tactics which utilizes a narrow formation (or focus passing set on 'through the middle') with 3 strikers generally work well compared to tactics which focuses on wingers crossing the ball to the targetman, etc. for example, mr. hough's 4-1-2-3 or even 'goals galore' which uses inside forwards and no wingers with 3 strikers are one of the best tactics.
why did they make crossing so underrated? is it because of all the little factors which affects crossing and getting a head to it? for example, i think you would need good balance, composure, crossing, decisions and technique just to simply get a good cross in. then, the really hard part of trying to head the ball would require good anticipation, heading, aggression, strength, balance and decisions.
