My criteria:

I am looking for a team with a great story. Either a team that has fallen from grace or a team that has never been into the Football League or even a team that is only newly created.

A team with potential, decent facilities for lower leagues, half decent supporter base, decent youth recruitment. I take all this into consideration. Isn't the poorest team in the league.

Teams I've considered so far, FC United of Manchester, Ebbsfleet & Salford. I get inspired watching a documentary on a team, so if there is anything good on Youtube you know of, let me know.

Any recommendations and why?

If you're looking for a team that has fallen from grace then it has to be Stockport County.

I have been looking for the exact same thing, I usually start a long save with the team I support ( Southend United ) but for what ever reason this year I just didn't enjoy that save. I have been looking at teams and trying to decide since Monday.

In terms of a ''story'' behind a team, FC United and Salford seem to jump out at me, being that one was an offspring from Manchester United ( In a way ) and the other is an up and coming team partly owned by some very rich Manchester United legends.

But I still cannot decide on a team, I am very picky and want a team that I know I will enjoy managing through the good and the bad but I just can't seem to find one that catches my eye!

Also in terms of Ebbsfleet, they are seemingly the dominant force in the division and have all in all better quality everything, players, facilities etc

I always like to try Altrincham, a small town semi-pro club overshadowed by its bigger neighbours. It will be a real challenge to get them into the league as part-timers let alone to build a dynasty.

How do you unlock lower leagues?

There is a lvl22 database made most FM's. I usually made a twist on it like..

Maine Road, its from my fm16 database where i gave all the prem teams B teams lvl 9 or lower

MCFC - Maine Road
MUFC - FC United of Manchester
West Ham - Waltham
Tottenham - Haringy etc

If you want the half decent support and good facilities then my beloved Stockport County are the one. Whilst I hate being down at this level in real life, it's great on FM every year.
