TRANSFERS

IN

View attachment 222504

Dylan Freedman has joined us on a permanent basis after his release from Dundee United at the end of the season.

View attachment 222490

Imposing central midfielder Jim Barbour has joined us on loan from Hibernian until the end of the season.

View attachment 222489

Striker David Cunningham has joined us on loan from St. Johnstone for the season. What he lacks in technical ability he certainly makes up for in effort.

View attachment 222488

Athletic full back Dean Esslemont has joined on loan for the season to provide depth in the position.

View attachment 222482

Aidan Smith has joined us after his release by Clyde. He has a good goalscoring record and age is on his side so hopefully he will be an asset.

OUT

View attachment 222499
After just one season with the club, Paul Young has departed to Clyde despite my attempts to keep hold of him.

View attachment 222476
View attachment 222475

Due to the incoming strikers, there is sadly no room in the squad anymore for these two. McPherson has only made 22 appearances in 5 years and Jackson only made 4 last season.

View attachment 222460

Irvine was unhappy at the club, so there was really no keeping hold of him.

View attachment 222458

It's generally a given that players will leave if they are offered a contract elsewhere, and it was no different here.

ALMOST

View attachment 222498

We (And a few other clubs) offered for Connor Ross following his release from Ross County, but he ultimately opted to join Clyde, disappointed with this one, as it would have been a bit of a coup for the club.

View attachment 222455

We tried to sign ex Clyde defender Stephen Miller for next season, but our offer was leaked and he ultimately joined East Fife.

SEASON OPENING CUP GAMES

We lost another player going into our opening cup games, as Paul Duff has departed to Berwick Rangers.

View attachment 222407

One signing that i forgot to mention, too...

View attachment 222402

Ali McLean, a forward with good potential, signed before the transfer window actually opened, he will provide some decent depth for now.

Not great news, as it leaves us a little short in the wide areas. I also hoped that we would be able to get a few more faces in before the openers, but finding the right players is no easy task right now. There's still hope to get a few in in the coming weeks, though.

QUEEN'S PARK VS AYR (Challenge Cup First Round)

View attachment 222406

Similar looking lineup to last season, but there are debuts for Aidan Smith, Jim Barbour and Dean Esslemont. As the news said, our last 4 encounters with Ayr have ended in a draw, hopefully we can swing this one in our favour.

We made a strong start to the game, and took the lead when Welsh chipped the ball just inside the area to Smith, who volleyed through a crowd of players past Hall to give us a 1-0 advantage and bag a debut goal. We nearly threw the lead away in the 55th minute, when Ayr cleared a corner up the field, a clearance which was latched on to by Donaldson, but his effort was well blocked by Little. Ayr had another opportunity in stoppage time, greatly outnumbering us on a counter attack, but Jeffires ultimately squandered the chance, hitting his effort straight at Muir, who made a smart save.

View attachment 222405View attachment 222404View attachment 222403

Not the greatest performance in the world, but a win all the same, and a good way to kick off the season.

View attachment 222401

Probably one of the worst draws we could have hoped for, but it'll be a big occasion for us either way.

FORFAR V QUEEN'S PARK (League Cup First Round)

View attachment 222390

Five changes from the win over Ayr, with McLean, Cunningham, Craigie, Steven Smith and Gibson coming in for Collins, Court, Welsh, Little and Thomson. We'll have to keep a special eye on Eammon Brophy, who was on loan to us in the 14/15 season.

The match started horrendously for us, as in the first minute, McArthur slid in Hilson, who found the bottom left corner from just inside the area. Dreadful. Things were set to get worse for us in the 23rd minute, when Steven Smith shoved O'Neill following a corner. O'Neill took the responsibility on himself and found the roof of the net with his penalty. We had a chance of our own in the 43rd minute, when a corner was cleared as far as Craigie, who nodded the ball back into the area, Freedman beat Caraux to the ball and set up McLean, who lashed the ball into an empty net to score on his debut and halve the deficit. We were back on level terms in the 77th minute, as Craigie played a corner to the edge of the box and found Court, whose volley was superbly saved by Caraux, but the ball fell into the path of McKenzie, who fired in to make it 2-2 and complete a superb fightback and ultimately send the match into extra time.

