Youth Player Problem

I have just started a season with Gillingham but I only have roughly 6 players in my youth team. I have checked my first team and reserves and there are no more in there! So my question is is this just a bug or is there something except buying young players that I can do I improve this?

I know in the build up to the game there was talk about having a youth player intake type structure. When does this happen or do I need to request a youth player day from the board for example?

I think its a problem with the lower leagues in general, maybe if you add all players from Nation it might work?

Is it your first season?
If it is, and if your 'problem' is by any chance similar to mine in FM 2011,
your youth team willed by filled with recruits in the 2nd season. I think it is because Gillingham doesnt have any youth players, or the database doesnt have a record of it. Just wait for next season..

when you started the game did you have <add players to playable teams> ticked? if you did not then that could be why your youth team only has 6 players, the ai adds regens to teams who are short on players
