Hey guys, I'm a long term stalker of the forums, but first time contributor, so go easy on me! =P

I've been checking the forums a lot the past couple of days, and one of the types of event that takes my fancy mostly is the "Be a Player/Be a Pro" type of topic. They all look like a lot of fun, and I would love to try my hand at doing something along those lines. That having been said, I don't really want to just copy someone else's idea, so I thought I would give it my own spin, and come up with the "Create a Club" concept!
To explain it better, here's a little piece from a fictional MSN article (That I just made up!)

"After last night's bumper Euro Millions lottery draw, one lucky syndicate scooped the entire jackpot, a total of £240M split evenly between the twenty four mates, seeing them net a whopping £10M each! All of the mates are avid football fans and have decided to spend their new found fortunes on creating their very own professional fotball clubs!

Negotiations were underway last night with the English FA, but it looks as though the newly created clubs will all be entered in to the Blue Square Premier League and given a chance to shine from there!

First off, congratulations on your massive lottery win! I'm sure after you've finished buying your new clothes, flashy cars and paying for your wives and girlfriends to have **** jobs you'll be completely focused on trying to create your own football club and doing everything you can to ensure that it's a massive success. The premier league and european glory await....will you make it? Only time will tell...!

The plan is to have you create your own football club. You'll be based in the Blue Square Premier League (to start) and you'll get various bits of creative control over the formation of your football club. I'll then sim the seasons and post regular updates on all the progress your teams are making, and hopefully we'll all have a rip-roaring time!
This is going to be a fairly large project, but I'm willing to put the time in to run it and hopefully we'll have some fun as we go along.


The Details:

All teams will be created in the Blue Square Premier League with the existing teams there being replaced by our created teams. I'd like to have a total of twenty four teams to completely populate the league with user created teams. (That's twenty three other players, because I'll be creating my own team of course!) If we lack a certain amount of players, or we can't get twenty three other players, I'll just create some more custom teams so that we have a whole league of custom teams.

  • Each team will have a squad of twenty players, all with the same selection of positions and age, CA and PA distribution. (I'll try to build a squad that has players to fill and cover each position and most of the more common formations).
    20 year old players, with 100 CA and 120 PA.
  • Each team will have the essential backroom positions covered (Manager, ***. Manager, Physio, Coach and Scout) by custom created staff. Again, Age, CA and PA distributions will be the same for each created team.

  • Reputation will be normalised at 2500 (which is about average for a BSP team) and stadiums will all have a capacity of 10,000.
  • Each team will have a balance of £5M, a transfer kitty of £500k and a Wage Budget of £25k. Sponsorships will also be normalised at £500k per season. (I want our clubs to be richer than the other lower league clubs so that we can start to get some clubs in the higher tiers quickly!)
  • Each team can pick one rival club, but I'd like to reserve an option to ask you all to pick one of the other user clubs as a rival also. I think this way the league will be more interesting.
Other than that, you will be able to influence which aspects of the club are more important to you. I plan (at the moment) to allow you to allocate a set amount of points in to the set up of your club, and also the tactical attributes of your club. I want all the created clubs to be pretty much equal so that only through the course of the project will we see teams grow and evolve to gain advantages over each other.

Thanks for the positive responses guys! I'm working on editing the database as we speak. I imagine these 8 teams will take me a while, so probably everyone that joins after this will have to wait until tomorrow for me to get their teams edited!

count me in mate, i'll edit this post with the information in a sec. just a thaught but if we have to chose a rival from the other created teams then you should make the new rivalries into derby games aswell.

seeing as it's taken me a while to get back to this due to not having access to the internet yesterday and having to take my brother down teh park on tuesday night i'll put it on a new post to help you keep them in the right order.

That's my plan Sammyt. Once we have enough players, I'll PM everyone and ask them to pick another user as a rival. That way we can have derby matches and the whole league will be more competitive!
