Its my first Story of FM 2010 now that I have got the grips of things by working through with Rangers for 4 seasons.

I'm going to be taking Birmingham from relegation definites to possible continental contention within 3 seasons by filling the squad with younger talent than we currently have. The squad seems to be the second oldest team in the league with the likes of Barry "The Crab" Ferguson and Lee "Baldy" Bowyer but they will prove to be vital in my first season by bossing my five man midfielder.

Tactics -

I will be using JP Guadiola's 4-5-1 Tactic which I think could be fantastic especially with the ability of James Mcfadden.

Signings -

I need to strengthen my right back position preferably I would like to bring in Steven Whittaker who becomes a top player within 3 seasons with the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal trying to sign him in previous games. So I'll be going for possibly one of two right backs at Ajax George Ogararu or Gregory Van der Wiel.

Another position would be attacking right and Steven Naismith would be a good player to strengthen that position.

I'll post pre match and some screenshots of whats happened soonish.

i'll be following mate, birmingham is definitely a tough team to play but im sure you'll do well, though im not convinced of macfadden's quality

good luck but dont rely on mc fadden or jump dwn his throat if ur nt winning also check mexico they have some gems older players with class

Birmingham players will be asking who tonight when Birmingham spend 2/3 of there transfer budget on a unknown scotsman named Steven Naismith leaving a small bit of the budget for a right back position. Steven Naismith has joined the club for a staggering 4 Million pound. Also Phillipp Degen from Liverpool has joined as replacement for a right back position.

On a staff note Andy Cooper Birminghams Assistant Manager has agreed to a mutual agreement to leave the club in order for Colin Cooper from Middlesbrough to be become Assistant Manager who has all the necessary qualities to be a great Assistant.

zaki's much better and cost only half of what you paid for naismith. how did you manage to give colin cooper 4.5k cos in my previous game, the maximum i was able to offer was barely to 2k, despite adjusting the wage buget?

Not sure I never adjusted the wage budget and I was allowed to offer him it up front so not too sure about that. I thought about Zaki but Naismith is younger and emotional ties with him. I finished preseason placing my Assistant in control and bit of mixed results not really taking anything from them.

First game up is Manchester City away and I've yet to look at there signings but zonal marking for me. I'll be hoping for a drew but don't expect much to be deadly honest. Maik Taylor starts in goals due to Joe Hart being Inegliable due to the loan and also losing alot of players due to injuries including Naismith whos out for 2 weeks. I also have to play Gary Mcsheffrey in CM as all my centre mids are out injured.

Now I'm pretty pleased with what we showed against Man City although we lost and points matter it shows much determination from a team riddle with defences who couldn't field a first 11 nevermind a bench with all but 2 players in the bench where injured. We both had a good chances and Man City has spent £46 Million so far.

We have two more injuries my only fit Striker Kevin Phillips and Maik Taylor however I do have 4 players resuming training including two defenders Espinosa and Scott Dan aswell as Christian Benitez and my Midfield Maesto Barry Ferguson.

Dissappointing against our relegation rivals and at home but they deserved it more majority of our players were still out so I went with the same line up except replaced the injured Kevin Phillips with Gary Mcsheffrey who was dreadful. I replaced Gary in central midfield with Sebastian Larsson and Joe Hart in goals. I played more agressive and attacking but I think I'm going to treat all games as away from now on to try and ****** some wins. I kept same back four but next game could be hopeful with my players who are back from injured are back to full fitness and ready to play.

Yes! My first one and its came against West Ham away although very lucky a fantastic defensive job secured our victory. James O'Shea my temporary attacking right midfielder showed his age with some poor decision making compared to other games.

Good luck and nice idea you got there i hpe for the best

unlucky against wolves. i also have problems against them as well. they always played like dogs but were still able to scrape 1-0 wins or draws against me. anyway, gives james o shea time. he will develop into a very good epl player if given regular 1st team football :)

i just played Leicester City in English League Cup Round 2 forgot to take a screenshot but we won 2-0 a penalty and Christian Benitez scored in open play. I rested the likes of James O'Shea Barry Ferguson Espionsa in order to keep them ready for our game at home against Portsmouth.

I've been building up a list of transfer for next season if I meet my expectations of avoiding relegations. Possibly trying to sign Alan Hutton however Sunderland might have signed him so Steven Whittaker will be a possible replacement. Kevin Thomson to replace Lee Bowyer. Fabian Delph or possibly Tainio for the DM position. Arda Turan in some seasons to come for AML if hes still at Galatasaray.

I'm back to update five games then off again for abit. So my last game was Portsmouth at home and I decided to play defending as they were the better team and I'm ok with the result but wish I culd of nicked it.

My next game was against Blackburn Rovers at the Ewood Stadium and Sam Alladyce started the trash talking however I decided to stay civil and keep out of the insults and focus on playing.....We got destroyed 3-0 I tried some new players Keith Fahey Marcus Bent and Scott Dann at CB but it didn't really work.

Not bad start mate, but you need to attack at home against teams like Portsmouth. They are the teams that will be down there at the end of the season and you need to win them, nasty one vs Wolves but great result vs West Ham :D

Yea I know what you mean Wigan are coming to St Andrews so I'm going on the offensive to try and put 3 or 4 past them.

I agree with Max. When you are playing lower teams like yourselves, you need to go attacking. Especially at home.

St Andrews hosts a fantastic win as the attacking Birmingham ran out 2-1 winners coming back from 1-0 down after Liam Ridgewell on his first game of the season gave a way a penalty. Christian Benitez and Teemu Tainio pulled it back and got another three points on the board and our first win of the season.
