I would also recommend selling Kieren Westwood (you can get £2 - 3m for him first season) and signing Adriano Basso on a free transfer along with a younger goalkeeper to take over in 1 seasons time
You can also get Bebé (Man Utd) and Harvard Nordveit (Arsenal) on loan quite easily. If you can wheel and deal well enough you can give a lot of depth and quality to the squad.

On FM10, Gourcuff, Dzeko and Adler were the only 3 players any team needed to dominate the world.
For lower leagues, as I always do a Colchester to start with, if Ugur Yilidrim (not sure on spelling) is as good as he was on FM10 I will defo sign him. He dominates league one as a playmaker, not quite as good for championship but last year he was a free transfer so fingers crossed.