We caught a lucky break in the opening minutes of the 2nd half of extra time, as Hilson was found with a clearance up the field as we tried to breakaway, but he was flagged offside as he slid the ball past Muir into the net. The match would go into penalties...

FORFAR 1 - 0 QUEEN'S PARK (McArthur finds the right hand side with a powerful effort)
FORFAR 1 - 1 QUEEN'S PARK (Gibson lashes it down the middle and beats Caraux)
FORFAR 2 - 1 QUEEN'S PARK (O'Neill places his penalty into bottom right corner despite Muir guessing right)
FORFAR 2 -2 QUEEN'S PARK (Court powers into the bottom left corner)
FORFAR 3 - 2 QUEEN'S PARK (Hilson goes down the middle as Muir goes left)
FORFAR 3 - 3 QUEEN'S PARK (Hardie finds the top left corner with a precise penalty)
FORFAR 4 - 3 QUEEN'S PARK (Husband uses power to beat Muir)
FORFAR 4 -4 QUEEN'S PARK (Barbour waits for Caraux to dive before placing his penalty down the middle)
FORFAR 5 - 4 QUEEN'S PARK (Stewart goes just to the right of the middle of the goal)
FORFAR 5 - 5 QUEEN'S PARK (Muir takes the responsibility and finds the top right corner, not bad for a keeper!)
FORFAR 6 - 5 QUEEN'S PARK (Muir guesses correctly but can't stop McMillan's penalty)
FORFAR 6 - 6 QUEEN'S PARK (Craigie also finds the top right corner)
FORFAR 7 - 6 QUEEN'S PARK (Rowan sends Muir the wrong way and converts his penalty)
FORFAR 7 - 7 QUEEN'S PARK (Freedman finds the bottom left corner)
FORFAR 8 - 7 QUEEN'S PARK (MacLennan does the same)
FORFAR 8 - 8 QUEEN'S PARK (Esslemont places his penalty in the top left corner)
FORFAR 8 - 8 QUEEN'S PARK (Syme goes down the middle but Muir doesn't move and pushes it out!)
FORFAR 8 - 9 QUEEN'S PARK (McLean finds the bottom left corner to win the shootout for us!)

After a truly great match and an exceptional display of penalty taking from both sides, i'm thrilled to advance to the next round.

Unfortunately, we did sustain and injury in the game, and Steven Smith will be out for 5-6 weeks with a pulled hamstring. The full back positions aren't exactly looking reinforced right now.

We also had another player poached from us, as the team we just overcame, Forfar, have signed Jonny Court.

We were in for a surprise too, as we learned who our opponents in the second round of the League Cup would be...

We will be welcoming Scottish giants Rangers to Hampden. It will take a huge effort for us to progress, but it will be incredible to be involved in either way

Tough challenge you are doing, Pretty certain you won't ever turn pro either unless you have unchecked it in editor because the club are set to stay Amateur indefinitely! which makes it really tough to progress. Good luck though.

It does seem a bit daft having such a massive stadium when the attendances barely make it over 500!

AUGUST 2019

An incoming transfer before we kick off the league season, as we have signed pacey forward Charlie Leask on loan from Aberdeen to bolster our options up front after the departure of Court.

View attachment 222263

Unfortunately, he suffered a damaged heel just before joining, therefore he will likely be out until our game against Clyde.

EAST FIFE V QUEEN'S PARK (League One)

View attachment 222262

Four changes from the cup game, as McKenzie, Auriemma, Little and Thomson come in for McLean, Craigie, Gibson and Smith. A tough away game to start the season against newly promoted East Fife. They have only beaten us once in 12 meetings though, so hopefully that trend carries on.

We made a good start to the game when, in the 2nd minute, Esslemont saw his effort blocked by Davidson before the ball ran into the path of Auriemma, whose shot was well saved by Gott. East Fife weren't just going to soak up pressure however, and had a chance themselves when Dickson whipped in an inswinging cross and found Davidson, but his effort was superbly denied by Muir. We fell behind just before half time when East Fife counter attacked following a throw in down the other end, allowing Todd to run through and score despite Muir getting a hand on the ball.

