Canaries take flight as Black Cats left grounded!

View attachment 250704

Norwich City took full advantage of a poor defensive display by top-half hopefuls, Sunderland. James Vaughan and Elliott Bennett ran the old-looking defence ragged with two great individual displays. Caulker started on the bench as Ryan Bennett was chosen before him to man mark the pacey danger of Asamoah Gyan. Caulker entered the fray at half-time for Wilson and immediately took action - hitting a bullet header into the roof of the net from a corner. Diouf also impressed against his former team - scoring at Westwood's near post to make it 3-0 after Vaughan and Elliott Bennett had given the Canaries a comfortable lead.

Before the game, the Canaries announced three new signings. Yaya Sanogo joined for a fee of £2.5m after Ivorian Wilfried had rejected an offer from the club to sign on at Bordeaux. Lodeiro and Danny Murphy both accepted two-year deals at the club and look forward to playing in front of the Carrow Road faithful. Midfielder David Fox signed for London club Q.P.R for a fee of around £2m. Norwich now travel to West Bromwich Albion on the 20th.

The Canaries were also drawn against Championship side Bristol City in the 2nd round of the Capital One Cup.

Norwich draw at Hawthorns!

View attachment 250717

James Vaughan inspired the Canaries from two goals down to earn a respectable draw away at West Bromwich Albion. Shane Long and Chris Brunt gave Albion an early lead and were dominant up until half-time. In the second period, though, Vaughan put on a scintillating display as lone striker and showed his team how it's done - scoring two goals before Tamas was sent off late on for West Brom. After two games, Norwich City currently sit third in the Premier League and face Championship side Bristol City on the 23rd in the Capital One Cup.

In the week preceding the fixture at the Hawthorns, the Canaries remained active in the transfer window. Laurentiu Branescu joined from Italian giants Juventus for £2.2m while former Chelsea, Athletic Bilbao and Valencia left-back Asier Del Horno signed on a one-year contract. Following the two deals, Branescu was then immediately loaned out to League One club Portsmouth while fellow goalkeeper Jed Steer will also be playing in League One this year as he was loaned to Brentford. The Canaries also had an offer of just under £2m accepted by Lanus for midfielder Guido Pizzaro and with personal terms already being agreed - the transfer now relies on a British Work Permit being issued.

Norwich youngsters batter Bristol!

View attachment 250735

Norwich City made it through to the 3rd round of the Capital One Cup in an thrilling game at Carrow Road against Championship side Bristol City. Playing just three days after the draw at Albion, Mann's decided to play a team of outsiders and youngsters. Hoolahan and Howson gave the Canaries a comfortable lead before new-boy Yaya Sanogo entered the fray and finished City off.

Just hours before kick-off, it was confirmed that Championship side Burnley had signed Simon Lappin from the club on a one-year loan deal. Burnley paid £750k for the deal and Lappin can't wait to play first team football again. Lanus midfielder Guido Pizzaro's proposed move to Carrow Road had to be cancelled as he failed to gain a Work Permit. Since, the Norfolk side have been in negotiations with Canadian, Julian De Guzman. A £1m fee was agreed with Toronto FC and contract talks are ongoing.

Norwich have been drawn against Paul Lambert's new side, Aston Villa. The tie will be played at Carrow Road on the 20th of September and will be Lambert's first return to Norfolk since leaving for Villa in the summer.

Canaries falter at home to excellent Fulham!

View attachment 250813

Carrow Road was left in stunned silence following the arrival of the Cottagers. Fulham started with a very attacking side and raced into a three goal lead. Late goals by Yaya Sanogo and Elliott Bennett gave Norwich some hope - but they never threatened for an equaliser before time was up. Mann will be hoping for an improved performance in the next fixture - an away trip to Southampton on the 10th of September.

Toronto FC midfielder Julian De Guzman will continue to play his football with the Canadian side next year - after Mann deemed his contract demands as "excessive" and "extreme". It was thought De Guzman wanted nearer £40k whilst Mann was only prepared to offer around £20k. With only four days left of the transfer market - who will the Canaries swoop for next?

The Canaries strengthen further!

View attachment 250835View attachment 250836

Norwich City have announced the signing of two players. Exciting young winger Lorenzo Ebicilio joined on a season-long loan from Dutch giants Ajax. He started 16 times for the Ajax first-team last year and even gained experience in the UEFA Champions League. Mann hopes Ebicilio can come off the bench late on and threaten tiring defences with his lightning pace and trickery. Delvin Ndinga joined the club for a reported £3.5m deal from French side AJ Auxerre. Ndinga is an experienced yet young defensive midfielder having already played in the UEFA Champions League. Ndinga will be expected to fit straight into the Canaries' first-team ahead of the Southampton game in ten days time.

