Unable to view attachments in threads

For some reason I can no longer view attachments, when I click on one the area over the post goes dark (like a shadow) and no image pops up. I looked in settings and I have the view attachments box checked. I use Google Chrome but the same thing happens with IE. Just wondering if I need to update a utility or something?

I dunno, but a quick solution though that I found is just right click and then view in new tab or new window. That works fine.