We nearly equalised in the 56th minute when a corner broke to Thomson, but his close range effort was saved by Gott. We finally found the net in the 68th minute when McKenzie received a chipped ball from Welsh before dinking the ball first time to the back post where Thomson easily headed in to equalise. Thomson's influence on the game wasn't over there, however it was for quite different reasons in the 74th minute, when he received his second yellow card for a trip on Mullen. This didn't slow us down too much, and we came forward again in the 80th minute when Welsh picked up a long throw from Little, his initial effort was blocked by MacDonald, but the ball fell back to him and he crashed the rebound shot against the bar. East Fife countered, and should have scored when Murray played Ramsey through on goal, but he blazed his effort high and wide. Unfortunately, he would make no mistake in the 85th minute, when he turned in an early cross from Stephen Miller.

View attachment 222261View attachment 222260

That really rankles, we didn't deserve to lose that. Ricky Little was named in the team of the week for his showing.

KILMARNOCK V QUEEN'S PARK (Challenge Cup 2nd Round)

View attachment 222259

Seven changes from the loss to East Fife, as Greig, Wylie, Davison, Welsh, Coll, Gibson and Marr replace McKenzie, Cunningham, Smith, Auriemma, Esslemont, Little and Thomson. I'm in a pretty bad mood after that East Fife game, and it's probably not going to get better here.

We fell behind in just the 6th minute, when McManus latched on to a long ball from Spark before placing it past Muir to make it 1-0. We weren't down for too long however, as we came forward in the 12th minute, and equalised when Greig tapped in after Davison's shot was parried out by Salmon! Kilmarnock's individual quality would shine through in the 37th minute however, when Keita curled a free kick into the top left corner from 25 yards. Kilmarnock nearly doubled the lead in the 71st minute, when McManus volleyed a Spark cross over the bar. McManus made no mistake a couple of moments later however, finding the bottom right corner after being played in by Longridge. Spark was causing problems again down our right flank, and found Cammy Smith with an early cross, but he somehow missed from just outside the 6 yard area.

View attachment 222258View attachment 222257

No real surprise there, we were never really in that one.

QUEEN'S PARK V MONTROSE (League One)

View attachment 222256

Another seven changes from the defeat to Kilmarnock, with Horribine, Smith, Cunningham, Craigie, Esslemont, Little and Mitchell coming in for Greig, Wylie, Davison, Freedman, Coll, Gibson and Marr. After two disappointing road trips, hopefully we can get back to winning ways in front of our own fans.

We took a blow in the 27th minute, when Aidan Smith was forced off with an injury, not a good sign. Things got worse in the 39th minute, when Splaine whipped in an early cross and found Walker, who was somehow unmarked inside the 6 yard box, and he easily tapped in. I could only kick a water bottle down the touchline in frustration. We nearly found an equaliser just after half time, but McKenzie's effort from just inside the area was saved by McKay, McKenzie had another chance a few minutes later, but his volley from 20 yards grazed the bar and went over.

View attachment 222253View attachment 222252

The second league game in a row which we have honestly dominated and came away with nothing, we need to stop throwing away these chances.

CLYDE V QUEEN'S PARK (League One)

View attachment 222247

Five changes for this game, as McLean, Freedman, Gibson, Thomson and the debuting Leask come in for Horribine, Cunningham, Welsh, Little and Mitchell. We really need to start picking up points soon, and this would be a good time to start against our rivals.

The first real action of the game came in the 54th minute, when Duthie struck from just inside the area, but his effort hit the left hand post. We took the lead against the run of play on the hour mark, when McLean volleyed home from 6 yards after Thomson found him with a cross. Clyde had another chance in the 63rd minute, but Duthie's effort from just inside the area was tipped over by Muir. We came forward in the 68th minute, but were denied when McLean's effort was blocked by a last ditch challenge by McGhee. We came close again in the 75th minute but Craigie's volley from just outside the area was easily held by Martin. Less than a minute later we had another golden chance when Leask played in Craigie with a reverse ball, but Craigie's effort was superbly saved.

Clyde had a superb chance of their own just past the 80 minute mark when Duthie ran through on goal, but Muir made himself big and saved the one on one. Just when it looked like we were going to hold on for a first win of the season, it all came crashing down when who else but Jamie Miller was played in by Ferguson, and slid the ball past Muir in the 94th minute to equalise against the side he played for last season. Absolutely devastating.

View attachment 222245View attachment 222244

Gutting to draw that one, but hopefully we can use that good performance as a platform. Muir, Craigie and McLean were named in the team of the week.

