SEPTEMBER 2015

A busy month lay ahead with an improved set of results a must.

SOUTHAMPTON 0 - 1 CHELSEA

View attachment 305440

A hard fought victory as Falcao scored the only goal and showed why he was purchased to replace Torres who fired a blank for his new club.
A good performance & clean sheet but still a lack of goals.

CHELSEA 4 - 1 LEGIA WARSAW (MATCHDAY 1)

View attachment 305442

A solid victory for Chelsea's "2nd string" as goals from Oscar, Llorente, Sturridge and de Bruyne sealed the win.
Danny Potts made his debut for The Blues at left back and young GK Mitchell Beeney came on too.

MAN UNITED 3 - 2 CHELSEA

The big game of the month and a disappointing defeat as Hazard scored in the 1st and last minutes.
Shaqiri equalized just before half time and Roy Keane must have made the more inspiring team talk.
Chelsea were just not good enough and it was a worrying defeat for Drogba.
Falcao again underperformed....

CHELSEA 4 - 0 SOUTHAMPTON (CAPITAL ONE CUP 3RD ROUND)

The Saints visited The Bridge in the Cup. Drogba rotated and promised good performances with league starts.
Isco certainly took up the challenge with 2 goals.
David Luiz & Llorente made the score look emphatic.
Regen Hontecillas played well at left back before coming off injured.

CHELSEA 2 - 0 READING

The midweek scorers kept their places and performed well. Llorente had a goal nicked off him by Buttner and Isco scored again. He was rapidly becoming an important influence alongside Mata and Hazard.

The only sour note was Chelsea's 17 year old Polish Right Back had to be given time away due to home sickness.

BASEL 0 - 3 CHELSEA (MATCHDAY 2)

Danny Potts again started as Hazard, Inigo Martinez and his half time replacement, Jeffrey Bruma scored in an easy win!

Thankfully United lost a game during the month so Drogba's team were only 5 points off the top despite their average start to the season!

OCTOBER 2015

Chelsea had to ground to make up this month and a trip to Burnley seems like a good fixture to start with.
However, they were a point and a place better off in the table at the time of the fixture.

BURNLEY 2 - 5 CHELSEA

View attachment 305475

The old Chelsea swagger returned in the 2nd half after a half time dressing down. Burnley had shaded the 1st half and deservedly drew level just after HT.
However Hazard and Falcao (celebrating his new contract) were excellent & Chelsea ran out clear winners.

Ramires picked up a knock though and would be out for 5 weeks which is a blow.

CHELSEA 2 - 0 ASTON VILLA

Mata's latest 2 week injury picked up in the international break wasn't as seriously felt due to the impressive form of Isco.
Fellaini came in for Ramires and really needed to step up his performances if he wanted a new contract.
Kirchhoff was imperious at both ends as he netted twice as Chelsea ran out winners against a very defensive Villa team.

CHELSEA 4 - 3 ATHLETICO MADRID (MATCH DAY 3)

View attachment 305483

An absolute classic as Chelsea battered Madrid but were vulnerable on the counter. Everyone in a blue shirt played well and Chelses took a major stride towards topping the group come December.

Chelsea scraped a last minute win against impressive high flyers Brighton.
De Bruyne with a last gasp screamer from the edge of the area kept Chelsea's 100% monthly winning form going!

CHELSEA 2 - 0 BLACKPOOL (CAPITAL ONE CUP 4TH ROUND)

An easy victory although the scoreline was not that impressive. Potts cup tied so Inigo Martinez played left back and did ok.

CHELSEA 2 -1 WOLVES

Halloween greeted the pumpkin coloured replica shirts of the Wolves fans who nearly pulled off a shock as Chelsea laboured to a 2-1 win. MOTM Wilshere with the winner.

A much better month in terms of both results and the performances were getting better although some were not emphatic.
Chelsea rose to 3rd in the league with unbeaten Stoke between them & leaders United.
Drogba won the MOTM for the 1st time this season.

NOVEMBER 2015

ATHLETICO MADRID 2 - 2 CHELSEA (MATCHDAY 4)

View attachment 305695

Again, another good game with 3 goals in the opening 15 minutes threatening another goal fest.
Isco equalized with 5 minutes left to virtually ensure Chelsea would top the group and be seeded for the Knock out stages.

Ramires & Mata returned in a comprehensive away victory as Chelsea continued their good form.
They both scored alongside the prolific Kirchhoff.

More away day misery for the blues against a title rival. Arsenal totally dominated the game and 2-0 flattered the visitors.
Inigo Martinez was at fault for the 1st and we never recovered.

CHELSEA 2 - 0 EVERTON

A hard fought victory against a dogged Everton team. de Bruyne finally broke the deadlock after 78 minutes & Llorente made the points safe deep in injury time.

LEGIA WARSAW 2 - 3 CHELSEA (MATCHDAY 5)

View attachment 305703

Chelsea were 2 up in 6 minutes through Llorente and de Bruyne and it all seemed too easy.
Regens were played & more brought on in the 2nd half.
Legia moved level with a better 2nd half performance before Azpilicueta sealed the win with a fantastic goal, picking up the ball in his own half before beating half the opposition and smashing home in the 95th minute.

CHELSEA 3 - 0 QPR

Drogba fielded Mata, Isco and Hazard with the latter now a natural playing on the right wing.
They all scored although the 3rd goal was given as an OG.
A good win!

CHELSEA 2 - 0 SPURS (CAPITAL ONE CUP 5TH ROUND)

View attachment 305705

Josh Mceachran made a rare start as Chelsea played a strong side against their local rivals and were too good.
A semi final against Liverpool awaited them in the new year.

A solid month apart from the Arsenal result & performance.
Man United had started to struggle and had dropped to 3rd behind Stoke.
Chelsea were now top and determined to stay there.
