Hey Folks,

I had stopped playing FM14 for a while due to going off the boil but have picked it up over the past few days and am generally quite happy with the new patch and the football being served up.

My main issue is my wingbacks thinking they can score every time they hit the box. I have tried everything to get them to refrain from shooting from silly tight angles, especially when 9 times out of ten a square ball across the face of goal would result in my striker rolling it into an empty net.

As they provide the bulk of my width I dont wanna lose them but its doing my head in. A cutback option would be nice. :@ My goal return would increase 2 or 3-fold if they would play the simple ball.

I play variations of 4-2-3-1, sometimes with IF's, sometimes with 3 AMC's,have ticked shoot less often, drill crosses, run wide with ball. Any ideas?? Cheers

Shoot less often and Cross more often?

I had this problem a lot as well. Unfortunately, i think it is just a problem with the game. You have to consider the fact that the chances the wingbacks get in the box, no matter how tight the angle, are classified as clear cut chances by the match engine. I real life football, players will hardly pass or cross if they have a clear cut opportunity to score. The problem with fm is that what it deems as clear cut chances (shots from obscure angles) may actually not be that clear cut.