QUEEN'S PARK V RANGERS (League Cup Round 2)

View attachment 222239

Four changes from the game against Clyde, as Collins, Welsh, Little and Mitchell come in for McLean, Craigie, Gibson and Thomson. Here it is, the big game against Rangers, i'm certainly not expecting a win, but i hope we don't disgrace ourselves.

We should have been behind after 10 minutes when Murray found Fransergio in the box, but Muir held his effort well. Rangers had another great chance to score 20 minutes later when Fransergio played a ball to the back post and found Kane, but Muir flung himself in front of the shot to keep the score at 0-0. Rangers were peppering our goal, and should have been ahead once again in the 41st minute when Fransergio beat Little to the ball, but Muir dove down to his right to save the first shot before popping back up and saving the rebound with his legs, and Hardie slid in to prevent another chance. Muir was like a real life super hero right now.

Half time came and went, but Rangers weren't going to let up, and finally found the breakthrough 10 minutes after the break when Kane tapped in from inside the 6 yard area after being found by McKay. Shame, but it was coming. In the 81st minute, Freedman took an ambitious shot with a long range free kick, Boyd got himself behind it, but the ball spilled out of his hands right into the path of about 4 onrushing, unmarked Queen's Park players, and Gavin Mitchell slammed into an empty net to make it 1-1! Unfortunately, just a minute later, Collins was taken off with an injury, and typically, we had no substitutes left. Incredibly, 2 minutes before full time, Esslemont was also forced off after suffering an injury, we were getting really, really unlucky here. We were able to hold on and send the game into extra time, however.

Unfortunately, in the second half of extra time, Rangers' 2 man advantage was made to count, as they caught us on the counter attack allowing McKay to run through on goal and beat Muir to make it 2-1. We pushed hard for an equaliser but were caught on the counter again, allowing Stevenson to make it 3-1.

View attachment 222238View attachment 222237View attachment 222236

A shame to lose that one, we were always going to be slightly outclassed by Rangers but i think we were a little unfortunate with the two late injuries, that really hampered our chances, no shame in the result either way.

We set a new record for gate receipts for the game too, as we drew an attendance of 4,663

View attachment 222235

Sadly, we also had another player poached from us, and a potentially very good one at that, as Stirling have taken Rhys Craigie from us.

View attachment 222234

Very, very frustrating. To make things worse, Sean McKenzie suffered a bruised rib in training and will be out for roughly 2 weeks.

QUEEN'S PARK V RAITH (League One)

View attachment 222233

Four changes from the game against Rangers, as McLean, Auriemma, Coll and Gibson come in for Collins, Welsh, Little and Mitchell. Hopefully we can end the month on a high.

Raith could easily have taken the lead in the first minute, when Ferris volleyed towards goal from 6 yards, but his effort went straight into the arms of Muir. Raith did take the lead in the 13th minute however, when Ferris nodded the ball back into the area following a clearance, and Buchanan was allowed to run un opposed and place the ball past Muir. Then, after half an hour, a Raith corner was cleared by Hardie only as far as Murdoch, who headed back into the box , and in the middle of a crowd of players, Buchanan was able to volley home to make it 2-0. Less than 10 minutes later, a long ball over the top evaded the head of Coll, allowing Gardyne to run through on goal, his initial effort was saved by Muir, but the ball fell to Ferris, who found the top corner to score Raith's 3rd goal of the day. This was embarrassing, we were being murdered in front of our own fans.

View attachment 222232View attachment 222231

A frankly gutless performance. We're in for another long season at this rate.

SEPTEMBER 2019

Even more bad news to kick off the month, as unfortunately Scott Gibson has jumped ship to join Rhys Craigie at Stirling. Gibson started his career here and went on to make over 150 appearances so it's a shame to see him go, but with the way we are right now, he might know what he's doing.

View attachment 222189

Ricky Little is doing his best for the side though, as he is currently sitting as the highest rated player in the league.

View attachment 222188

QUEEN'S PARK V BERWICK (League One)

View attachment 222187

Five changes from the mullering in the last game, as Greig, Davison, Welsh, Little and Marr replace McLean, Smith, Auriemma, Coll and the departed Gibson. An improvement is an absolute must here, otherwise we could be heading into crisis territory.

