Boca Juniors

After losing the Copa Libertadores final last season we managed to keep hold of most of our best players and added one or two so we could go one further.

We won the First Stage league title and the Copa Sudamericana in the first half of the season meaning qualification for the 2025 Copa Lib.

Despite only finishing 2nd in the Final Stage league we beat River and claimed the overall league title (****** South America and their split leagues!)

We qualified easily from the Group Stage to set up a fierce battle with rivals River and all did not go well...

We rode our luck a wee bit here in a game that could have gone either way in truth. If we fail again in the Final I may look at taking over a Brazilian team as they are much better than those in Argentina.

CHAMPIONS!!

Without doubt the red card was a pivotal moment and swung the tie in our favour. A first Copa Lib win for Boca since 2007 and the 4th continental trophy for myself.

Off to Europe now to complete the Pentagon Challenge!

Don't expect to win the Champions League with Bilbao (sitting 10th when I take over) due to the limited transfers so I'll use them as a stepping stone to a bigger European club.

Bilbao

Bilbao sat 10th when I took my first job in Europe and had a huge injury list. Limited to Basque only players as well meant little transfer target were available or affordable to dig us out of this hole. We made a few signings but had to wait for eveyone to return to fitness.

THE FORM TEAM!

After a slow start to my reign we finally got some players back and put together a super run of results.

Including a great performance against runaway league leaders Real Madrid.

View attachment 461694

Consequently we shot up the league table and managed to sneak 4th spot on the final day and thusly a place in the Champions League next season.

I'm undecided whether to say with Bilbao next season or not. I'll see what jobs appear over the summer.

As we prepared for the new season with a massive transfer budget of ?1m (!) I was linked with several jobs, including Chelsea and Tottenham. None really tempted me. Spurs weren't in the Champions League and Chelsea had an old squad with a massive ?3,300,000 per week wage bill.

I set myself out for another season at Bilbao when the news appeared that Barcelona manager Tata Martino had retired! An opportunity too good to miss. I immediately applied.

That application didn't go down well.

The Bilbao board demanded an apology or I was to be sacked.

Screw you guys! I quit.

Now unemployed and with the Spurs and Chelsea jobs now occupied I gambled everything on the Barca board wanting me...

THANKFULLY THEY DID..

Ironically it was Barcelona that my Bilbao team pipped to the final Champions League spot last season, so the Europa League awaits. At least it will give me time to rebuild the side.

cant wait for the next update now! Tell me mate, does playing on Classic mode not limit the number of players in the game and make it harder to find good signing?

It did on FM13 but on 14 you can add more leagues now and alter the database size

Barcelona

Despite the team finishing 5th last season I inherited a good squad with only one or two top players needed so I had big hopes for the season. And so it proved..

A clean sweep of trophies as I returned Barca to the top of Spanish football and back into the Champions League. Will add a few good squad players next season to cope with injuries and I see no reason why I can't win the CL next season and seal the Pentagon Challenge.

Given a transfer budget of 250,000! Maybe I won't be strengthening the squad after all

On course for another league title and through to the Copa del Rey Final too.

More importantly, into the knockout stages of the Champions League where Liverpool await.

Looks a comfortable win but it didn't start off that way!

Pre-game my scout report showed that United play well against a 4141 which is what I use. What does the scout know I said? So I stuck with the 4141.

After 30mins we were getting battered by United! So I gambled and considering the scouts report, I moved my DM into a CM role making a 451 and we took control of the tie and clinched a memorable Champions League title and quadruple.

I'll be paying attention to the scouts report from now on!

Completed the Pentagon Challenge in two less years than on FM13. Besides Africa at the start I was taking about two years to win each CL, not bad. Maybe I'll return to the Pentagon Challenge in the future and make it even harder by having to take over a bottom division team in each continent and lead them all the way to CL glory..

What challenge to do next??

Emulate Fergie? The Hero Challenges?
