Why are my edited teams not appearing properly?

I have spent hours updating all the MLS teams with correct players and squad numbers so I can start a new game with correct data. I have used the editor for years now so I am familiar with how it works. I have edited other leagues including all of England's leagues which have all and still appear fine. When I select a new game and select MLS all the new players are in the teams but not the squad numbers which I allocated. I rechecked my editor data and the new squad numbers have definetely saved. Can anyone give me any advice? It's driving me crazy!
