Anyone know a tactic that's pretty much ideal for west ham I.e with a target man and counter-attacking

Want to start a long term save with them and develop most of the players there
 
The most obvious and least appealing is probably hoofball. You've got Jarvis and Downing on the wings, Carroll up front and Nolan in behind. Route 1 Carroll as TM on support, Nolan as AM on attack with Jarvis and Carroll in the MR/L slots as attacking wingers.

I once had Carroll as advance forward, the guy was unstoppable, i told him to dribble less and had the wingers to float in crosses
