I've decided to take on the challenge of trying to get West Ham into Europe and to make them a force to be reckoned with in Europe. Of course we have no transfer budget but i feel that the squad has enough about them to avoid relegation and achieve a respectable league position.

Friendlies:

Wycombe (a) 2-0
U Craiova (h) 5-0
Tranmere (a) 4-1
Falkirk (a) 3-1
Brentford (a) 4-1
Hamilton (a) 5-1

I feel that we've done well in these friendlies, although the number of goals conceded could be somewhat worrying.

I'm also satisfied with my action in the transfer market, bringing in David Beckham, amongst others. The England man should be great if we choose to be a counter-attacking side as he can pick the ball up in midfield and ping balls over the top for our strikers.

The Opening game of the season: Vs Manchester United

We really weren't expecting anything from this game. Knowing that United are notoriously slow starters in the league, i thought we could maybe scrape a draw but never did i expect a 4-0 triumph. John Fleck started behing Diamanti as we had alot of injuries, this proved to be a blessing as our game plan of playing narrow and using Beckham as the root of all our attacks worked a treat and Fleck grabbed a first half hat-trick. Mark Noble also grabbed a goal and proved that he has the potential to become a West Ham legend.

please don't start threads in the morning. no body is ever here

West Ham 2 - 1 Birmingham Smith 28, Beckham 52, Larsson 62
A satisfying result, we played well throughout and we could have won by more. The highlight was a 35 yard free-kick by Beckham.

Bolton 0 - 1 West Ham Cole 71
Another pleasing result, we were nervous about how to play away from home. We set out to hit on the break and after being denied by several good saves, Carlton Cole headed in a Collison cross to wrap up 3 valuable away points

2nd Round Carling Cup
West Ham 4 - 0 Swindon Collison 8, Jiminez 42, 46, Franco 90
We played a second string side and we still dominated, Collison has been impressing both in league and now, in cup. He is now my first choice left midfielder.

Fulham 0 - 3 West Ham Diamanti 1, Cole 10, Noble 80
A fantastic win, early screamer from Italian gave us good start and then Cole added to it with a lovely placed finish. Finally, Noble scores a Scholes-like goal, dashing into the box at the last to finish cooly. We're top of the table!

West Ham 0 - 3 Tottenham Crouch 13, Palacios 73, Jenas 77
Simply outclassed, Crouch will be featuring in Sol Campbell's nightmares for the next 12 months. A reality check, we are still top though.

Sunderland 0 - 1 West Ham Fleck 54
After the Spurs defeat it was important to get either a performance or result, we got the latter. A dull game but Fleck scores important goal to get us back to winning ways.

Carling Cup 3rd Round
West Ham 5 - 0 Stockport Collison 3, Tomkins 33, Cole 36, Stanislas 75, Kovac (p)87
A good win, again a weakened team but Tomkins, Hines and Stanislas proving they can be Prem players.

West Ham 3 - 1 Burnley Cole 1, 17, 32 Upson o.g 36
Fantastic hat-trick by Cole who is a form striker at the moment. Dominated the game and Burnley never threatened, Upson scored a freak O.G

Hull City 1 - 2 West Ham Parker 8, V of Hess 23, Fleck 33
Bottom side caused us (league leaders) problems. We managed to grind out the result though with two fine team goals

West Ham 3 - 1 Blackburn Diamanti 11, Campbell O.G 20, Cole 49, Beckham 53
We really struggled in first half but after a good telling off at half time, Cole slotted home and Beckham scored a long range strike to get yet another 3 points. amazing run!

We're having an amazing season, late October and we're top of the table. HOWEVER, next games against Liverpool, Aston Villa, Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal. gulp

Really nice start Toffington, nice signing with Beckham. Who else did you sign and how are the new boys doing?

Good luck in your next round of games bud.

thanks guys

i also signed John Fleck, Steven Smith and Sol Campbell. They've all settled well, Fleck seems to love the big games. i have been more impressed with the young players already at the club. Tomkins, Collison and Stanislas are really improving and look to be becoming good premier league players

We've a very tough November ahead of us:

West Ham 2 - 1 Liverpool Cole 10, Collison 31, Kyrigiakos 87
Another incredible and well deserved result. Cole continues his great scoring run and Jack Collison again proves his worth with a great performance and goal.

