Wayne Rooney role

I started a new game with Manchester United, I'm winning most of my games but I'm really struggling with playing Rooney, whoever I partner him with gets hat-tricks and ratings of 9 or 10 but Rooney keeps getting 6's and hasn't scored in 20 games. Any ideas for what role I should play him ?

( I've got Berbatov as his usual partner with an Advanced Forward role and Attacking Mentality and Berbatov's got 30 goals in 19 games )

I would play Berba as a Deep Lying Foward and Rooney as a Complete Foward.

I've got Rooney as a complete forward currently, I've tried Berba as a deep-lying forward and I've had Rooney as a deep-lying forward as well.