We took a surprise early lead when a corner was cleared only as far as Welsh, whose shot was blocked on the way to goal, but the ball fell into the path of Davison, who tapped into an empty net to give us a 1-0 lead The next chance of the game fell to Berwick in the 13th minute, when Quitongo fired over from just inside the area.

We should have been 2-0 up in the 53rd minute, when an attempted clearance by Mutch was hit too low and hit Leask, but Mutch recovered and got down well to block Leask's shot. Berwick came forward in the 70th minute, and after Hardie had tackled Quitongo, the ball fell to Storie, who shot into the top left corner from just inside the area. Typical.

View attachment 222186View attachment 222185
Truth be told, Berwick probably deserved something from that game, but to draw again from a winning position is frustrating.

ELGIN V QUEEN'S PARK (League One)

View attachment 222184

Two changes from the draw against Berwick, as Horribine and U20s player Watson come in for Greig and Marr. Hopefully we can replicate our performance from the last game, if we do, we'll be hard to beat.

The game started very similarly to the last one, and we took an early lead, Welsh crossed the ball in after beating his man, Leask headed against the bar, the ball bounced off Coleman and rolled towards the line, before Sinclair miscued his clearance and passed it right back to Leask, who had an easy finish to make it 1-0. Scrappy as you'll see, but a goal nonetheless. We were only ahead until the 24th minute however. Graham's effort hit the inside of the left hand post and rolled out to the right hand side, where both Hardie and Watson failed to react in time, allowing Hay to nip in between them and tap into an empty net. We were nearly back in front 4 minutes later when Hardie got onto a cross to the back post, but the cross was too deep and he couldn't hook the ball back round the post.

Elgin had a chance of their own a moment later, when a long ball over the top was missed by Little (again), allowing Graham to run in on goal, but Muir was on hand to deny him. After a long lull in play, we fell behind in the 80th minute when Coleman volleyed in a Hay free kick.

View attachment 222183View attachment 222182

The situation is getting pretty serious now, we can't get a win from anywhere.

I was also offered a job again by Cliftonville in Northern Ireland, but, as tempting as it is, i'm not going anywhere.

View attachment 222181

FORFAR V QUEEN'S PARK (League One)

View attachment 222180

Six changes from the loss to Elgin, as Greig, Smith, Cunningham, Auriemma, Thomson and Mitchell replace Horribine, Leask, Davison, Freedman, Watson and Little.

We were behind in the 6th minute of the game, when Hardie tackled Hilson and the ball fell to Alex MacDonald, and the former Burnley man found the net from 8 yards. We should have been level 5 minutes later when Smith set up Cunningham, but his left footed shot from 10 yards was somehow saved by Caraux. We were level in the 33rd minute however, when Smith volleyed past Caraux from just inside the area. The level terms didn't last long though, as just 6 minutes later, Pressley touched a Hilson cross round Thomson before finding the bottom right corner to make it 2-1. In the 55th minute, Forfar had a great chance to take a 2 goal lead when Esslemont foolishly shoved MacDonald after a free kick was floated in from the halfway line. O'Neill stepped up and put his penalty right down the middle to make it 3-1.

We came close to a consolation 4 minutes from time, but Smith's strike from just inside the area hit the bar and bounced clear. We were awarded a penalty mere seconds later however as, after Leask's effort was tipped wide by Caraux, Allan had a rush of blood to the head and bundled over Greig, leading to the ref pointing to the spot. Welsh stepped up, and powered the penalty home to give us a slim chance of getting back into the game, sadly though, it wasn't enough.

View attachment 222178View attachment 222177

Another defeat to add to our collection, and we are really starting to fall adrift of the pack.

Due to our struggles, i have decided to bring in ex Inverness centre back Stevie Scott to bolster our back line. Hopefully he can make a difference, as we have been shipping a lot of goals recently.

View attachment 222175

It appears our U20s were showing us how to do it, too.

View attachment 222172

We have also made the decision to release our stalwart Sean Burns, as he felt he needed a new challenge and wasn't getting anywhere here, i had no plans to put him in the side, so i think it's only right he moves on.

View attachment 222171

I shall never forget some of the quality performances he put in for us down in League 2. Thank you Sean.

Burns might have had an ulterior motive for wanting to leave however, as almost instantly i saw this in the local paper.

View attachment 222170

Wonder how long he's been waiting to say that...