Carling Cup 4th Round
Fulham 2 - 0 West Ham Johnson 66, 90
Having won at Craven cottage earlier in the season, we thought we could progress here but we never really showed up.

Aston Villa 0 - 0 West Ham
A close game which could have gone either way. I'm pleased with this.

Manchester City 1 - 1 West Ham Cole 30, Maxi Rodriguez 56
After having the lead and controlling possession it is disappointing to concede an equaliser and in the end they could have won it.

West Ham 0 - 2 Chelsea Drogba 8, Terry 16
Desperately unlucky, we battered Chelsea all game but never looked likely to score. Both their goals came from set-pieces, very frustrating!

Arsenal 4 - 1 West Ham Eduardo 17, Van Persie 33, 40, 58, Fleck 63
Like the Chelsea game. We controlled the play for large periods but everything they hit seemed to go in. 5 games without a win and we're now down to 4th, however we need to ensure that we stop the rot if we want to fight for a European place.

I'm disappoined in the manner of the two league defeats but it wasn't catastrophic by any means. Still exceeding fans' and my own expectations so can't be too displeased.
The board have given me £6.5m to spend in January. I think i may target a move for Benfica's Di Maria.

Blimey, you are doing fantastic, nice budget given to you for January

your doing well against the likes of liverpool and man utd, 4-0!!!:O
imo those two are the easiest teams to beat in the top 4, but they're still difficult, all credit to you

Great start and a good read too. Keep it up. ^^)

great results 2-1 against liverpool and 4-0 v united full credit 2 u well done and gl

West Ham 2 - 3 Stoke City Collison 23, Cole 30, Kitson 37, Tuncay 71, Huth 81
Heart-breaking. After a tough run we targeted this as the game to return to winning form but after going 2-0 we couldn't keep the ball and Stoke were clinical.

Wigan 0 - 0 West Ham
Plenty of chances but unable to convert, our form is starting to worry me

West Ham 0 - 0 Portsmouth
Our play was very good but again, we were poor in front of goal. Cole should have helped himself to a hat-trick.

Wolves 1 - 2 West Ham Maierhofer 39, Cole 47, Dyer 53
At last a win! Awful in the first half, sublime in the second. This game was the meaning of 'a game of two halves'. We are now in 8th place.

Everton 1 - 1 West Ham Cole 12, Vaughan 34
Probably a fair result, a drab game and both sides scored on the break.

Birmingham City 1 - 0 West Ham Benitez 90
Freefalling! We were robbed, how on earth we didn't win here is beyond me. They scored their only chance and we rattled their woodwork four times.

West Ham 2 - 0 Bolton Cole 31, Diamanti 47
A fine attacking display. Decided to change style of play in order to pick up some points and it worked a treat, we were completely dominant.

FA Cup 3rd Round
West Ham 3 - 2 Portsmouth Collison 1, Diamanti 8, Piquionne 22, Ashton 41, Boateng 47
We were very lucky to progress, Portsmouth deserved to win. We're pleased that Ashton managed his first goal of the season though.

"West Ham have today confirmed the signing of Angel Di Maria from Benfica for a fee of £4million."

Manchester United 3 - 0 West Ham Rooney 32, 41 Ferdinand 52
They came looking for revenge and they got it, easily. I'm truly starting to worry. although we're in 6th place, from 4th to 12th is seperated by only a few points and so we could slip into bottom half within the week.

After a fantastic start we are now in 6th place but our form seems to be getting worse and worse. We've got 38 points from our opening 21 games, I'd have taken that gleefully at the start of the season but the good start raised all our expectations, perhaps too much. We're still in the fight for a Champions League spot but I'm starting to wonder if even a Europa League place could be too much of an ask.

as in bursting other team's bubbles. Instead of blowing them...

...I was tired at the time :)
