U21 Squad for European Championships

Some interesting things from twitter:

Re poss Wilshere burnout: Ozil played 47 games for Bremen in 08-09, then won Euro U21s, then 44 games in 09-10, then starred in World Cup. He's also played 53 games this season for Madrid.

I was with Jack Wilshere yesterday when he was informed not in #eng U21s. Jack genuinely disappointed tho understood #afc burnout fears

does not matter, we can win this tourney without Wilshere, we have enough quality

England Under-21 manager Stuart Pearce has confirmed that Manchester City defender Micah Richards has withdrawn from the England squad ahead of the UEFA European Under-21 Championship in Denmark.

Richards, 22, has 14 Under-21 caps, including the 2009 European Championship final defeat to Germany, but will not add to his tally over the summer after suffering a hamstring injury that will see him sidelined for some time.

It will be seen as a further disruption to Pearce's squad after he left Andy Carroll and Jack Wilshere out of his 23-man party - although he will confirm a replacement for Richards to complete the squad before the June 1 deadline.

Grrr. Oh well, 'least we have Walker to step in, though I understand Richards is used as a centre-back for England U-21s.

Why are Mancienn, Muamba, Richards named in the squad. They are over 21 years rite.. Or is it like Olympics where they can name few over 21 years old players..?

As long as they are Under-21 when qualifying starts (2 years prior to the tournament) they are eligible to play throughout.

Looking forward to watching Sturridge in the tournement and hopefully the young lions can go all the way and win it :)

the under 21's beat norway 2-0. goals from sturridge and danny rose.

Walker for player of the tournament, heard it here first.

IMO he's best English right-back.

**** Magath won't let Kjær go and Bendtner wants to be with his son. We'll still have a pretty strong squad, but we will miss our defense general and best striker.

Yep, needs to work on defending but he is definately the future + I hate Glen Johnson, I've seen Walker play in the flesh and he is some talent.

Still surprised that Hooper didnt get called up. Scored more goals last season thatn all those strikers and scored more this season also.
All the better for Celtic though :)

if bendtner is your best striker the other ones must be shocking :P

On his day Bendtner is better than all the English strikers bar Sturridge.

Erm, no. We don't know about others, because they're hardly given a sniff half the time. And thats a bit harsh on players like Nathan Delfouneso who are showing potential

Bendtner has only gotten 17 starts this season, he is a good player but just needs a run of games to get going. Not as good as he thinks he is though.
Delfouneso played 11 for Burnley and only got 1 goal.