QUEEN'S PARK V AIRDRIE (League One)

View attachment 222169

Five changes from the defeat to Forfar, as McLean, Leask, Freedman, Biggart and the debuting Scott come in for Greig, Cunningham, Auriemma, Thomson and Mitchell. This is probably one of the best chances we have of getting a win this season, at home to Airdrie, who currently sit 8th in the league.

Unfortunately, things didn't really go to plan, as an attempted clearance by Biggart hit Megginson before running into the path of Dunbar, who placed the ball past Muir to make it 1-0. We were level almost instantly however, when Smith tapped in from inside the 6 yard area after Leask played the ball across the goal. Airdrie had another chance in the 50th minute with Megginson, but he fired well over the bar. 7 minutes later and we took the lead when Davidson could only parry a McLean free kick into the path of the onrushing Smith, who easily scored to bag his second of the game and make it 2-1! Why i decided to get excited, i don't know, i should no better, as Airdrie equalised moments later when Campbell headed past Muir after a Muirhead cross.

Megginson had a chance to ****** a winner in the 84th minute after a long ball over the top, but he fired well wide from just inside the area. He didn't make the same mistake a minute later though, as he slid the ball past Muir after being set through by Campbell. We had thrown everything away yet again.

View attachment 222168View attachment 222167

Another game, another uninspiring defeat.

Despite our horrendous form, i was still being linked with jobs.

View attachment 222166

So, that now makes it 10 games without a win for us. I really don't know where 3 points will come from. We've been in bad places before but at this rate we'll be relegated with months left in the season. The fans are starting to become unsettled, yes, we're an amateur side, we always will be, we always expect to be outclassed, but we're better than this, we've shown it in the past, and we need to do it again soon.

Tough run there, that last fixture in particular you just didn't have the luck :/ I'm sure you can turn it around though!

OCTOBER 2019

QUEEN'S PARK V EAST FIFE (League One)

View attachment 222133

Three changes from the Airdrie game, as Greig, Davison and Watson come in for McLean, Smith and Biggart. This is another league game we should definitely be looking at as a winnable game.

Unfortunately, we fell behind in the 21st minute when an unmarked Todd headed in a Hogg corner. After nearly an hour of totally uneventful football, we found an equaliser in the 80th minute when Freedman headed a Greig cross into the top left corner to score his first goal for the club.

View attachment 222128View attachment 222127

A draw was the least we deserved from that match. We're still looking for that elusive win, though.

While we wait all of 2 weeks until our next league game, we find out who we'll be facing in the Scottish Cup...

QUEEN'S PARK V COWDENBEATH (League One)

View attachment 222113

Two changes from the last game, as Horribine and Cunningham replace Greig and Davison. Another home game should be useful for us, we need to take advantage.

We should have been 1-0 up inside 20 minutes when Leask was found with a cross from Watson, but his volley struck the foot of the post and bounced out. Our chances took a blow just before the half hour mark, when Dylan Freedman had to come off with an injury. You could forgive me for thinking that'd be the only injury we'd sustain, but no, just moments later, Welsh also had to be replaced. Then, in the 36th minute, we fell behind when Small headed a Caldwell free kick past Muir to make it 1-0 to Cowdenbeath. Leask had another chance to score just before half time when he took the ball past Rose, but he hit his shot straight at Sneddon. We nearly conceded in horrific fashion just after half time, as Marr attempted a long ball up the field which hit the back of Mitchell's leg and fell into the box and to Paton, but he blazed over the bar.

Leask again should have scored in the 72nd minute after being set up by Mitchell, but his snap shot went straight into the arms of Sneddon. We finally found the net in the dying minutes when Leask took an Esslemont throw in down before laying it off to Marr, who drilled it under Sneddon to equalise. There was still time for us to have a lucky escape, when in the last minute of stoppage time, Caldwell drilled a free kick from 25 yards out which rattled our crossbar.

MONTROSE V QUEEN'S PARK (League One)

View attachment 222107

One change for this game, as Biggart replaces Watson.

We were awarded a penalty in just the 20th minute, when McDonald slid in from behind on Cunningham. Admittedly, it looked dubious. Cunningham dusted himself down and blasted his penalty home. We were lucky not to be pegged back moments later when McIntosh was found open in the box with a cross, but he could only head onto the crossbar, allowing us to clear and eventually go into half time with a 1-0 lead.

