I was playing a long running career with Ajax and didn't have any real goals left in 2036 when I got a news message saying i had 28 players trained at my club.

I decided to finally do something I had always wanted to try; Win the Champions Cup with a homegrown squad (trained at club). With pain in my heart I sold all my players not trained at the club. I had only one young left back, but no left defenders trained at my club good enough for my squad to buy back so I had to retrain my reserve right back to left back. My right back is actually a central defender but he can play there so he will do.
My talented goalie is not trained at club yet, but I didn't want to buy back an expensive old goalkeeper so I just let that one slide.

After I made 184M on transfers and didn't spend anything, I got this news message;

Usually I spread my transfer in- and outcome more over the whole year. I had gotten this message before on a different save, also after a lot of transfer income. I wonder if the transfer income and investment are related, since they are in the same amount.

With my fully homegrown squad wages were very low;

Eventually my reserve right back retrained to left back;http://i1153.photobucket.com/albums/...TeamReport.png

My squad still dominated their games, but did not score as many goals as before. I still won most of my games, only losing twice (Lyon away in group phase and FC Twente away) and eventually end up winning the treble, beating Juve in the final and rivals Feyenoord in the semis. In total my homegrown team won all six prizes this season. I must say it felt extra good since the team was fully homegrown (minus a young goalie).

Does anyone have similar stories of long running careers at one club or a homegrown squad, like maybe a squad consisting only of own youth recruitment players or something like that?

Cheers!

Im trying to do something similar in my save, wich is to have only Portuguese players in my team. really hard, but hope to have it done in 10 years... lol

Nice. Good luck in your endeavour.

Are you going to sign a lot of brazilians talents and hope they decide to play for Portugal, and sell them otherwise?
I thought they can nationalize easily, or am I wrong?

They take 8 years or something... And for the moment i dont mind that they play by other country if they have the portuguese nationality, and in RL we have some players born in several countries playing for others than portugal, like Kevin Ganeiro or Robert Pires. Its like having scotish, wlesh and Ireland players in England.

The "trained at club" status is given after 3 years in the club between 15 and 21?

If so, you "just" need to get good young players and make them grow to be great

It is, which is really the best part of the game for me.
You need to sign players before or on their 18 birthday though, or they won't be 'properly' trained at club (if they're non EU, in my case). There were brazilian talents I had to sell because I couldn't sign them earlier to have them be trained at club. You have to be lucky their birthday is in the summer or January.
