I'm going to keep the opening post of this thread relatively short and sweet:

Today we saw Aston Villa gain a new owner in Tony Xia, a Chinese businessman who plans to undo all of Randy Lerner's wrongs. However, what if Dr. Xia never had a deal brokered for him and wasn't interested in buying the club - what if Randy Lerner didn't sell the club at all?!

No transfer budget, a set of demotivated and overpaid players, all while having the "unachievable" task of trying to regain Premier League status.

Eric Black has parted ways with the club and a new manager is set to take charge imminently, as the club are confirmed as finishing 20th in the Premier League and in turn being relegated to the Championship.

Will Villa become another forgotten giant? Or will the club rise again, with a new man at the helm?

Gianluca Vialli is set to put an end to his long-term managerial hiatus by taking over as manager of Aston Villa, after Sky Sports sources told us he was the club's "top target". The newly relegated side finished 20th in the 2015/16 campaign after having what was arguably their worst ever season in the Premier League era.

Vialli's arrival also sees the departures of first team coach Eric Black and head of scouting Paddy Reilly, with the Italian likely to appoint a new group of backroom staff as he prepares for the season ahead.

VIALLI'S NEW LOOK VILLA STAFF GET TO WORK

View attachment 144466
Gianluca Vialli has moved swiftly to bring Paul Clement in as his assistant manager after taking the managerial hot seat at the newly relegated club last week.

With Vialli keen to make big changes, ex-Chelsea player Joe McLaughlin will take charge of a new look scouting network as the Villans begin to scour the continent for low-cost talent. It is thought that Micah Richards and Joleon Lescott are both set to leave in the coming weeks, and with Jores Okore also set for showdown talks in the near future, Villa may be short in defensive clout as pre-season looms.

Jordan Amavi has also attracted interest from his native France, with the left-back unhappy at the prospect of playing the English second tier.

MASS EXODUS BEGINS AS WESTWOOD GOES NORTH

View attachment 144463

Ashley Westwood has joined Hull City for a fee believed to be around £3.5m. The 26-year-old midfielder no longer saw a future in the West Midlands and has reinstated himself as a Premier League player. AND Westwood is the first of many set to leave the West Midlands club, with Joe Bennett and Joleon Lescott both in talks with a host of potential suitors.

In better news for the Villans, defender Jores Okore has penned a new four-year-deal as Gianluca Vialli continues his claret & blue overhaul, with the Dane expected to be named as captain for the upcoming season. It is believed that Vialli sees Okore as a key player for the future, and has offered the Danish international the captain's armband as an incentive to stay for the long-term.

ASTON VILLA SIGN PREMIER LEAGUE PAIRING
View attachment 143622
Gianluca Vialli has opted to bring in extra firepower at Aston Villa, and has done so by moving for Sheffield Wednesday forward Gary Hooper in a £3m deal that was completed earlier today.

Hooper has joined the Villans on 3-year-deal and had only joined Wednesday in January, however Vialli sees the striker as well-rounded rotation option as he looks to bolster his paperweight squad following a mass exodus of players in the last few months.

Hooper joins alongside former Everton midfielder Darron Gibson, who signed a two-year-deal on a free transfer late last night, following his departure from the Toffees. Speaking to Birmingham Mail earlier today, Vialli said it was experience that led him to signing the two players.

"I am happy to bring in Gary and Darron, I think they're two players with a lot of experience and they both love to push themselves for the team. I personally love to blood young, talented lads but the Championship is a tough league and we'll need some strong characters should we wish to get ourselves back up again."

Former Manchester City midfielder Abdul Razak is believed to be in advanced talks with Villa as they continue their rebuilding process following relegation from the Premier League.

30,000 TURNOUT FOR VILLA'S CHAMPIONSHIP DEBUT

Jordan Ayew led the line for Aston Villa in their Championship debut against Rotherham today, where the home team put in a classy performance and picked up all 3 points.

A dominant performance from the Villans with 63% possession; Jordan Ayew, Leandro Bacuna and Gary Gardner all put their names on the scoresheet as the home team won 3-1.

Villa fans will also be happy with the news of two new signings being announced briefly after the game, with Abdul Razak and Fabio Da Silva both passing their medicals with flying colours.

Abdul Razak joins on a free transfer, while Fabio Da Silva is believed to have cost just £1m following a fallout with the staff at Cardiff City. Both players will be fit and ready to play in Villa's next league game against Middlesbrough.
