Will my laptop run FM17

I was wondering if my HP Elitebook 2570P would be able to run FM17 the specs are.

Processor - Intel Core i5-3230M CPU @ 2.60GHz 3rd generation

Graphics Card - 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller

With 2GB RAM

Try to get your hands on more RAM but that Laptop should do fine.

What does ram actually do, and how important is it?

RAM is important, but if it's only for playing FM, then having more than 8 GB is not super super important. If you are no not near your RAM's max, game speed won't be much different whether you have 8 or 16. It's the quality RAM that's important-RAM which can read and write quick. For example I use 2133 mhz DDR4 8GB of it and the game is nice and quick for me (though I don't use all the leagues).

The more RAM you have the more processes you can have running in the background. So for me, having the RAM I have means I can do a nice pile of work in the background. Having a good CPU is equally important though. I have an I3 6300 CPU hence I've good system performance overall because of the RAM+CPU.
