A small bit about myself first shall I, I as this story would pan out as being in the unknown of me being a Bristol Rovers fan, but for nearly every version of football manager, I always have a knack of doing a save with Rovers arch rivals Bristol City, so for FM17 I thought I'll return to FM-Base and make a story or more like how I'll do it a play a month and post it on here and give my thoughts on how the save is going month by month, also updates on transfers in and out would come into it as well.

So that's my plan, let see what happens, the first post will be some things to start it off just what I'll call minor things.

A Gashead in unknown territory of south Bristol.

Lee Johnson leaves Bristol City after saving them from relegation in the 2015/2016 season, a source at the club says they already got a brilliant young manager coming into the club as the new manager.

Grant Thame is the new manager of Bristol City, the 23 year old begins his career in a manner of unknown as he supports the team he now manages arch rivals.

Grant Thame: "I'm happy that the club sees what potential I have as a manager, knowing my background in who I support, I promise the fans of the club that the future starts now, and now is going to be glorious."

Next post will be how I got on in July with friendlies and most important my tactic that I'll be using.

July 2016

Tactic

I thought I'll share the tactic I'll use first, it's my own creation, I created it when I was facing my brother in the fantasy draft mode, it worked so well so I thought I'll use it for the story, I've tested it with Ajax and it works well.

View attachment 1089772

A 4-5-1 sounds simple but pair it with the right player instructions and team instructions, it's a different kettle of fish.

View attachment 1089773

As I said a different kettle of fish, this is all about having possession. Quite a fair bit of it.

I won't put the players instructions on as there are too many to print screen for it, but I can add opposition instructions are deadly for it as well, but I'll tell you, tight marking is always, closing down is always, tackling is hard, and for show onto foot, that is weaker foot.

That's enough about the tactic, I'll show you who I say are my key players for the season.

Aden Flint
View attachment 1089774

Lee Tomlin

View attachment 1089775

Tammy Abraham

View attachment 1089776

These 3 players are key, a strong CB in Aden Flint, the animal in AM Lee Tomlin, in the person I like to call cheat code up front Tammy Abraham.

Now friendlies I had 4 games lets look at the results.

View attachment 1089777

3 wins and a draw, how about a look at average possession of them friendlies.

65.75% possession, which is a lot if you ask me, my tactic does what I want it to do, and that is to dominate possession.

August is next and the end of the transfer window, I got to post my current signing in the next post, so for now, that's a wrap.

Bristol City signs two from Scotland Premier League.

The first signing the club has made was striker Louis Moult from Motherwell for 800k, a two-year deal for 5.5k wage per week.

View attachment 1089779

The signing of Louis Moult will give Tammy Abraham and Gustav Engvall a challenge for the starting place.

Peter Pawlett comes in as the second new signing for Bristol City. Pawlett can play in either RM or AMC for the tactic.

View attachment 1089780

475k is what Bristol City paid Aberdeen for Pawlett, he's been given a two-year deal on 6k per week wage.

Next update will be the end of august which I just got to finish playing through, shouldn't be long I got a skin which can instant result the matches.

Not going well at the moment, sitting in 20th in the league, hopefully, the team will gel to the tactic and results will come.

View attachment 1089795

Peter Pawlett has shown some great performances for his transfer fee of 475k.

August Average Possession

62.85%, quite high after playing 7 games in August, just need to get the tactic to gel hard to the team to get the results that are needed.

13th in the league after September for the club is good going, around where I want the club to finish, if we finish higher it's an overachievement in my eyes.

Key Player of the month

Tammy Abraham

View attachment 1089809

5 goals in the month give the loanee from Chelsea the edge over goalkeeper Adam Stachowiak

September Average Possession

64.83%, Getting better with the results, possession is key to how I want the team to play.

Will be following this, after losing at Wembley and 8-2 last game when they got promoted from league 1 I have followed them, think they could do very well in championship with time

6th in the league, is overachieving for me, but that where the team is just quite good, 4 wins in the month justified that.

Key Player of the month

Joe Bryan

View attachment 1089949

Been solid on the left side of midfield for the 4 wins, played in cm for the Barnsley game, still gave a good showing, so he takes the award for October just ahead of Jamie Paterson and Scott Golbourne.

October Average Possession

68.2%, best yet in an awesome month for the club, as I said the future is now, and now is glorious, and glorious is what I mean by high possession.

8th in the league, 2 places down from last month, but only had 3 games, so I can't complain much in that department.

Key Player of the month

Hordur Magnusson

View attachment 1089958

The Icelandic rock in central defense is the stand out of the 3 games, no one could match him so he's the winner of November.

November Average Possession

63.33%, Only 3 games in the month so I expected it to go down but still high enough to be happy with it.

8th for the second month running, having an average month of results justifies that manner.

Key Player of the month

Adam Stachowiak

View attachment 1089973

The Polish goalkeeper takes the award, overall the best player in the month, no-one could top him.

December Average Possession

63.33%, still around where I wanted the possession to be over 60% for an average possession in each month.

Thanks for following, I've haven't done a story since FM15 so I'm just trying to get used to doing it again.

Well it's going well so far. Could be pushing for those top 6 spots with one burst of form

We could indeed, I'm actually enjoying a save without the usage of the in-game editor as I disabled it for this save, to have it more realistic. I'm just currently finishing off the transfer window deadline day, so update should be soon.

6th in the league, but can we crack the top 2 by the end of the season, by the current form at the moment we might get there.

Key Player of the month

Tammy Abraham

View attachment 1089991

The goals he's scored in the month says enough doesn't it only Bobby Reid came close to the award but Tammy cliches it.

January Average Possession

67.33%, a difficult month but great results with great possession of the ball in each game.

WE ARE PREMIER LEAGUE

I'm in a slight shock, my hand built tactic, gets Bristol City into the premier league, what a season, ups and downs, ins and outs, lefts and rights, but Premier League football in Bristol for 2017/2018 season.

Now postseason, think what is needed to be done, deadwood to get rid off, improvements to be made, most importantly, let the players have a holiday, after all, their hard work paid off.