Sadly, this didn't last too much longer, as Callaghan found the bottom right corner when the ball fell to him after Walker's shot was blocked by Hardie. We were back in front just after the hour mark when Leask evaded the challenge of Brown before curling his shot into the bottom right corner to make it 2-1. McIntosh had another great chance to score in the 77th minute when he was played in by Hamilton, but Muir rushed out to block the shot. We almost made it 3-1 in the 82nd minute when Cunningham knocked the ball round Farningham, but he knocked it a little too far and couldn't stop the ball before it went over the byline.

We took another injury in the 88th minute, as Leask was forced off, after we had made all 3 subs.

We didn't really deserve it, and the penalty was controversial, but we've finally gotten our win after 13 games of trying! Hopefully we can push on now. Leask was named in the team of the week.

Unfortunately, Leask broke his nose in the match, meaning he will miss 2-3 weeks of action.

We had a couple of inclusions in the monthly awards, too.

Such a tough start to the season - and yet you're only one point behind Clyde. Anything can happen still!

NOVEMBER 2019

I received a phonecall from James Stables in the leadup to our cup game against Buckie Thistle...

"Good morning Craig. I just wanted to get in touch to let you know that we're still fully behind you, we know that you're not in a great position in regards to squad morale and unity, but we don't believe that's all your fault. The results have been tough to take, but try and build on that win in the last game if you can. You've proven in the past that you can do it."

"Thank you James, i really appreciate you taking the time to call and tell me that, things have been tough for all of us recently but i'm confident if we band together we can dig ourselves out of this mess."

Three changes from the Montrose win, as McLean, Davison and Watson come in for Biggart, Cunningham and the injured Leask. We really should be advancing here, but we can't take anything for granted.

We were nearly ahead in the 5th minute, but McLean hit the post after being slipped in by Davison. In typical Queen's Park fashion, we suffered an injury in the 85th minute after we had used all of our subs, when Aidan Smith went off.

A rather lackluster performance in a game which we really should have won, better luck in the replay, hopefully. If we did win the replay, we would be facing...

Sigh.

I was also linked with the Luton and Forest Green jobs in midweek.

Six changes from the cup game, with Greig, Wylie, Cunningham, Coll, Little and Marr coming in for Horribine, McLean, Davison, Watson, Scott and Esslemont. This game also marks William Muir's 200th appearance for the club. This game is huge. We win and we're off the bottom of the league and we'll swap places with our rivals, but if we lose, we'll be 2 games adrift of Clyde, not a pleasant position to be in.

We fell behind in the 42nd minute, when McShane latched on to a long ball over the top, he attempted to fire the ball across goal but scuffed his shot, but Muir misjudged the flight of the ball and ended up parrying it into his own net. We should have been 2 down almost immediately as Sweeney found McShane with another long ball, but he somehow fired wide of the post after he had rounded Muir. We found an equaliser late on in the game, when Greig slipped the ball to Cunningham, who found the top right corner from just inside the area.

We were a bit lucky to get a draw from that one, but either way, it's better than a loss i suppose.

Another six changes from the Clyde game, as Horribine, Collins, Davison, Biggart, Scott and Esslemont come in for Greig, Wylie, Cunningham, Coll, Little and Marr. Hopefully we can do what we need to do here.

We really showed no signs of doing that, however, and fell behind in the 40th minute when Copeland slid the ball past Muir after receiving a pass from Allan. We were back on level terms moments later however, when Collins nodded in the rebound from close range after Welsh hit the bar with a free kick. We went in front on the other side of half time, as Horribine found Scott at the far post with a free kick, allowing him to tap in. It didn't last long however, and it was 2-2 when Copeland volleyed home a Goodall cross from close in.

We regained our lead in the 62nd minute, as Hardie flicked another Horribine cross into the far corner.

Well, it was harder than it probably should have been, but we made it in the end.

Five changes from the cup match, as Greig, Leask, Cunningham, Watson and Mitchell replace Horribine, Collins, Davison, Biggart and Esslemont.

We almost scored in the 15th minute when Cunningham received a through ball from Welsh, but his snap shot went wide of the post. Just a minute later though and we did find the net, as Leask nodded in an early Watson cross. We doubled our lead in the 76th minute, Welsh's initial shot was saved after he was played in by Freedman, but Leask composed himself and slotted in the rebound.

