Young players take longer to development?

Hi, i've been playing a young LB in my second team for the last two seasons with Newcastle United, his current ability is two stars but has potential five star ability, on previous FM's young players have seemed to developed alot quicker than what young players develop on this game, has anyone else noticed this?

Also when you look at recent attribute changes it shows that a particular attritube has gone up with the green arrow but i swear it actually hasn't? :S

No his determination is 18 and i haven't had a single report saying that he is unsettled, maybe it's his training..

what about his personality?? ambition and profesionalism are the 2 most important attributes for developing a player
also maybe he is unhappy with his training

i had a ambitious 18 year old improve almost every attribute in 3 months and he didn't even start every match