Meanwhile, former Villa defender Carlos Cuellar has been offered a one-year deal at Carrow Road. Early reports suggest he's eager to sign on and may well start against the Saints. The club are also reportedly watching former Villa striker John Carew. While James Vaughan and Simeon Jackson offer a pacey threat up front, Mann feels maybe the club need a 'Plan B' - having a tall striker up top who can knock balls down for the two pacey wingers is an interesting prospect for Mann.

In other news, the Canaries signed an indefinite deal with League Two club Southend United. Part of the deal allows the Norfolk side to send players on loan to the Shrimpers to gain vital experience.

Canaries leave St. Mary's disappointed!

View attachment 250851
The day started with some positive news for Norwich City. Carlos Cuellar's deal was signed just in time to start against the Saints whilst John Carew was offered a permanent deal at the club. Carlos started alongside Ryan Bennett at the heart of the Canaries' defence. Norwich took an early lead and looked comfortable throughout - only to be thwarted on numerous occasions by the Saints' keeper. Late on, though, Southampton equalised through a tap-in. Mann described it as a "fantastic performance" but said his team need to begin "killing games off".

Norwich batter 'hard men' Stoke!

View attachment 250857

Norwich City once again dominated their opposition for the whole 90 minutes. After only earning a point for their efforts last time, though, they managed to gain all three at Carrow Road. Mann was aware of the physicality of today's opponents and played a team of smaller, more skilful players. Many expected him to give a start to new-boy John Carew who could compete with Robert Huth - however, he decided Vaughan was a suitable choice and was quickly repayed after a fantastic finish. Surman scored a tap-in late on to give the Canaries a comfortable win.

Next up, the Canaries host Aston Villa - the team managed by former Norwich boss Paul Lambert in the 3rd round of the Capital One Cup. Meanwhile, Michael Owen has been given a month-long trial with the Norfolk side in order to prove himself to the wise-manager Jason Mann.

Great story mate, great to see how diverse your writing skills are. It's certainly different from your other stories, which are more personal and first person, but I like it! Keep up the good results; they aren't bad! It seems you're a bit dodgy away from home, though!

Thanks for the comment. It's nice to know people are reading :) Yeah, we've been bad in front of goal away from home for some reason - not sure why. We're still playing as well as we are at home and creating chances - just not taking them. It's something I'm working on and hopefully we can do better away next time out. I'd be happy to finish around where Norwich did this year. It might not be progress, but I think Paul Lambert did a fantastic job and to replicate that here would be a good start for me. If I could gain a few places over him, I'd be happy. When I get a little more into the season, I'll start uploading the table so people are certain of where I am but for now I think it's pointless as a win could put me about 4-5 places and loss could lose me about 6 places as it's early on. Again, thanks for the comment - appreciated mate.

Villa out as Canaries scrape through!

View attachment 253034

Paul Lambert's return to Carrow Road was rather disappointing for him and his new side. Favourites Villa turned up on the back of a 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford expecting a victory. Lambert's successor Jason Mann set his team up positively and it paid off. Great football was on show from both sides as the two managers - with similar philosophies - played attacking football. Hoolahan scored a stunning individual goal to ensure the Canaries made it through to the fourth round of the Capital One Cup.

This week Jason Mann offered Scottish goalkeeper Craig Gordon and former Manchester United and City midfielder Owen Hargreaves one month trials. Both are reportedly keen to join the Canaries' new look side under Mann.

In other news, Norwich City have been drawn away at the Sports Direct Arena in the fourth round of the Capital One Cup. Mann's side will play Newcastle United on the 26th of October.

Red Devils steal all three!

View attachment 254185

Manchester United were lucky to nick all three points after a valiant effort from the Canaries. Cleverley scored late on to gave United all three as new-boys Ndinga and Bressan had looked to give Norwich at least a point.

Despite United dominating early proceedings and taking a two goal lead, the Canaries looked the better team for much of the match and will be disappointed to leave Old Trafford with nothing. A great performance was rounded off by a great strike by Bressan. Next up, Mann's side face Tottenham Hotspur at Carrow Road.

Spurs leave Carrow Road empty handed!

The Norwich faithful were pleasantly surprised as their boys came out today and gave an absolutely stunning performance. Kleber scored two great goals early to give Spurs a comfortable lead and Norwich looked out of it before even reaching the ten minute mark. However, Jason Mann sent his team out after half-time with spirit instilled in them. A fantastic second-half display gave them all three points against a strong Tottenham side. Ex Spurs striker Louis Saha was offered a deal at Norwich before the game kicked off and the Canaries are still waiting upon a response for the experienced goalscorer.