An excellent performance from the lads, and a comfortable win in the end. Muir, Watson, Mitchell, Welsh and Leask were named in the team of the week.

RAITH V QUEEN'S PARK (League One)

View attachment 221681

Three changes from the win over Elgin, as Horribine, Davison and Esslemont replace Greig, Cunningham and Mitchell. This will be an exceptionally tough game against Raith, who are currently level with league leaders Berwick.

Raith nearly scored in the 11th minute, but Muir denied Ferris after McGuigan had nodded the ball forward and set him through on goal. Just 2 minutes later and Raith had another opportunity when Naismith found McGuigan, but Muir again was on hand to deny him. Mere moments before half time, we had an opportunity of our own as Leask picked up a cross from Davison on the edge of the area before drilling a shot which struck the foot of the right hand post. McGuigan should have had a goal in the 57th minute, but he struck his volley right at Muir, the rebound fell to the edge of the box to Ferris, but Muir scrambled to save his shot. He was really saving us today.

And, against the run of play, we took the lead in the 61st minute, as Barbour got a free kick from 20 yards up and over the wall, beating Boyd to score his first goal for the club.

A superb performance against a good Raith side. We're on good form right now. Muir, Esslemont and Barbour were in the team of the week. Being off the bottom is a massive relief.

I received a job offer from Drogheda, i'm certainly not going anywhere right now.

BERWICK V QUEEN'S PARK (League One)

View attachment 221670

Four changes from the win over Raith, as Greig, Cunningham, Biggart and Marr replace Horribine, Davison, Watson and Esslemont. The tough games keep coming, as we now have to travel to table topping Berwick, hopefully we can nick something.

Berwick had a half chance in the 18th minute when Jacobs skipped past the challenge of Marr, but his effort was tame and went right into the hands of Muir. Berwick made no mistake a moment later however, when Dillon volleyed home a Shankland cross. They swapped roles moments later, when Shankland fired home from 20 yards after receiving a pass from Dillon. Things got even worse for us in the 38th minute, when Shankland took down a Currie corner at the front post and smashed home to make it 3-0. I know Berwick are top, but this is pretty shocking.

We came close to getting a goal just after half time, but Leask's close range effort was blocked by Stallard. Salt was rubbed into the wounds in the 57th minute, when Freedman received a 2nd yellow card for tripping Storie from behind. Then, in the 77th minute, Berwick were awarded a penalty when Biggart pulled back Lavery in the box while we were depleted even further as Scott was receiving treatment. Shankland stepped up, and coolly slotted his penalty home to make it 4-0. We scored a consolation in the 83rd minute as Cunningham's free kick hit the wall, the ball fell back to Cunningham, allowing him to rifle the ball into the top left corner.

An exceptionally disappointing result which sends us back down to the foot of the table.

QUEEN'S PARK V RANGERS (Scottish Cup 4th Round)

View attachment 221664

Three changes from the Berwick game, as Horribine, Watson and Esslemont replace Cunningham, Biggart and Marr. Our second cup game of the season against Rangers, it's sure to be another fantastic occasion, hopefully we can give them a good test again.

We took a sensational lead in the 12th minute when Greig headed in a corner at the near post despite Bell getting a big hand on the ball. Rangers nearly equalised straight from kick off, but Muir pulled off a remarkable save to deny a close range Muirhead volley.

We thought we had taken a 2-0 lead in the 81st minute when substitute Connor Murray volleyed home a free kick, but the celebrations were cut short as the linesman flagged for offside. Ultimately it didn't matter though, as we held on for a famous victory.

View attachment 221663View attachment 221662View attachment 221661

An incredible result for a team of our stature, to knock out Rangers is a huge accomplishment for us, and i'm sure the fans will remember this game for quite a long time. We took in £170k in gate receipts for the match, as we drew a remarkable crowd of 7,321, what a spectacle it was.

More mentions in a couple of awards this month, too.

Bad news guys... I went to load my game up this afternoon and got this message.

View attachment 221574

I have no idea how this happened, i always make sure my game is saved before turning the PC off or anything like that, but it appears i must have had a lapse in concentration or something. To make matters worse, my last working save is from the end of last season.

Unsure what to do now. :(

Nooooo!!! :( I'd love for you to continue it, but I know if it was me I'd lose all motivation :/
