I expected a good season after a very good summer transfer window where we got rid of some poor players on higher wages and replaced with young stars and a couple of key loan signings.

However we exceeded even my biggest expectations as we won the Skrill North with great ease, By March we had only lost one game all season but the typical injury crisis saw us pick up a few defeats as complacency set in.

After years of financial restrictions the board finally loosened up the purse strings and gave me a decent wage budget, allowing me to get a couple of great loan signings and a few free transfer signings including a couple of fellow South Africans with EU citizenship who wouldn't be out of place in a mid-Premier League team.

Anyway, after a slow start as the new signings took time to gel, we went on a blistering run and as teams above us crumbled we sealed promotion to the big time at the first time of asking!

Loan signings are absolutely vital. I sort out loans on 1 & 2 July first (on these dates the club doesn't seem to ask for a fee, just 50% of wages).

Once the loans are signed then I look to free transfers especially at younger players who have been released by the Man Utds, Man Citys, Arsenals etc.

Another tip is to give them maximum appearance and goal bonuses whilst reducing their basic wage.

For example, a kid looking ?2000 a week will usually accept something like ?1000 a week with ?1000 appearance money. This keeps the wage bill lower and therefore allows you to sign more players

We made it to the Premier League. Survival was the ultimate aim. And after 6 defeats in a row from Sept-Oct I feared the worst. But we rallied and went on a great run and even managed to sneak into the Europa League on the final day of the season.

With our stadium still only holding just over 6,000 people this was a great accomplishment but to really compete we need to expand the ground and increase revenues from somewhere (ideally not by selling some of our better players)

There is already a 13,718 Altrincham Stadium being built for 2057 which by 2057 won't be big enough for us!! lol

On FM13 there was a 20 year rule between new stadiums being built so if that still exists it won't be until 2077 before a new one is built. :'(

No Chance!!

An amazing 3rd place finish and two excellent cup runs show we are fast emerging as a real force in England. Capital One Cup defeat to Chelsea was hard to take as it was our first ever appearance in a major domestic cup final and we were outclassed on our second trip to Wembley in the FA Cup semi-final.

Anyway... Champions League here we come!!

Haven't been on here in a while so a quick update of the seasons I've done since.

After a 3rd place finish last season we had Champions League football to look forward too and we took it by storm, going all the way to the Semi Finals in our first ever season in it, losing to Chelsea on away goals!

Domestically we improved once more finishing runners-up which was fantastic considering our rather limited finances compared to others. Our small stadium (13,700 capacity) will always limit our ability in the transfer market.

CUP GLORY!! We finally nabbed a domestic cup in the form of the Capital One Cup with a tight win over Chelsea.

An incredible acheivement made possible mostly by the poorness of the other title challengers. 79 points and 5 points separating the top 6 so how tight (and lucky) we were. Any other season and 79 points would have struggled to get 3rd place! Who cares!?! From Skrill North to Premier League Champions in 10 years!

CHAMPIONS AGAIN!!

With 88 points this one looks more convincing but we were playing catch-up the whole season and faced a horrible end of season fixture list were we faced Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal in our final 4 games. We won the lot! and clinched the title by 3 points.

Stadium was expanded a couple of times over those seasons and now stands at 27,436 and the option to expand it further hasn't appeared in over a year so it seems we are at full capacitiy

This stadium was built in 2057 so we will have to wait until 2077 at least for another new one to be built.

Do I stay around till then??

Or seek pastures new??
