I went on the in game help guide and it says "The greater knowledge you and your team have of an area, the more fruitful scouting missions will be" so basically the higher the knowledge the more players your scouts are gonna find for you.
It depends how much money you have really and what the update is like. I only use the default database really so I don't know which players are available on the update but I'll try to give some suggestions.

When I signed the players the button just took me to the team screen and there is no button to get to it from my team screen.

About 10 games into my 1st season with Preston and I'm changing from 4-4-2 to 4-5-1 due to poor results and my assistant suggesting the current formation is unsuitable.
However, my strikers have struggled to score as it is (3 between them all season) so with 4-5-1 they will find it even harder...

I asked about doing this exact same challenge (start with Preston in Jan 2011 with exact same league table as real life) in the editing thread but was told it wasn't possible! :@ So do I just need the real fixtures and the Real Time Editor to do it?
Is it possible to edit the database to how it is in real life and play from this point?
I.e. Play from 1st of January in England with all real transfers/loans and results up to this point done (e.g. Preston bottom of championship and Q.P.R. top).
