Also what about Lev Yashin??? Greatest keeper ever!
is someone stupid enough to support Arsenal and Spurs?
Milk camout of my nose. May God praise your capability of noticing strange things and your sense of humour, good sir.
I am big fun of redondo and batistuta. Also think that most of the solid players that played 85 and later wouldnt be able to be a star player with today's level of football
you cant compare player from back then to the new genration players because they played under diffrent circumstances and technology

Maradona. He pulled Argentina to a world cup singlehandedly (pun intended). He pulled Napoli to success singlehandedly. This at the time when defenders took no prisoners and if they got near him they punted him four foot in the air without a foul being given. This while he was also, erm, living life to the full in Napoli's red light district. Pele had a decent team around him, Best showed only the briefest of glimpses of the kind of quality to elevate him to the company of those in the real highest levels of the hall of fame.
As for Zidane as best ever? He wasn't even Juve's best ever foreign import - their fans reckon it was a Welshman by the name of John Charles. He's also regularly voted best ever player to have played in Serie A. That's how good he was. He pulled Wales to a world cup and got them to a quarter-final. He was injured, so was the regular Welsh goalie and they both missed the match. Wales lost 1-0. A late goal scored by a teenager called Pele. If he were Brazillian he'd be classed as the greatest ever, shame he's been so forgotten by the British Isles.

You can, but you're right that you need to take the differing circumstances into account. If John Charles could head a wet heavy leather ball to the half-way line from his own box in the 50s, he'd be able to head the modern flyaway balls much, much, much further...
The thing to remember too is just how well these modern players would do without the high tech coaching and training they receive now. Can you imagine a modern player being able to turn up and lead a team to Premier League success while hammering the booze from post-match Saturday til mid-day Friday? It happened in the seventies... How much better a player would modern techniques have made Maradona? Or Pele? Or Eusebio? Or Matthews?
Mind you, how many of the great 80s players have performed without their daily injection of what we'd consider to be performing enhancing drugs these days (Marseilles became infamous for dosing their players, and it was certainly not unusual in 80s Italy either...).
