Hi all,
I'm having trouble recreating the way Newcastle play under Rafa and getting successful results. I was wondering if anybody else is succeeding?
Newcastle seem to be playing a wide 4-4-1-1 with lots of crosses going in the box, and are dominating set peices. There are a couple of places...
I was wondering does anybody have any success or any advice on playing an attacking 4-4-1-1?
There don't seem to be many/any threads on this formation at all (except for one or two closed ones).
Better?
I was after a 4-4-1-1 tactic for some inspiration for my own. I was not look for a 3 defender tactic which does not suit the team I am managing- therefore the demolish is not better.though if you could send a link to the original that would be appreciated?
WHY HAS THIS CLOSED?
Why has this thread been closed? And why is there a link to a tactic which bears no similarity to the one originally shown on this thread? Does anybody have a link to the original tactic please?
Thanks what you're saying about the wingers makes sense. I will try changing than and the full backs to support in the future. Though I tend to be sceptical over the overload mentality, never done a lot with it. Besides I'm trying to achieve a counter attack, ball of the top kind of play...
But that is not what counter attack means. Counter attack means invite the opposition in then hit them with long balls and fast players to attack them before they can get enough players back. It has nothing to do with the amount of risks and risk of passes
The team, are not playing the way I described as above. They are not playing enough long balls over the top of the opposition defence for the striker and inside forward to run onto. Instead they seem to be playing and high line working the ball into the box and letting the full backs over lap.
Okay so this may sound a bit ungrateful, I am but I am playing with Newcastle (1st season still in the championship) getting some fab results (as you'd expect) however the style of play is not quite what I am looking for.
My idea is simple really. Newcastle have some really fast players in...
