As long as the mighty Gary Neville doesn't retire we're just fine for right-backs

As much as you much him, there is not right back for England who is fit to lace his boot. Some love him, some hate him, that doesnt change the fact that he was very good right back in his days and an average player is playing in that position now.

i think its brilliant that finally wes Brown and Robinson have retired because this shows POSTMAN PAT that there not gonna be used like that

AROUND OF APPLAUSE TO WES BROWN AND PAUL ROBINSON (H)

we have national day of mourning for 2 great players Wes Brown & Paul Robinson haha . what a bunch of twats both **** players. wes not even first choice for mancs ( although that doesnt normally stop Don Fabio). Now all we need is Terry, Wright - Phillips and the likes to follow suit and then bring in the youngsters. Just play the kids and give them 5 - 6 games, hopefully the england fans would be patient with them

Not sure. Both squad players. Brown is good enough for us so only he stayed for 10 years.

I think the main problem with Wes for Capello is that Capello prefers to play with attacking full backs as seen with his constant selection of Johnson and A. Cole, whereas Wes is basically a centre back who plays in the right back position, unlike Gary Neville who (back in the day) was better defensively than Glen Johnson is now but could still get forward and deliver/foil for the right mid (Beckham mainly).

has never been pinned down a first team place at club and international level yer ok mainly because of injurys but he is an ok player but nothing more.

That was 2008 though Scott. Last time I saw him play was against Mexico and he really didn't fit into Capello's system. You lot have played with your right back fairly deep and Evra charging forward - Brown just doesn't look accomplished enough on the ball to do anything but sit deep and as a centreback, he'd be well down any list of English players. Not totally his fault because he had Walcott in front of him against Mexico, but he's meant to be a fairly senior player who'll help young players through the game.

Wasn't really an individual mistake - just purely that he's not good enough to fit into any system which requires your right back to be more versatile. Not axe grinding mate or sniping because of his club team. He's a good defender. But to play at fullback (and even at centreback) the game is moving on again and he's not sufficiently rounded enough as a player to do that at the highest levels outside of fitting in with how the manager sets up his team.

I understand all that, but he was thrown out because of one game. he is alright going forward, not his best attribuate, but he is more then good enough to play that way at the international stage. He probaly looked at it, he got taken out the squad as 2nd choice RB and CB cover, for not being good enough going forward, to be replaced by an real attacking player in Carragher, He is also not good in that system.

He was not in the midst of things right now so its fine and he is getting on.....might as well give the likes of Kieran Gibbs more time to settle into the international scene
