I'm a big fan of our Premier League, The Bundes Liga and La Liga.....and i thought i'd check out Italian Football.
Yeah, i know a little bit about it but i'd never sit and watch a match until a few weeks ago, and im really getting into it. How ever, one thing strikes me and that is the attendances at matches. I watched the Roma Derby today and there were so many empty seats, and the same goes for The Parma vs Napoli game. What's the deal with this? any one know?

big stadiums low interest
away fans dont really travel either

Strange lol. O well, at least if any one wants to go see a Game in Italy, then there will always be tickets.....but come on, the Rome Derby....Stadium half full.....terrible....you'd never see a Man United or Man City derby empty....or Chelsea vs Arsenal

I don't think they ever recovered from the match fixing scandals. When all the big names left the clubs i'm sure the bandwagon fans followed them out.

Was that when Juventus were relegated? and A.C Milan docked points?

The olympic stadium in rome holds 100,000 so 50,000 not a bad turn out.

To be honest, i wouldn't go to Rome, they wanna kick your two front teeth out. Especially when you're a Lazio supporter

Yeah, but alot more teams got docked points and other stuff, I think a few other teams got relegated and some teams were not aloud to compete in the next seasons UEFA competitions.

Google it and the info is there. I feel that some fans lost faith in the game when they found out the results were pre-determined. I know I would loose interest in English football if clubs and referees made private agreements so that Arsenal (or any other team) could win the league.

Alot of the stadiums were built out of the cities aswell so home fans have to travel a fair distance to their own teams matches.

i will google it, sounds very interesting, thanks for the info buddy.
Yeah, i probably wouldn't take English football as seriously if there was a match fixing scandal

The capacity for Olimipico is just over 72,000. So attendence for the derby would roughly be 36,500.

No problem mate, glad I could help.

As mentioned above most stadiums are located outside the cities and fans have to travel a lot. Another reason is the decline in the standards of the Serie A compared to La Liga and Premiership. They have lost a lot of big names and the match fixing hadnt helped popularity either.
Its greeat going to matches as theres always loads available :)

36,000 is pretty poor really.

Tbh, i think the big loss of attendance for the Rome derby can be attributed to how violent the fans are towards each other.

Is the Italian FA not doing anything about attendance? like lowering ticket prices?

I think they might do now, since Germany has taken one of their European places.

The Serie A is dieing. Look at all the teams average age. It's terrible. Also, maybe the Italians have had enough with players getting away with everything. I wouldn't like to see Gatusso chop a man in half because he's got sand in his va-j-j.

hello, I noticed this thread and being an Italian fan, I think knowing how to explain things better

the issue of stadium attendance is given by many factors, the first is that they are really obsolete, old, dirty and made really bad

then the minister Maroni has implemented, I do not know what to call it a loyalty card instead of loyalty to the club that has alienated fans, the infamous "piece of the Fan"

that is useless, basically if you do not have the card you can not follow your team away in guests, but you can put yourself in other areas, a very intelligent, you just need to eat above

we have an observatory for the fans, that sucks, which prohibits travel to twin fans, lol, that prohibitions are absurd, and that between the police headquarters warnings, arrests and various amenities have decimated the Italian curves

the distance is different, is not the fault of the location (the urban context is not like yours, we have the stadium must be built in the suburbs) but the ease of parking and amenities that few Italian stadiums have

on the stages are left far behind, and I do not blame those who prefer to look at other leagues rather than our

PS: I apologize if my english sucks
