Alessandro Del Piero who dribbled past 3 defenders before finishing by taking on the goalkeeper also. The match finished 3-0 and Juventus looked like a contender for the title.

Palermo 0-3 Juventus

Other games this month:
Roma 1-1 Juventus
Juventus 2-1 FC Bayern
Cagliari 1-0 Juventus

Player of the month: Fabio Grosso - A player who hasn't had enough praise, he has been terrific at left-back

October

'Complacency is the problem' says Stolar

Speaking to Italian journalists this morning, Juventus manager, Berivoj Stolar insisted the team suffers from complacency. He said 'The players must get complacent. When we play against the big teams we perform, look at Roma and Bayern, we got good results in those matches. We also got the right result against Palermo who are a good team whereas we got beat by Cagliari and Bari last month'. I will look to rectify the problem and hopefully the team can learn from their mistakes and gain some consistency'.

Buffon shows his disappointment as Juventus are beaten by Cagliari

How is Roberto Soldado doing so far?

I normally play Amauri and Del Piero. Soldado hasn't been great from what I've seen of him. He will hopefully improve as he plays more.

Only just caught up to reading this. :)

Look forward to seeing more.
