Why can't I seem to win games?

Hi guys, I've been an avid FM user for about 10 years now and have had success with every release except 2015! I've started about six different careers now and each time is a disaster. Got Roma to the top of the league until January/February and then couldn't win in about 12 consecutive games for no reason at all. Started a new career with Newcastle and ended up losing every game 4-1 and each game I had dozens of one-on-ones or simple tap ins and they would always be saved/missed. Started again with Bolton yesterday, won my first game 4-1 so I thought finally I had an enjoyable season coming and then ended up losing four on the bounce.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I'm starting to fall out of love with the FM games based on this because it's not very entertaining to keep being demolished.
