He also failed with Holland. He did well in the groups but meekly succumbed to Russia in the second round. He will fail at Sporting, who have an even less capable team than either Ajax or Holland did back then.
First: With holland, he won 3-0 against Italy and 4-1 against France in EURO 2008, and lost to Hiddink's Russia, which would have won, except Spain was there.
Second: 2006 world cup, he beat Serbia, Ivory Coast and drew 0-0 with Argentina. Played Portugal in the round of 16, and lost in that game known as the "Battle of Nuremberg", and Holland may have been robbed. ;)

At Ajax, is what i told. Until the board sold Hunterlaar, he was 1st with a 3 point lead.

Also, the club will have around 60 million euros next season for transfers :) so we might get some shineys.

Erm... Hes going to be if someone becomes president.. what if other candidate wins them? LOL! Maybe one of the best players of all time. But a failure of a manager. Going to ruin SCP even more... Wich is easy at the moment ;). You wont win anything with him or without him.

edit: and yes its true there are already pics of him with SCP scarff and in the stadium

TBH no club in Portugal(Benfica, Sporting, Porto) are near world-class. Three top sides, but are miles behind Man U, Barca, Inter, Bayern and co.

When you produce talents such as Ronaldo, Nani, Anderson you are some good, but it's similar to the Brazilian leagues which are pants but they produce great players, still Sporting are a decent club just on the edge of World Class IMO

Not a good track record yet, but surely it is unfair to write his chances off before he has even managed a game.

Its "Scarf", not "Scarff"
And he won't ruin Sporting. And Carvalho WILL win the elections. 2 television debates this week, and he's by far the best prepared candidate. And has the most € behind him.

You failed to mention, conveniently, Holland's unconvincing game vs Romania in the group, plus Russia's side would have been beaten by Germany in the final.

2006 WC: Holland beat a mediocre Serbia and Montenegro, dodgy debutant Ivory Coast and drew 0-0 with an out-of-sorts Argentina. They were disgusting in the game vs Portugal.

A three point lead isn't much, and could've been turned around anyway. He inherited a brilliant squad and still failed, Huntelaar or no Huntelaar.

To become a world class club, you need to be competing for the CL in the latter stages constantly, like Barca and Inter. I know the next post will say that Benfica, Porto and Braga are still in the Europa League, but the Europa League is like Europe's Carling Cup(ie in terms of prestige, not quality of teams competing)

Rofl... You know Porto or Benfica will win the Portuguese league next year... no one gives a **** about sporting nowadays... If you guys couldn't win anything with Paulo Bento, how can you win now? LOL! Seriously, dont get all excited cause you're not going to be better then this season. you will finish 3rd place. mark my words ;)

Keep thinking that ;)

Hum, honestly I agree with Blyndreaper, Paulo Bento is excellent and even he could't win it with Sporting, the Portuguese league has become a bit of a 2 horsed race between Porto and Benfica for the last 2 seasons.

I bet the first signing with those 50 million will be Liedson. XD

Yes I agree, they have gona downhill recently, but I think it's just been an off campaign for them, very much like Arsenal, I bet Sporting's manager is considered World Class on FM btw ;)

Ahahahahahaha, that would be the best thing to do... People don't understand that Sporting isn't the 3rd big team anymore.. in Portugal there are 2 big teams at the moment... Porto and Benfica... Maybe Braga, since they can do better then Sporting in Europa League... Still, i really want to see what will happen to SCP next year.

2 crappy seasons dont change the fact that Sporting is the 2nd/3rd team in Portugal for the past 10 years. And with Russian €, things will change.

The Moutinho sell was absolutely disastrous, amateurish really.

And Veloso, years and years of Barcelonas and Arsenals and Madrids wanting him for 20 and 30 million and he ended up going to Genoa for 7 million plus Zapater. XD

Russians do not use euro, they use the Ruble. That kind of money injection is highly suspicious. Maybe they're using Sporting for some sort of scam. I don't rule out anything...

I also read that Chelsea thought of Van Basten to replace Ancelotti, but Chelsea imrpoved a bit, so no need.
I have faith in Van Basten.

2nd/3rd? If you are anything, youre THIRD. At the moment BRAGA doesnt make portuguese football look like ****... You guys got beat by Bayern 12-1.... Hmm...

Its called money laundering. Its what all the major banks in the world do. Its what Abramovich does at Chelsea. Its what José Eduardo dos Santos does at Benfica. And i have absolutely no problem with this, no more mr nice guy.
