Who Is The Craziest Country To Have Won The World Cup For You?

I’ve just received my draw for the 2030 World Cup as Japan, and decided to read through every email i received about the cup (unlike normal). I then come to find that in 2026, Ireland won the World Cup, which I find particularly impressive considering one of my old players at my previous club, AFC Fylde, now starts on the wing for them at age 21. So considering that, I’ve come to the conclusion that the Irish lads rocked up to the US with hope and Evan Ferguson and somehow won. Incredible.

That is absolutely mental. Ireland winning the 2026 World Cup with a Fylde graduate on the wing is the peak Football Manager experience. Evan Ferguson must have basically turned into prime R9 for that month. I once had South Korea win it all in a save, but Ireland taking down the big guns in the US is on a whole other level of chaos.

Now I’m tempted to load up a save with the Irish squad just to see if I can replicate that miracle. Did they have a lucky run of penalties, or did they actually outplay everyone?
